English 1 Introduction

Thank you for your purchase. The information contained in this manual will help you receive maximum performance and satisfaction from your KombiMotor and, if followed, reduce the risk of injury from its use.

In the STIHL KombiSystem, the battery-powered KMA 130 R KombiMotor can be combined with an assortment of STIHL KombiTools to produce different power tools.

In this instruction manual, "power tool" is used to designate the tool formed by the combination of the KMA 130 R and a STIHL KombiTool. STIHL KombiTools are sold separately.

Always read and follow the safety precautions and warnings found in this manual and the manual for the KombiTool. They must be used together. Keep them in a safe place for future reference.

Because this KombiMotor is the powerhead for a high-speed power tool, special safety precautions must be observed to reduce the risk of personal injury.

4.1 KombiMotor

1 Socket Socket for the battery connecting cord.

2 Control Handle Handle for the operator's rear hand.

3 LEDs Indicate the unit's power level.

4 Retaining Latch Locks / unlocks the trigger switch. Sets the unit's power level when it is in active mode.

5 Trigger Switch Lockout Must be depressed while the retaining latch is unlocked to allow activation of the trigger switch.

6 Trigger Switch Controls the activation and speed of the KombiMotor.

7 Carrying Ring For connecting a harness to the power tool.

8 Drive Tube Shaft of the KombiMotor.

9 Loop Handle Handle for the operator's front hand.

10 Barrier Bar Designed to reduce the risk of inadvertent operator contact with the cutting/working attachment.

11 Coupling Sleeve Connects the KombiMotor to the KombiTool (stub shaft).

12 Wing Screw Secures the KombiTool (stub shaft) to the KombiMotor.

# Rating Plate Contains electrical information and the product's serial number.

4.2 Battery Harness Options

The KMA 130 may be powered by a STIHL AR series backpack battery. Alternatively, it may be powered by a STIHL AP series battery in combination with a STIHL AP Battery Bag with Connecting Cord.

A variety of battery harness options are available for use with the KMA 130. (Batteries, battery harnesses and other accessories sold separately.)

1 STIHL AR Backpack Battery Backpack battery.

2 Connecting Cord Transmits electric current from the battery to the power tool.

3 Hip Pad Attaches to the backpack harness and helps support the power tool.

4 Plug Part of the connecting cord that fits into the power tool socket.

5 STIHL Battery Backpack For carrying up to two AP series batteries on your back.

6 AP Battery Bag with Connecting Cord Holds an AP battery and connects it to the power tool.

7 STIHL Battery Belt For carrying up to two AP series batteries on your hip.

The KMA 130 is sold with a single harness (shown in chapter @ 14.3.2). Other items are available as accessories.

6.1 General Safety Warnings and Instructions for Battery-Powered Products

This section contains the prescribed general safety warnings and instructions for battery-powered products contained in UL 2595. The warnings in this section apply to all power tools created with the KMA 130 R KombiMotor. Additional important warnings and instructions are provided in subsequent chapters of this manual.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING Read all safety warnings and instructions.

Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, explosion and/or serious injury or property damage.

Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the trigger switch is in the off-position before inserting the battery, picking up or carrying the power tool. Carrying the power tool with your finger on the trigger switch or inserting the battery with the trigger switch engaged increases the likelihood of unintended starting and possible accidents.

Remove the battery from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

Recharge only with the charger specified by STIHL. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery may create a risk of fire when used with another battery.

Use the power tool only with the specifically designated batteries. Use of any other battery may create a risk of fire or explosion and personal injury or property damage.

Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation, chemical burns or respiratory illness from inhalation.

Do not use a battery or power tool that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion and risk of injury or property damage.

Do not expose a battery or the power tool to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 212 F (100 C) may cause fire and explosion.

Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery outside of the ambient temperature range specified. Charging improperly or outside the specified range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.

Have servicing performed by a qualified repair person using only authorized replacement parts. This will help maintain the safety and performance of the product.

Do not modify or attempt to repair the power tool or the battery pack. Follow the instructions for use and care.

This section contains the prescribed general safety warnings and instructions for handheld, motor-operated electric trimmers, lawn edgers and cultivators contained in UL 82. Additional important warnings and instructions are provided in subsequent sections of this manual.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING When using electric trimmers, lawn edgers or cultivators, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury, including the following:

Avoid Dangerous Environment Dont use trimmer, lawn edger or cultivator in damp or wet locations.

Keep Children Away All bystanders should be kept at a distance from work area.

Dress Properly Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. They can be caught in moving parts. Heavy-duty work gloves (e.g. made of leather or other wear resistant material) and substantial footwear are recommended when working outdoors. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair.

Use Safety Glasses Always use face or dust mask if operation is dusty.

Use Right Tool Do not use tool for any job except that for which it is intended.

Avoid Unintentional Starting Do not carry trimmer, lawn edger or cultivator with your finger on the trigger switch. Be sure the trimmer, lawn edger or cultivator is off before inserting the connecting cord.

Dont Force Trimmer, Lawn Edger or Cultivator It will do the job better and with less likelihood of a risk of injury at the rate for which it was designed.

Dont Overreach Keep proper footing and balance at all times.

Stay Alert Watch what you are doing. Use common sense. Do not operate trimmer, lawn edger or cultivator when you are tired.

Store Trimmer, Lawn Edger or Cultivator Indoors When not in use, trimmer, lawn edger and cultivator should be stored indoors in a dry, locked place out of reach of children with the battery removed.

Maintain Trimmer, Lawn Edger or Cultivator With Care Keep cutting attachment clean for best performance and to reduce the risk of injury. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories. Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease.

Check Damaged Parts Before further use of the trimmer, lawn edger and cultivator, a guard or other part that is damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and any other condition that may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized service center unless indicated elsewhere in this manual.

Inspect the connecting cord periodically and, if damaged, have it repaired by an authorized service facility.

