1 Preparing the Machine

No Parts Required

Procedure 1. Park the machine on a level surface.

2. Lower the attachments.

3. Engage the parking brake.

4. Shut off the engine and remove the key from the ignition switch.

2 Installing the Crumber Tube and Plate Assembly

Parts needed for this procedure:

1 Crumber-tube assembly

1 Crumber-plate assembly

Procedure Important: You should have either 2 people or lifting equipment to perform this procedure.

1. Loosen and remove the 4 bolts and the 4 locknuts that secure the crumber-mounting brackets to the boom (Figure 2).

2. Install the crumber-tube assembly using the 4 locknuts and 4 bolts that you removed previously (Figure 2).

3. Secure the crumber-plate assembly to the crumber-tube assembly as shown in Figure 2.

3 Installing the Hydraulic Hoses

Parts needed for this procedure:

2 Adapter fittings

2 Hydraulic hoses

2 Hose-mount clamp

4 Bolt (1/2 x 2-1/4 inches)

Procedure 1. Install the 2 adapter fittings onto the machine (Figure

3).

2. Remove the 4 bolts, washers, and nuts (Figure 3).

Note: Discard the bolts. 3. Secure the hose-mount clamp using 4 bolts (1/2 x

2-1/4 inches) and 4 washers and the nuts previously removed as shown in Figure 3.

4. Torque the bolts to 127 to 157 Nm (94 to 116 ft-lb).

5. Route 1 of the hoses from the lower port on the cylinder to the left port on the machine (Figure 4).

6. Route the other hose from the upper port on the cylinder to the right port on the machine (Figure 5).

4 Securing the Hydraulic Hoses

Parts needed for this procedure:

4 Tube clamp

2 Cover plate

2 Bolt (5/16 x 1-1/2 inches)

3 Bolt (3/8 x 2-1/2 inches)

3 Hex nut (3/8 inch)

1 Upper angle conduit

1 Lower angle conduit

1 Tall, front angle conduit

1 Tall, rear angle conduit

1 Angle tie

2 Washer

2 Bolt (1 x 2-1/2 inches)

5 Hex nut (1/2 inch)

3 Bolt (3/8 x 2-1/2 inches)

1 Bolt (3/8-16 x 1 inch)

1 Bolt (3/8 x 2-3/4 inches)

Procedure 1. Secure the hydraulic hoses to the trencher drive cover

using 4 tube clamps, 2 cover plates, and 2 bolts (5/16 x 1-1/2 inches) as shown in Figure 6.

2. Torque the bolts to 31 to 37 Nm (23 to 28 ft-lb). 3. Secure the upper and lower angle conduits to the

boom-mount plate on the frame using 3 bolts (3/8 x 2-1/2 inches) and 3 hex nuts (3/8 inch) as shown in Figure 7.

Note: When the boom is up, there should not be any slack in the hoses.

Note: The bolts should be behind the hydraulic hoses.

4. Torque the 3 bolts (3/8 x 2-1/2 inches) to 51 to 65 Nm (38 to 48 ft-lb).

5. Remove the bolts and nuts from the crumber-bracket bar (Figure 8).

Note: Discard the bolts.

6. Secure the angle tie to the tall, front angle conduit using 1 bolt (3/8 x 1 inch) and 1 nut (3/8 inch) as shown in Figure 8.

7. Torque the bolt (3/8 x 1 inch) to 51 to 65 Nm (38 to 48 ft-lb).

8. Secure the tall, front angle conduit to the crumber bracket using 2 washers and 2 bolts (1 x 2-1/2 inches) and the 2 bolts previously removed (Figure 8).

9. Torque the 2 bolts (1 x 2-1/2 inches) to 732 to 894 Nm (540 to 660 ft-lb).

10. Secure the tall, rear angle conduit to the tall, front angle conduit using 3 bolts (3/8 x 2-1/2 inches) and 3 nuts (3/8 inch) as shown in Figure 8.

11. Torque the 3 bolts (3/8 x 2-1/2 inches) to 51 to 65 Nm (38 to 48 ft-lb).

12. Secure the angle tie to the upper and lower angle conduit assembly using 1 bolt (3/8 x 2-3/4 inches) and 1 nut (3/8 inch) as shown in Figure 8.

13. Torque the bolt (3/8 x 2-3/4 inches) to 60 to 76 Nm (44 to 56 ft-lb).

5 Installing the Switch

Parts needed for this procedure:

1 Switch

Procedure 1. Remove the 6 hex-flanged bolts (12 x 30 mm) that

secure the rear-cover plate to the rear bulkhead of the machine, and remove the cover plate (Figure 9).
