Please read these safety instructions carefully before use, and keep this manual in a safe place

for your future reference.

Keep away from direct sunlight and away from chemicals. Make sure the environment does not experience abrupt changes in temperature or humidity.

Do keep Synology product upright. Do not lay it down horizontally.

Do not place the Synology product close to any liquid.

Before cleaning, unplug the power cord first. Wipe Synology product with damp paper towels. Do not use chemical or aerosol cleaners to clean it.

Do not place the Synology product on a cart, table, or desk, which is not stable to avoid the product from falling over.

The power cord must plug in to the right supply voltage. Make sure that the supplied AC voltage is correct and stable.

There are slots on the button of Synology product for ventilation. To make sure Synology product is operating under normal condition, please do not block or cover those slots to avoid the product from overheating.

INSTALL HARD DISK

DS-106j requires one .5 IDE hard disk for installation. Refer to the following steps for details:

Warning! If you use a hard disk with data on it to install, system will format the hard disk and erase all data in some cases. Please back up the data if you need it in the future.

Assemble the prepared IDE HDD to the Bracket and use the 5mm screws on both side of the Bracket to fix the HDD.

Place DS-106j sideway with USB COPY button upward and slide open the side cover at the direction indicated.

When opening the side cover, please be careful to keep the USB cable connected to the mainboard.

INSTALL HARD DISK

Place USB Cable under IDE Cable. This will help eliminate the Electromagnetic Interference.

Place the assembled IDE HDD with Bracket into DS-106j and connect it with IDE and Power cable.

Use the 10mm screws to assemble the Bracket to the mainboard.

Stick one aluminum foil sticker on the hard disk and the LAN port. Then use the other one to stick on the hard disk and the USB port. This helps eliminate the Electromagnetic Interference.

Arrange the cables while closing the side cover and slide back as indicated.

Use Black screws at the back of DS-106j to assemble the side cover to complete the installation process.

TURN ON SERVER

Connect the AC power adapter to the server and plug in the AC power cord to the power outlet.

Use the LAN cable to connect the server to your switch/router/hub.

Press the power button on the front panel to power up the server. Wait for the POWER LED to be constant blue.

Windows User

Insert the installation CD to your computer.

Choose Set up the Synology Server on the autorun menu.

Click Browse to select the .pat installation file in the installation CD.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process.

Note: If you choose One-Click Setup, the admin password will be blank.

Mac User

Insert the installation CD to your computer.

Double click on the CD-Rom Drive thumbnail.

Double click MacOSX.

Double click Synology Assistant-SYNOLOGY.dmg.

Double click on the automatically generated thumbnail Synology Assistant-SYNOLOGY. dmg on the desktop.

Double click Synology Assistant to run the Setup Wizard.

FESTPLATTE INSTALLIEREN

Der DS-106j erfordert eine ,5 IDE Festplatte zur Installation. Die folgenden Schritte bieten weitere Einzelheiten:

Warnung! Wenn Sie zur Installation eine Festplatte verwenden, die bereits Daten enthlt, knnen diese gelscht werden, da das System die Festplatte neu formatiert. Bitte sichern Sie Ihre Daten, wenn Sie diese zuknftig noch bentigen.

Montieren Sie die vorbereitete IDE-Festplatte an der Halterung und verwenden Sie die 5 mm Schrauben auf beiden Seiten der Halterung, um die Festplatte zu sichern.

Das DS-106j mit der Taste USB COPY nach oben seitlich anbringen und die Seitenabdeckung in der angezeigten Richtung aufschieben.

Beim ffnen der seitlichen Abdeckung vorsichtig vorgehen, damit das USB-Kabel am Hauptboard angeschlossen bleibt.

Das USB-Kabel unter dem IDE-Kabel verlegen. Hierdurch werden elektromagnetische Strungen verhindert.

Die montierte IDE-Festplatte mit der Halterung im DS-106j platzieren und an die IDE- und Stromkabel anschlieen.

Die Halterung mit den 10 mm Schrauben am Hauptboard anbringen.

FESTPLATTE INSTALLIEREN

Einen Aluminium-Aufkleber auf der Festplatte und einen auf dem LAN-Anschluss anbringen. Den anderen Aluminium-Aufkleber auf der Festplatte und einen auf dem USB-Anschluss anbringen. Hierdurch werden ebenfalls elektromagnetische Strungen verhindert.

Die Kabel anordnen und dabei die Seitenabdeckung schlieen, indem sie wie abgebildet nach hinten geschoben wird.