6.3.1 Introduction This chapter contains the prescribed general safety warnings and instructions for handheld, motor-operated electric power tools and motor-operated, electric hedge trimmers contained in UL 60745-1 and UL 60745-2-15. Additional important warnings and instructions are provided in subsequent chapters of this manual.

a)Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce the risk of electric shock.

b)Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.

c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.

d)Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.

e)When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.

f) If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) or ground fault circuit interruptor (GFCI) protected supply. Use of an RCD or GFCI reduces the risk of electric shock.

6.3.4 Personal Safety

a)Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.

b)Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non- skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.

c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energizing power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.

d)Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.

e)Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.

f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.

g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

h)Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.

6.3.5 Power Tool Use and Care

a)Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

b)Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack, if detachable, from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

d)Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

e)Maintain power tools and accessories. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power

g)Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

h)Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.

6.3.6 Battery Tool Use and Care

a)Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.

b)Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.

c) When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.

d)Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.

e)Do not use a battery pack or tool that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behaviour resulting in fire/explosion or risk of injury.

f) Do not expose a battery pack or tool to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperatures above 100 C may cause explosion.

g)Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack or tool outside the temperature range specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside the specified range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.

6.3.7 Service

a)Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

b)Never service damaged battery packs. Service of battery packs should only be performed by the manufacturer or authorized service provider.

6.3.8 Hedge Trimmer Safety Warnings

a)Keep all parts of the body away from the cutter blade. Do not remove cut material or hold material to be cut when blades are moving. Make sure the switch is off when clearing jammed material. Blades coast after turn off. A moment of inattention while operating the hedge trimmer may result in serious personal injury.

b)Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle with the cutter blade stopped. Proper handling of the hedge trimmer will reduce possible personal injury from the cutter blades.

c) Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces only, because the cutter blade may contact hidden wiring. Cutter blades contacting a "live" wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and could give the operator an electric shock.

7.5 Using the Power Tool 7.5.1 Before Operation

The KombiTool must be properly installed and tightened before starting work. Failure to use the proper parts to mount the KombiTool and its cutting/working attachment will increase the risk of personal injury to the operator and bystanders.

Read and follow the instructions on mounting the KombiTool and its cutting/working attachment in the KombiTool's instruction manual.

Using a power tool that is modified, damaged, improperly adjusted or maintained, or not completely and securely assembled can lead to a malfunction and increase the risk of serious personal injury or death.

Never operate a power tool that is modified, damaged, improperly maintained or not completely and securely assembled.

Always check your unit for proper condition and operation before starting work, particularly the retaining latch, trigger switch lockout and trigger switch.

Ensure that the retaining latch, trigger switch lockout and trigger switch move freely and spring back into place when released. The trigger switch must not engage until the retaining latch is unlocked and the trigger switch lockout is depressed.

Never attempt to modify or override the controls or safety devices in any way.

The cutting/working attachment must engage only when the KombiMotor is connected to a battery, the retaining latch is unlocked and the trigger switch lockout and trigger switch are depressed.

If your KombiMotor or any part, including the battery, is damaged or does not function properly, take it to your authorized STIHL servicing dealer. Do not use the unit until the problem has been corrected.

Before inserting the battery connecting cord into the KombiMotor's socket:

Check the electrical contacts in the socket and on the plug of the connecting cord for corrosion or other foreign matter. Keep clean.

If the socket is dirty or corroded, take the unit to your authorized STIHL servicing dealer before use.

Never use a malfunctioning, damaged, cracked, leaking or deformed battery.

Read and follow the instructions on switching on the power tool, @ 16.1.

To help reduce the risk of serious personal injury or death from unintentional starting:

Be sure the retaining latch is in the locked position and the trigger switch is in the off position before inserting the battery connecting cord.

Position the power tool so that all parts of your body are clear of the KombiTool and its cutting/working attachment whenever the connecting cord is inserted.

Be extremely cautious when working on slopes or uneven ground, as the battery may alter your center of balance.

For better footing, always clear away fallen branches, scrub, cuttings and other material, objects or vegetation that can increase the danger of slipping, tripping or falling.

Do not overreach.

The power tool should be balanced for proper control and less fatigue during operation.

Adjust the position of the loop handle and/or harness to achieve and maintain a comfortable and effective working position, @ 13.2.

To reduce the risk of injury from tripping or losing control of the power tool:

Adjust the battery backpack harness straps so that the backplate fits snugly and securely against your back. Never carry an AR backpack battery or AP Battery Backpack with the carrying straps over one shoulder.

If working with the STIHL AP Battery Bag with Connecting Cord, make sure it is attached securely to your STIHL Battery Belt, STIHL Battery Backpack or a quick-release work belt.

Always position and secure the connecting cord so that it will not interfere with proper working technique or your ability to control the power tool. Secure the connecting cord as directed in the instruction manual for your AR backpack battery, AP Battery Bag with Connecting Cord, STIHL Battery Belt or STIHL Battery Backpack.

Keep the connecting cord away from the KombiTool and its cutting/working attachment.

Remain aware of the location of the connecting cord while working. Prevent it from contacting the KombiTool or cutting/working attachment or catching on other objects, which could cause you to lose balance or control, resulting in serious personal injury and property damage.

7.5.3 Working Conditions

WARNING Operate your power tool only under good visibility during

favorable daylight conditions. Postpone the work if the weather is windy, foggy,

rainy or inclement.

Your power tool is a one-person machine. Bystanders, especially children, and animals should

not be allowed in the area where it is in use.

Switch it off immediately if you are approached.

To reduce the risk of injury to bystanders and unauthorized users:

Never leave the unit unattended when it is connected to a battery.

Switch off the unit and remove the connecting cord before work breaks and any other time the power tool is not in use.

Sparks generated from operation of the power tool may be capable of igniting combustible gases, liquids, vapors, dusts or other combustible materials and substances. To reduce the risk of fire and explosion:

Never operate the power tool in a location where combustible gases, liquids, vapors, dusts or other combustible materials and substances are present.

Read and follow recommendations issued by government authorities (e.g., OSHA) for identifying and avoiding the hazards of combustible gases, liquids, vapors, dusts or other combustible materials and substances.

If a rotating metal blade strikes a rock or other hard object, sparks may be created, which can ignite flammable materials under certain circumstances. Flammable materials can include dry vegetation and brush, particularly when weather conditions are hot and dry.

