This chapter describes all stan- dard, country-specific and optional features offered with the series. It also describes fea- tures and functions that are not necessarily available in your vehicle, e. g., due to the selected options or country ver- sions. This also applies to safety-related functions and sys- tems. When using these func- tions and systems, the applicable laws and regulations must be observed.

The navigation system can determine the precise position of the vehicle with the aid of sat- ellites, and can reliably guide you to every entered destina- tion. Navigation data is stored in the vehicle and can be updated from a USB device.

In some countries, RTTI is transmitted via services which can be booked in addition.

RTTI is then used and displayed

instead of the traffic bulletins from the radio stations.

With RTTI, traffic obstructions are localized more comprehen- sively and precisely. Traffic con- ditions on roads other than the highways, for instance second- ary roads and urban streets are also recorded and displayed for a wide area. Recommended detours can be calculated more accurately on the basis of this information. The risk of becom- ing caught in a further traffic obstruction on detour routes is reduced. If applicable, several detour recommendations or additional information may be offered.

When traveling in countries where RTTI is not available, the traffic bulletins from the radio stations are still used, if possi- ble.

Why can the current position not be displayed?

The vehicle is located in an unrecognized region, is in a poor reception area, or the system is currently determin- ing the position. Reception is usually best when you have an unobstructed view of the sky.

Why does destination guidance not accept a destination without the street?

No downtown can be deter- mined for the entered

town/city. Enter any street in the selected town/city and start destination guidance.

Why does destination guidance not accept a destination?

The destination data is not contained in the navigation data. Select a destination that is as close as possible to the original.

Why can letters not be selected for destination input?

The destination data is not contained in the navigation data. Select a destination that is as close as possible to the original.

Why are voice guidance instruc- tions not provided at intersec- tions?

You have left the recom- mended route and the system requires a few seconds to cal- culate a new route sugges- tion.

The wireless charging tray enables the following functions to be performed without cables:

Charging the rechargeable battery of a mobile phone with Qi capability and of other mobile devices, which support the Qi standard.

Connect the mobile phone to the external antenna.

Depending on the country, this pro- vides for better network reception and a consistent reproduction qual- ity.

When inserting the mobile phone, make sure there are no

objects between it and the wire- less charging tray.

During charging, the surface of the tray and the mobile phone may become warm. Higher tem- peratures may lead to a reduc- tion in the charging current through the mobile phone, and in isolated cases the charging process is paused temporarily. Follow the relevant instructions in the mobile phone owner's manual.

If the vehicle is equipped with a charge indicator, the Control Display shows whether a mobile phone with Qi capability is being charged.

This device has been tested for human exposure limits and found compliant at a minimum distance of 4 in/10 cm during operation.