Die schwarzen Schrauben an der Rckseite des DS-106j verwenden, um die Seitenabdeckung anzubringen und das Installationsverfahren abzuschlieen.

SERVER ANSCHALTEN

Schlieen Sie den Wechselstromadapter an den Server und das Wechselstromkabel an eine Stromquelle an.

Verwenden Sie das LAN-Kabel, um den Server an Ihren Schalter/Router/Hub anzuschlieen.

Den Server mit der Netztaste an der Vorderseite anschalten. Warten Sie, bis die Netzstrom-LED konstant blau aufleuchtet.

INSTALLATION DU DISQUE DUR

Linstallation dun disque dur IDE ,5 po est requise pour les modles DS-106j. Consultez les tapes suivantes pour de plus amples informations :

Avertissement Si vous utilisez un disque dur contenant des donnes pour linstallation, le systme formatera le disque dur et dans certains cas effacera toutes les donnes. Veuillez sauvegarder les donnes si vous en avez besoin dans le futur.

Attachez le disque dur IDE prpar aux fixations laide des vis de 5mm.

Placez la DS-106j sur le ct, bouton USB Copy vers le haut et faites glisser le capot latral dans la direction indique.

Lorsque vous ouvrez le capot latral, veillez laisser le cble USB connect la carte mre.

Placez le cble USB en dessous du cble IDE. Ceci permet dliminer les interfrences

lectromagntiques.

Placez lassemblage disque dur et fixations dans la DS-106j et connectez-le aux cbles IDE et alimentation.

Attachez les fixations la carte mre laide des vis de 10mm.

Collez une bande daluminium sur le disque dur et le port de rseau local. Puis utilisez lautre pour coller le disque dur et le port USB. Ceci permet galement dliminer les interfrences lectromagntiques.

Disposez les cbles en fermant le capt latral et faites-le glisser comme illustr.

Fixez le capot latral larrire de la DS-106j laide des vis noires pour terminer le processus.

METTRE LE SERVEUR SOUS TENSION

Branchez ladaptateur secteur au serveur et branchez le cordon dalimentation secteur la prise de courant.

Utilisez le cble rseau pour brancher le serveur votre commutateur/routeur/ concentrateur.

Appuyez sur le bouton dalimentation sur la face avant pour allumer le serveur. Attendez que le voyant DEL bleu de lalimentation ne clignote plus.

Insrez le CD dinstallation dans lordinateur.

Dans le menu automatique, slectionnez Configuration du Synology Server .

Cliquez sur Parcourir pour slectionner le fichier dinstallation .pat dans le CD dinstallation.

Suivez les instructions lcran pour terminer le processus dinstallation.

INSTALLAZIONE DEL DISCO RIGIDO (HDD)

Il DS-106j richiede un disco rigido IDE da .5 per essere installato. Per effettuare linstallazione, seguire i passaggi seguenti:

Avvertenza: Se per linstallazione si utilizza un disco rigido nel quale sono presenti dei dati, il sistema provveder a formattare questo disco. Effettuare un back up dei dati prima di procedere.

Assemblare lHard Disk IDE sulla staffa ed utilizzare le viti da 5mm su entrambi i lati della stessa per fissare lHDD.

Posizionare il DS-106j di lato con il tasto USB COPY rivolto verso lalto e far scorrere il coperchio laterale nella direzione indicata.

Nellaprire il coperchio laterale, prestare attenzione a che il cavo USB resti collegato alla scheda madre.

INSTALLAZIONE DEL DISCO RIGIDO (HDD)

Porre il cavo USB sotto il cavo IDE. In questo modo si eliminano le interferenze elettromagnetiche.

Posizionare lHDD IDE assemblato alla Staffa nel DS-106j e collegarlo con il cavo IDE e di alimentazione.

Usare le viti da 10mm per assemblare la staffa alla scheda madre.

INSTALACIN DEL DISCO DURO

La unidad DS-106j precisa un disco duro IDE de ,5 pulgadas para su instalacin. Consulte los siguientes pasos para obtener ms informacin:

Advertencia: Si utiliza un disco duro con datos para realizar la instalacin, el sistema lo formatear y borrar todos sus datos en algunos casos. Realice una copia de seguridad de los datos si los va a necesitar en el futuro.

Monte el disco duro IDE preparado en el soporte y fjelo por medio de los tornillos de 5 mm a ambos lados del soporte.

Coloque el DS-106j de lado con el botn USB COPY hacia arriba y abra la cubierta lateral deslizndola en la direccin indicada.

Al abrir la cubierta lateral, tenga cuidado de mantener el cable USB conectado a la placa principal.