When there is a risk of fire or wildfire, do not use metal blades around flammable materials or around dry vegetation or brush.

Contact your local fire authorities or the U.S. Forest Service if you have any question about whether vegetation and weather conditions are suitable for the use of a metal blade.

STIHL does not recommend the use of metal blades when cutting in rocky areas or in areas with debris or other objects that could create sparks.

Use of this power tool can generate dust and other substances containing chemicals known to cause respiratory problems, cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm.

Consult governmental agencies such as EPA, OSHA, CARB and NIOSH and other authoritative sources on hazardous materials if you are unfamiliar with the risks associated with the particular substances you are cutting or with which you are working.

Inhalation of certain dusts, especially organic dusts such as mold or pollen, can cause susceptible persons to have an allergic or asthmatic reaction. Substantial or repeated inhalation of dust or other airborne contaminants, especially those with a smaller particle size, may cause respiratory or other illnesses.

Control dust at the source where possible.

To the extent possible, operate the power tool so that the wind or operating process directs any dust, mist or other particulate matter raised by the power tool away from the operator.

When respirable dust or other particulate matter cannot be kept at or near background levels, always wear a respirator that is approved by NIOSH and rated for worksite-specific conditions. Follow the

recommendations of governmental authorities (e.g., OSHA/NIOSH) and occupational and trade associations.

If the vegetation being cut or the surrounding ground is coated with a chemical substance, such as a pesticide or herbicide:

Read and follow the instructions and warnings that accompanied the substance coating the vegetation or surrounding ground.

7.5.4 Operating Instructions

WARNING In the event of an emergency, switch off the motor

A cracked, damaged or worn out KombiTool or cutting/working attachment may shatter at high speeds and cause serious or fatal injury.

9 Battery Safety

Never heat the battery above 212 F (100 C).

Never incinerate or place the battery on or near fires, stoves or other high- temperature locations.

English 10 Before Starting Work

To reduce the risk of personal injury and property damage in the event the battery emits smoke, an unusual smell or feels unusually hot while using, charging or storing:

Immediately discontinue using or charging the battery. Contact the authorities in the event of fire or explosion.

To reduce the risk of a short circuit, which could lead to electric shock, fire and explosion:

Never bridge the battery terminals with wires or other metallic objects.

Keep a battery that is not in use away from metal objects (e.g., paper clips, nails, coins, keys).

Never transport or store the battery in a metal container.

Store the battery indoors in a dry room.

Never store the battery in damp or corrosive environments or in conditions that could lead to corrosion of its metal components.

Protect the battery from exposure to corrosive agents such as garden chemicals and de-icing salts.

Protect the battery from exposure to conductive liquids such as salt water.

Do not attempt to repair, open or disassemble the battery. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.

Leaking battery fluid is potentially harmful and can cause skin and eye irritation, chemical burns and other serious personal injury.

Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Use an inert absorbent such as sand on spilled battery fluid.

In the event of accidental contact, immediately rinse the contact area thoroughly with mild soap and water.

If fluid gets into your eye(s): do not rub. Rinse water over the open eye(s) for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.

A battery fire can be dangerous. To reduce the risk of severe personal injury and property damage in the event of fire:

Evacuate the area. Fire can spread rapidly. Stay clear of any vapors generated and maintain a safe distance.

Contact the fire department.

Although water can be used to put out a battery fire, use of a multi-purpose dry chemical fire extinguisher is preferable.

Consult the fire department regarding proper disposal of a burned battery.

10.1 Preparing the KombiMotor for Operation

Before starting work:

Fully charge the battery, @ 11. Mount the loop handle and barrier bar, @ 13.1.

Use and store the battery only within an ambient temperature range of 14 F to 122 F (-10 C to 50 C).

Never store the battery in direct sunlight or inside a vehicle in hot weather.

Keep STIHL AR 900,1000, 2000, 3000 backpack batteries dry. Protect from rain, water and other liquids. Attach the rain cover to a STIHL AR 1000, 2000, 3000 battery before starting work in rain or in very damp conditions.

If a STIHL AP or AR L battery has been exposed to rain during work, remove it from the product and allow it to dry indoors. Make sure it is completely dry before charging or using.

Never immerse any STIHL battery in water or other liquids.

Mount an approved STIHL KombiTool as described in its instruction manual.

Put on and adjust the STIHL AR backpack battery, STIHL Battery Belt or STIHL Battery Backpack, @ 14.

Adjust the loop handle, @ 13.2. Check the controls for proper function and condition, @ 17.1.

11.1 Setting up the Charger

WARNING Read and follow the safety precautions on the battery and charger and all warnings and instructions that accompany those products. To reduce the risk of short circuit, which could lead to electric shock, fire and explosion, make sure the charger and its components are dry and not damaged; operate the charger indoors at an appropriate ambient temperature.

WARNING A typical household electric circuit is between 15 and 20 amps. A single STIHL AL 500 charger draws approximately 4.8 amps. A single AL 300 charger draws approximately 4.4 amps. To reduce the risk of fire from overloading an electrical circuit: Ensure the electrical system is rated to withstand the

expected electrical draw before charging your battery.

Charge multiple batteries one at a time or on separate circuits, unless you know your circuit can handle the total expected draw from multiple chargers.

WARNING Since the charger heats up during the charging process, do not operate the charger on a combustible surface or in a location where combustible gases, liquids, vapors, dusts or other materials and substances are present.

To set up the charger:

Insert the plug (3) into a properly installed electrical outlet (4) matching the voltage and electrical frequency stated on the rating plate on the charger.

The charger runs a self-test immediately after it is plugged in. The charger LED (1) will glow green for about 1 second, then it will glow red briefly before going out. Once the LED goes out, the self-test is complete and the charger is ready to charge the battery.

Position the power supply cord (2) so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, come in contact with sharp objects or moving parts or otherwise be subjected to damage or stress.

