Placement

Handling

Always remove the top cover of the case before playing the instrument. Playingthe instrumentwithoutremovingthetopcovermay cause the topcover to falloffduringperformance tocause injuryordamagestotheinstrument.

Open the top cover at less than a right angle (90 de- grees) to unhook the hinges. Thehingesmaybedeformedordamagedbyopeningthetop coverwiderthan90degrees. Openthetopcoveratcloseto90degrees,andthenpullthe topcoverinthedirectionofthearrow(shownbelow)toun- hookthehinges.

Make sure to hook the hinges securely when replacing the top cover. Liftingthecasewithunhookedorimproperlyhookedhinges maycausepersonalinjuryordamagetotheinstrument.

Disregard of the following warnings and improper use of the product may result in death or serious injury.

Do not place the instrument standing upright or upside down while the top cover is open or removed. The instrumentmay falloutandcause injuryordamage to theinstrument.

Never place an object on or lean against the instrument while in or out of its case. Thismaycausedamagetothetonebarsandframepartsor toppletheinstrument,whichisextremelydangerous.

Do not use the mallets for any purpose other than play- ing the instrument. Doingsomayresultininjuryoraccident.Donotallowchil- drentohitothers,etc.,oranyotherdangerousbehavior.

Do not use the glockenspiels hard mallets on vibra- phones or other mallet instruments. The resultingdents or scratcheson theother instruments tonebarsmayimpairthesound.

The tone bars should be wiped with a soft dry cloth. Never use thinner, benzene, or a wet cloth for cleaning purposes.

Transporting

Before moving or transporting the instrument, or when keeping the instrument unused for a long time, place the top cover on and lock the case, in order to protect the glock- enspiel from dust and damage by unexpected accidents. Even in its case, the instrument is susceptible to shock. Use care whenever moving the instrument. Never drop or throw the instrument for any reason. When transporting the instrument,

1. Lock both locks securely. 2. Carry the case by its carrying handle.

*If the case isnot lockedproperly, the contentsmay fall outof thecaseandcauseinjuryordamagetotheinstrument.

Do not place the instrument on an unstable surface such as a wobbly riser or on an incline, etc. Doingsomaycause the instrument tooverturnresulting in seriousinjury.

Manipulation

Retirez toujours le couvercle de ltui avant dutiliser linstrument. Sivousutilisezlinstrumentsansretirercecouvercle,ceder- nierrisquederetomberpendantquevousjouez,etdendom- magerlinstrumentoudevousblesser.

Ouvrez le couvercle moins de 90 degrs (angle droit) afin de dcrocher les charnires. Sivousouvrezlecouvercleplusde90degrs,lescharnires risquentdesedformeroudesendommager. Ouvrez lecouvercleauplusprsde90degrs,puis tirez-ledans le sensdelaflche(indiqueci-dessous)pourdcrocherlescharnires.

Lorsque vous replacez le couvercle, veillez raccrocher les charnires correctement. Si vous soulevez ltui alors que les charnires sont dcro- chesoumal accroches, vous risquezde vousblesser ou dendommagerlinstrument.

Features Special Steel Alloy, High Quality Tone Bars Deagans metallurgical engineers developed a special steel alloy for the glockenspiels tone bars. The tone bars are designed with sufficient width and thickness and highly evolved metallurgical know-how to produce a clear tone with abundant sustain and ample volume. The instruments tone will even reach the back of large halls or auditoriums.

Easy to Play, Single Pin Design The tone bars are held to the frame with a single pin design which reduces the chance of inaccuracy in perfor- mance and unwanted movement of the tone bars.

Stable Tuning The tone bars are tuned under strict temperature and hu- midity conditions to provide bars with stable pitch.

Nodal string mounting system delivers opti- mum sound

This mounting system mini- mizes the amount of surface to surface contact at the tone bars nodal mounting point by placing a twisted string between the tone bar and the felt. The use of this system results in the nearly total elimination of noise plus greater resonance and purer tone.

Rugged, Easy to Play Design Thecaseisdesignedtodeliveroptimumtoneandvol-

ume from the glockenspiel. Thecaseisalsodesignedsothatthehandleandlocksare

not an obstruction while the instrument is being played.

Aesthetic Design The chrome plate finish on the tone bars resists tarnishing. Thetonebarsarefinishedwithamattefinishwhichre-

duces glare from lights and eliminates eye strain.