11.2 Charging

WARNING STIHL batteries contain safety features and devices which, if damaged, may allow the battery to generate heat, rupture, leak, ignite or explode. Never charge a malfunctioning, damaged, cracked, leaking or deformed battery, or use a charger that has been damaged. Never insert a wet battery or battery adapter. Never use a wet charger. Follow all product-specific warnings and instructions accompanying your battery and charger. A battery is not fully charged when it ships from the factory. STIHL recommends that you fully charge the battery before using it the first time.

Operate the charger only indoors, in dry rooms and within an ambient temperature range of 41 F to 104 F (5 C to 40 C).

The battery heats up during operation of the power tool. If a hot battery is connected to the charger, it may be necessary for it to cool down before charging starts. The charging process begins only after the battery has cooled down sufficiently.

Charging time depends on a number of factors, including battery condition and the ambient temperature. For a complete list of approximate charging times, see www.stihl.com/charging-times.

To charge an AR battery:

Push the plug of the connecting cord (1) into the socket (2) of the AP Adapter (3) until it stops.

Push the AP Adapter into the charger (5) until it stops. The LED on the charger (4) glows green when the battery is charging.

The LEDs on the AR battery glow green and show the state of charge.

When the LEDs on the battery turn off, the charging process is complete and the charger will shut itself off. The AP Adapter can be removed from the charger.

Disconnect the power supply cord from the electrical outlet when the charger is not in use.

Charge STIHL AR backpack batteries only with genuine STIHL AL 300 or AL 500 series chargers.

To charge an AP battery:

Push the battery (2) into the charger (3) until it stops. The LED on the charger glows green when the battery is charging.

The LEDs (1) on the AP battery glow green and show the state of charge.

When the LEDs on the battery go out, the charging process is complete and the charger will shut itself off. The AP battery can be removed from the charger.

Disconnect the power supply cord from the electrical outlet when the charger is not in use.

These LEDs can glow or flash green or red.

Be aware that your ability to hear the acoustic signal may be reduced when wearing hearing protection.

12.1.2 Power Tool Status

When the battery is connected to the power tool, the same LEDs on the battery will indicate the status of the power tool.

If three LEDs glow red continuously: the power tool motor is too hot. Allow the motor to cool down.

If three LEDs flash red when you activate the trigger switch: the power tool has an electrical malfunction. Do not operate the power tool. Have it checked by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer before use or storage.

12.1.3 Charge Status

The LEDs and acoustic signals on the battery also indicate the battery's state of charge.

To determine the battery's state of charge:

Press the button (1) on the backpack battery. A single short beep will be emitted. The LEDs on the battery will glow or flash green for about 5 seconds and indicate the state of charge (see illustration).

For example:

If six green LEDs glow continuously: full charge.

If one green LED is flashing and four long beeps are emitted: less than 20 % charge.

12.2 STIHL AP Battery 12.2.1 Battery Status Four LEDs show the status of the battery. These LEDs can glow or flash green or red.

If one LED glows red continuously: the battery is either too hot or too cold. Allow the battery to warm up or cool down gradually at an ambient temperature of about 50 F to 68 F (10 C to 20 C).

If the four right side LEDs flash red and a rapid succession of several short beeps is emitted: the battery has a malfunction and must be replaced. Do not attempt to charge, use or store the battery.

To mount the loop handle and barrier bar:

Switch off the power tool, @ 16.2. Remove the connecting cord, @ 15.2.

Insert the square nuts (2) in the barrier bar (1) and line up the holes.

Position one clamp (5) in the loop handle (3). Position the other clamp (7) against the underside of the

drive tube and line up the holes in the loop handle and clamps.

If one LED glows red continuously: the battery is either too hot or too cold. Allow the battery to warm up or cool down gradually at an ambient temperature of about 50 F to 68 F (10 C to 20 C).

If all 4 LEDs flash red: the battery has a malfunction and must be replaced. Do not attempt to charge, use or store the battery.

Place the barrier bar (4) in position over the holes in the loop handle.

Insert the screws (8) and tighten securely. Ensure that the handle and barrier bar are tight and will not move during operation.

13.2 Adjusting the Loop Handle The loop handle can be set in different positions to suit the height and reach of the operator.

To adjust the position of the loop handle:

Switch off the power tool, @ 16.2. Remove the connecting cord, @ 15.2.

Loosen the screws (2) that attach the loop handle to the trimmer shaft.

Slide the loop handle (1) to the desired position, subject to the following limitations: Always keep the spacer (3) positioned between the loop

handle and carrier ring. If you are working with an FS-KM KombiTool mounted

with a mowing head, the distance marked "a" must be less than 11.8 in. (30 cm).

If you are working with an FS-KM KombiTool mounted with a metal cutting attachment, the distance marked "a" must be less than 9.8 in. (25 cm).

Tighten the screws until the loop handle is secure and can no longer be moved along the drive tube.

14.1 STIHL AR Backpack Battery 14.1.1 Positioning and Adjusting the Connecting Cord

WARNING To reduce the risk of injury from tripping or losing control of the power tool, always secure the connecting cord through the backpack guides and with the hook and eye fasteners as described below. Position and secure the connecting cord so that it will not interfere with proper working technique or your ability to maintain control of the power tool.

WARNING Manage the cord to prevent it from contacting the cutting/working attachment or catching on objects, which could cause you to lose balance or control of the power tool, resulting in serious personal injury and property damage. The connecting cord can be secured in different positions and adjusted to suit the height and reach of the operator.

The connecting cord can run through the guide on the shoulder strap (Illustration A), or along the back plate (Illustration B). Secure the connecting cord to the backpack frame with the hook and eye fasteners (1). Always secure the connecting cord using the guide or hook and eye fasteners on the side of the body on which the power tool is held and controlled. The length of the connecting cord can be adjusted by making a loop around the top (Illustration C) or on the side (Illustration D) of the backpack battery with the hook and eye fasteners.

14.1.2 Putting on the Harness

WARNING To reduce the risk of personal injury, the operator must be able to remove the backpack battery quickly in the event of an emergency. In an emergency, open and remove the waist belt and chest strap quickly before dropping the battery to the ground.

To ensure a proper fit:

Put the backpack battery on your back. Fasten and adjust the waist belt (2) so that it rests

comfortably but securely on your hips.

Fasten the chest strap (1) and adjust it so that it fits comfortably but securely across your chest.

Adjust the harness straps so that the back padding fits firmly and securely against your back.

Thread the end of the waist belt through the loop (3). To remove the harness, open the quick-release fasteners

on the waist belt and chest strap and loosen the harness straps by lifting the sliding adjusters.

To help reduce the risk of injury in the event of an emergency, practice quickly opening the fasteners on the waist belt and chest strap, loosening the shoulder straps and removing the battery.

NOTICE

To avoid damage, ease the battery to the ground when practicing. Do not allow the battery to drop to the ground and do not throw it.

The AP Battery Bag with Connecting Cord can be mounted at the top (Illustration A) or bottom (Illustrations B and C) fastening points inside the STIHL Battery Backpack. Mount so that the connecting cord exits the backpack on the side of your body where the power tool will be held and controlled.

The STIHL Extra AP Battery Bag can be mounted at the top (Illustration D) or bottom (Illustration E) fastening points inside the STIHL Battery Backpack.

To attach the AP Battery Bag with Connecting Cord or Extra AP Battery Bag to the STIHL Battery Backpack:

Insert the AP battery into the AP Battery Bag with Connecting Cord or Extra AP Battery Bag.

Attach the AP Battery Bag with Connecting Cord or Extra AP Battery Bag at one of the specified locations.

If you attach the battery bag at the top position, pull the vertical strap (2) through the ring (1) and close the hook and eye fastener to secure it.

14.2.3 Putting on and Adjusting the Battery Backpack

WARNING The operator must be able to remove the battery backpack quickly in the event of an emergency. To reduce the risk of injury in an emergency, remove the waist belt and chest strap quickly before dropping the battery backpack to the ground.

To ensure a proper fit:

Put the battery backpack on your back. Fasten and adjust the waist belt (2) so that it rests

comfortably but securely on your hips. Fasten the chest strap (1) and adjust it so that it fits

comfortably but securely across your chest.

Adjust the harness straps so that the backpack fits firmly and securely against your back.

Thread the end of the waist belt through the loop (3). To remove the harness, open the quick-release fasteners

Pull the strap through the battery belt (3).

Pull the strap (1) back through the ring (2) and battery belt (3).

Fasten the hook and eye fastener.

Adjust the length of the harness strap (1) so that the carabiner (2) is about a hands width below the top of your hip.

Attach the carabiner to the carrying ring (3) on the power tool.

14.4 Attaching the Hip Pad to the AR Backpack Battery Harness or Battery Backpack

A hip pad is used to convert a battery backpack into a harness for supporting the power tool. When working with an AR backpack battery or AP battery in a battery backpack, the hip pad must be used, for example, when operating an FS-KM KombiTool mounted with a metal cutting attachment.

The hip pad must be mounted on the operator's right side.

To attach the hip pad:

Attach the quick-release fastener (5) that comes with the hip pad to the harness strap (4).

Attach the other quick-release fastener (6) that comes with the hip pad to the side buckle (7).

Connect the hip pad (8) to the harness using the quick- release fasteners (5 and 6).

Adjust the length of the hip pad strap (1) so that the carabiner (2) is about a hands width below the top of your hip.

Attach the carabiner to the carrying ring (3) on the power tool's shaft.

15.1 Inserting the Connecting Cord

To insert the connecting cord:

Line up the arrow on the connecting cord plug (2) with the arrow on the socket (1).

Push the plug straight into the socket with steady, even pressure until it is fully inserted.

15.2 Removing the Connecting Cord

WARNING To reduce the risk of severe personal injury from unintended activation, always remove the connecting cord before assembling, transporting, adjusting, cleaning, servicing, maintaining or storing the power tool. Remove the connecting cord in the event of malfunction or emergency and any time the power tool is not in use.

WARNING To reduce the risks of electric shock and other personal injuries from the loss of control, always switch off the power tool before removing the connecting cord from the socket.

To remove the connecting cord:

Release trigger switch. Pull the plug straight out of the power tool socket with

steady, even pressure.

NOTICE Avoid exposing the battery to excessive heat or cold or prolonged periods of direct sunlight. Use or storage outside the recommended ambient temperature range can reduce the performance and/or service life of the battery.

16.1 Switching On

WARNING To reduce the risk of serious or fatal injuries to the operator or bystanders, keep hands, feet and other parts of the body away from the KombiTool and its cutting/working attachment, @ 7.5.2. Do not touch the KombiTool or cutting/working attachment while the battery connecting cord is inserted. Never touch the moving KombiTool or cutting/working attachment with your hand or any part of your body, @ 7.5.4.

WARNING Never operate your power tool if it is damaged, improperly adjusted or maintained, not completely and securely assembled or not functioning properly, @ 7.4. Before switching on:

Make sure you have a secure and firm footing. Stand upright. Always hold and operate the power tool with two hands,

right hand firmly on the rear handle and the left hand firmly on the loop handle. This is true even for left-handed operators.

To switch on:

Unlock the retaining latch (1) by pushing it forward with your thumb. Hold it in this unlocked position.

Depress and hold the trigger switch lockout (2). The retaining latch can now be released and will stay in the unlocked position.

Squeeze the trigger switch (3) with your index finger. The power tool and its cutting/working attachment will be activated.

The motor will not switch on unless the retaining latch is unlocked and the trigger switch lockout and trigger switch are pressed at the same time.

The further the trigger switch is squeezed, the faster the power tool will operate.

16.2 Switching Off

WARNING The KombiTool and/or its cutting/working attachment will continue to move for a short while after the trigger switch is released. To avoid serious or fatal injury, avoid contact with the moving KombiTool and its cutting/working attachment. To reduce the risk of personal injury from unintended activation or unauthorized use, switch off the motor, ensure the KombiTool and its cutting/working attachment have stopped and remove the connecting cord before transporting the unit or putting it down.

To switch off:

Release the trigger switch and trigger switch lockout. Once the trigger switch and trigger switch lockout have been released, the retaining latch will return to its locked position and activation of the trigger switch will be blocked.

Never touch the moving KombiTool or its cutting/working attachment with your hand or any part of your body, @ 7.5.2. Keep bystanders out of the area while testing the controls.

To test the controls:

Remove the connecting cord. Unlock the retaining latch by pushing it forward with your

thumb. Hold the retaining latch in the unlocked position. Depress the trigger switch lockout and the trigger switch. Release the retaining latch, trigger switch lockout and

trigger switch. The retaining latch, trigger switch lockout and trigger switch should return to their respective locked positions. If they do not, take the unit to an authorized STIHL servicing dealer to be repaired before use.

If you can depress the trigger switch without first unlocking the retaining latch and depressing the trigger switch lockout, take the trimmer to an authorized STIHL servicing dealer to be repaired before use.

To further test the controls:

Insert the connecting cord into the power tool socket. Hold the power tool firmly with both hands, your fingers

wrapped tightly around the handles. Unlock the retaining latch and depress the trigger switch

lockout and trigger switch momentarily. The unit should switch on. If it does not, take it to an authorized STIHL servicing dealer to be repaired before use.

Release the trigger switch. The unit should switch off. If the KombiMotor does not switch off after you release the trigger switch, remove the connecting cord and take the unit to an authorized STIHL servicing dealer to be repaired before use.

18.1 Selecting the Power Level The unit can be operated at three different power settings, indicated by LEDs on the control handle. The higher the power level, the faster the cutting/working attachment will operate.

To set the power level:

Push the retaining latch (1) forward with your thumb. The LEDs indicate the power level.

Push the retaining latch forward, hold it for approximately 1 second to activate the next power level. Performing this operation at the highest power level will cause the unit to return to the first power level.

Generally, battery life will be shorter when operating continuously at the higher power levels.

18.2 Using the KombiMotor

19.1 Preparing for Transportation or Storage

20.1 Transporting the KombiMotor

When transporting the power tool:

Always transport the power tool in accordance with the instructions found in this manual and the manual for the KombiTool being used.

When transporting the KombiMotor in a vehicle, secure and position it to prevent turnover, impact and damage.

21.1 Storing the KombiMotor

22.1 Cleaning the KombiMotor

To clean the KombiMotor:

Clean polymer components with a slightly dampened cloth. Do not use detergents or solvents. They may damage the polymer components.

Do not use a pressure washer to clean the unit or otherwise spray it with water or other liquids.

Keep the socket free from foreign matter and clean as necessary with a soft brush or soft, dry cloth.

NOTICE Never spray the KombiMotor with water. Spraying it with a stream of water could result in damage to the electronics and other systems.

26.1 STIHL KMA 130 R The KMA 130 R is approved for use only with the following KombiTools:

Your emissions control system may include parts such as the zero emission equipment motor, motor controller, battery and battery charger.

MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY RESPONSIBILITIES

The emissions control system on your small off-road equipment motor is warranted for two years. If any emission- related part on your small off-road zero emission equipment motor is defective, the part will be repaired or replaced by STIHL Incorporated free of charge.

OWNERS WARRANTY RESPONSIBILITIES

As the small off-road zero emission equipment motor owner, you are responsible for the performance of the required maintenance listed in your instruction manual. STIHL Incorporated recommends that you retain all receipts covering maintenance on your small off-road zero emission equipment motor, but STIHL Incorporated cannot deny warranty coverage solely for the lack of receipts or for your failure to ensure the performance of all scheduled maintenance.

As the small off-road zero emission equipment motor owner, you should however be aware that STIHL Incorporated may deny you warranty coverage if your small off-road zero emission equipment motor or a part has failed due to abuse, neglect, improper maintenance or unapproved modifications.

You are responsible for presenting your small off-road zero emission equipment motor to an authorized STIHL dealer as soon as a problem exists. The warranty repairs should be completed in a reasonable amount of time, not to exceed 30 days.

COVERAGE BY STIHL INCORPORATED

STIHL Incorporated warrants to the ultimate purchaser and each subsequent purchaser that your small off-road zero emission equipment motor is designed, built and equipped, at the time of sale, to meet all applicable emission regulations.

STIHL Incorporated also warrants to the initial purchaser and each subsequent purchaser that your zero emission equipment motor is free from defects in materials and workmanship which cause the your zero emission equipment motor to fail to conform to applicable emission regulations for a period of two years.

DEFECTS WARRANTY PERIOD

The warranty periods will begin on the date the utility zero emission equipment motor is purchased by the initial purchaser. If any emission-related part on your zero emission equipment motor is defective, the part will be replaced by STIHL Incorporated at no cost to the owner.

Add-on or modified parts that are not exempted by CARB may not be used. The use of any non-exempted add-on or modified parts will be grounds for disallowing a warranty claim. STIHL Incorporated will not be liable to warrant failures of warranted parts caused by the use of a non- exempted add-on or modified part.

The warranty on emissions-related parts will be interpreted as follows:

1)Any warranted part that is not scheduled for replacement as required maintenance in the written instructions required in the Emission Warranty Parts List (see below) must be warranted for the warranty period defined in Subsection COVERAGE BY STIHL INCORPORATED, see above. If any such part fails during the period of warranty coverage, it must be repaired or replaced by the manufacturer according to Subsection (4) below. Any such part repaired or replaced under the warranty must be warranted for the remaining warranty period.

2)Any warranted part that is scheduled only for regular inspection in the written instructions required by the Emission Warranty parts List (see below) must be warranted for the warranty period defined in Subsection

COVERAGE BY STIHL INCORPORATED, see above. A statement in such written instructions to the effect of repair or replace as necessary will not reduce the period of warranty coverage. Any such part repaired or replaced under warranty must be warranted for the remaining period.

3)Any warranted part that is scheduled for replacement as required maintenance in the written instructions required by the Emission Warranty Parts List (see below) must be warranted for the period of time prior to the first scheduled replacement point for that part. If the part fails prior to the first scheduled replacement, the part must be repaired or replaced by the zero emission equipment motor manufacturer according to Subsection (4) below. Any such part repaired or replaced under warranty must be warranted for the remainder of the period prior to the first scheduled replacement point for the part.

4)Repair or replacement of any warranted part under the warranty must be performed at a warranty station at no charge to the owner.

5)Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection (4) above, warranty services or repairs will be provided at all manufacturer distribution centers that are authorized to service the subject zero emission equipment motor.

6)The owner must not be charged for diagnostic labor that leads to the determination that a warranted part is in fact defective, provided that such diagnostic work is performed at a warranty station.

WARRANTY WORK

STIHL Incorporated shall remedy warranty defects at any authorized STIHL dealer or warranty station. Any such work shall be free of charge to the owner if it is determined that a warranted part is defective. Any manufacturer approved or equivalent replacement part may be used for any warranty maintenance or repairs on emission-related parts and must be provided without charge to the owner. STIHL Incorporated is liable for damages to other zero emission equipment motor components caused by the failure of a warranted part still under warranty.

Gracias por su compra. La informacin que contiene este manual lo ayudar a obtener el mximo rendimiento y satisfaccin del KombiMotor, y a reducir el riesgo de lesiones que supone su uso, si dicha informacin se respeta.

En el KombiSystem de STIHL, el KombiMotor KMA 130 R de bateras puede combinarse con una variedad de herramientas KombiTool de STIHL para formar herramientas motorizadas diferentes.

En este manual de instrucciones, el trmino herramienta motorizada se emplea para designar la herramienta formada por la combinacin del motor KMA 130 R con una KombiTool de STIHL. Las herramientas KombiTool de STIHL se venden por separado.

Siempre lea y atngase a las precauciones de seguridad y advertencias dadas en este manual y en el manual de la KombiTool. Deben utilizarse en conjunto. Guarde los manuales en un lugar seguro para referencia futura.

En este manual de instrucciones, el trmino herramienta motorizada se emplea para designar la herramienta formada por la combinacin del motor KombiEngine/KombiMotor con un accesorio KombiTool de STIHL.

4.2 Opciones de arneses para la batera

El KMA 130 puede recibir alimentacin de una batera de mochila serie AR de STIHL. Como alternativa, puede recibir alimentacin de una batera AP de STIHL cuando se usa en combinacin con una bolsa para batera AP y cordn de conexin de STIHL.

Hay una variedad de opciones de arneses que pueden usarse con el KMA 130. (Las bateras, los arneses y otros accesorios se venden por separado).

Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales o daos a la propiedad debido a incendios, explosiones o quemaduras, incluidas las quemaduras qumicas, no desarme, aplaste, deje caer, dae o caliente la unidad a ms de 100C (212F). Nunca la exponga al fuego ni la incinere, @ 9.

Bateras serie AP

Las bateras se venden por separado.

6.1 Advertencias de seguridad e instrucciones generales para productos alimentados por bateras

Esta seccin contiene las advertencias de seguridad generales e instrucciones prescritas para productos de bateras contenidas en la norma UL 2595. Las advertencias dadas en esta seccin rigen para todas las herramientas motorizadas formadas con un KombiMotor KMA 130 R. En los siguientes captulos de este manual, se proporcionan otras advertencias e instrucciones importantes.

INSTRUCCIONES IMPORTANTES DE SEGURIDAD

ADVERTENCIA Lea todas las advertencias de seguridad y todas las

instrucciones.

Si no se siguen todas las advertencias e instrucciones se podran producir descargas elctricas, incendios, explosiones y/o lesiones graves o daos a la propiedad.

Evite los arranques accidentales. Asegrese de que el gatillo se encuentre en la posicin de apagado antes de insertar la batera, levantar o transportar la herramienta motorizada. Transportar el soplador con el dedo en el gatillo o insertar la batera con el gatillo activado aumenta la probabilidad de causar un arranque imprevisto y accidentes.

Retire la batera de la herramienta motorizada antes de realizar ajustes, cambiar los accesorios o guardar la mquina. Estas medidas preventivas de seguridad reducen el riesgo de arrancar la herramienta motorizada por accidente.

Recargue la batera nicamente con el cargador especificado por STIHL. Un cargador adecuado para un tipo de bateras puede crear un riesgo de incendios si se lo utiliza con un tipo de bateras diferente.

Utilice la herramienta motorizada nicamente con las bateras especficamente designadas para el mismo. El uso de bateras diferentes puede crear un riesgo de incendio o explosin y lesiones personales o daos a la propiedad.

Cuando no se utiliza la batera, mantngala alejada de objetos metlicos tales como presillas de papel, monedas, llaves, clavos, tornillos u otros objetos pequeos que pudieran formar una conexin entre los terminales de las bateras. No la almacene en un envase metlico. Un cortocircuito entre los terminales de batera puede causar quemaduras, un incendio o una explosin.

En condiciones de maltrato, se podra expulsar lquido de la batera; evite el contacto con esta. Si ocurre el contacto accidental, lave la zona con agua. Si el lquido entra en contacto con los ojos, acuda al mdico. Los lquidos expulsados de la batera pueden causar irritacin, quemaduras qumicas o malestares respiratorios debido a la inhalacin.

No utilice un paquete o una herramienta motorizada que presente daos o modificaciones. Las bateras con daos o modificaciones pueden tener un comportamiento impredecible que resulte en incendios, explosiones y riesgo de lesiones o daos a la propiedad.

No exponga la batera ni la herramienta motorizada al fuego ni a temperaturas excesivas. La exposicin al fuego o a temperaturas superiores a 100 C (212 F) puede causar un incendio o una explosin.

Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales o daos a la propiedad causados por un cortocircuito, un incendio o una explosin, mantenga la unidad seca. Nunca la sumerja en agua u otros lquidos, @ 9.

Siga todas las instrucciones de carga y no cargue la batera fuera del intervalo de temperaturas ambiente que se especifica. La carga indebida o efectuada fuera del intervalo especificado puede daar la batera y aumentar el riesgo de incendios.

El mantenimiento deber efectuarlo nicamente un tcnico calificado, utilizando piezas de repuesto autorizadas. Esto le ayudar a preservar la seguridad y el rendimiento del producto.

No modifique ni intente reparar la herramienta motorizada o la batera. Siga las instrucciones de uso y cuidado.

6.3 Advertencias e instrucciones generales sobre seguridad para las siguientes KombiTool de STIHL: Cortasetos de alcance extendido HL- KM, motoguadaa FH-KM y podador de varilla HT-KM

6.3.1 Introduccin Este captulo contiene las advertencias e instrucciones de seguridad generales prescritas para herramientas elctricas manuales motorizadas y cortasetos elctricos motorizados comprendidas en las normas UL 60745-1 y UL 60745-2-15. En los siguientes captulos de este manual, se proporcionan otras advertencias e instrucciones importantes.

6.3.2 Seguridad en la zona de trabajo

a)Mantenga la zona de trabajo limpia y bien iluminada. El desorden y la oscuridad favorecen los accidentes.

b)No utilice las herramientas motorizadas en entornos potencialmente explosivos, tales como aquellos en los que hay lquidos, gases o polvos inflamables. Las herramientas motorizadas producen chispas que podran encender el polvo o los vapores.

c) Asegrese de que nios y terceras personas se mantienen alejados de la herramienta motorizada mientras la est usando. Cualquier distraccin podra hacerle perder el control sobre la herramienta.

6.3.3 Seguridad elctrica

a)El enchufe de la herramienta motorizada debe corresponder con el tomacorriente. Nunca modifique el enchufe en modo alguno. No utilice enchufes adaptadores con herramientas motorizadas que tengan clavija de puesta a tierra. El uso de enchufes no modificados y de los tomacorrientes adecuados reduce el riesgo de descargas elctricas.

b)Evite que su cuerpo entre en contacto con superficies puestas a tierra tales como tuberas, radiadores, estufas y refrigeradores. Si su cuerpo est conectado con tierra, existe un mayor riesgo de que sufra descargas elctricas.

c) No exponga las herramientas motorizadas a la lluvia ni a la humedad. Si entra agua en la herramienta motorizada, aumenta el riesgo de que se produzcan descargas elctricas.

d)No maltrate el cordn elctrico. Nunca tire del cordn elctrico para transportar, arrastrar o desenchufar la herramienta motorizada. Mantenga el cordn protegido del calor y alejado de aceites, bordes afilados y piezas mviles. Si el cordn est daado o retorcido, aumenta el riesgo de que se produzcan descargas elctricas.

e)Cuando use una herramienta motorizada a la intemperie, utilice un cordn de extensin adecuado para el uso en exteriores. Con un cordn apto para el uso en exteriores se reduce el riesgo de descargas elctricas.

f) Si resulta ineludible el uso de una herramienta motorizada en un lugar hmedo, utilice un suministro de energa elctrica con dispositivo de corriente residual (RCD) o con proteccin contra prdidas a tierra (GFCI). El uso de un RCD o GFCI reduce el riesgo de descargas elctricas.

6.3.4 Seguridad personal

a)Mantngase alerta, preste atencin a lo que hace y aplique el sentido comn cuando use una herramienta motorizada. No utilice una herramienta motorizada si se nota cansado o si est bajo la influencia de drogas, alcohol o medicamentos. Un descuido breve durante el uso de una herramienta motorizada puede causar lesiones personales graves.

b)Utilice equipos de proteccin personal. Protjase los ojos siempre. El uso de equipos protectores como mascarillas, zapatos de seguridad antideslizantes, casco y protectores de los odos para lograr las condiciones de trabajo apropiadas reduce el riesgo de sufrir lesiones personales.

c) Evite los arranques accidentales. Asegrese de que el interruptor est en la posicin de apagado antes de conectar la mquina a la fuente de energa o a la batera, antes de levantarla y antes de cargarla. Cargar una herramientas motorizadas con un dedo colocado sobre el interruptor de encendido o conectar la alimentacin de herramientas que tienen el interruptor en la posicin de encendido favorece los accidentes.

d)Retire todas las llaves o herramientas de ajuste antes de encender la herramienta motorizada. Si se deja una herramienta o una llave colocada en un componente giratorio de la herramienta motorizada, se pueden producir lesiones personales.

g)Si cuenta con dispositivos para la conexin de equipos extractores y recogedores de polvo, asegrese de que estos estn conectados y de que se usan debidamente. El uso de un equipo recogedor de polvo puede reducir los peligros relacionados con el polvo.

h)No permita que la familiaridad adquirida con el uso frecuente de las herramientas lo lleve a actuar con un exceso de confianza y a no tener en cuenta los principios de seguridad de la herramienta. Una accin descuidada puede causar lesiones graves en una fraccin de un segundo.

6.3.5 Uso y cuidado de la herramienta motorizada

a)No fuerce la herramienta motorizada. Utilice la herramienta motorizada adecuada para el trabajo que va a realizar. Si usa la herramienta motorizada correcta, llevar a cabo la tarea mejor y con mayor seguridad, y al ritmo para el cual fue diseada.

b)No utilice la herramienta motorizada si no se puede encender y apagar con el interruptor. Toda herramienta motorizada que no pueda controlarse con su interruptor es peligrosa y debe ser reparada.

c) Desconecte el enchufe de la fuente de alimentacin o retire el paquete de bateras (si es desmontable), de la herramienta motorizada antes de hacer ajustes, cambiar

accesorios o almacenar la herramienta. Estas medidas preventivas de seguridad reducen el riesgo de arrancar la herramienta motorizada por accidente.

d)Guarde las herramientas motorizadas fuera del alcance de los nios, y no permita que utilicen las herramientas personas que no estn familiarizadas con ellas o con estas instrucciones. En manos de personas no capacitadas para usarlas, las herramientas motorizadas son peligrosas.

e)Mantenga debidamente las herramientas motorizadas y sus accesorios. Compruebe si los componentes mviles estn mal alineados o agarrotados, si hay roturas en alguna pieza y otros aspectos que pudieran afectar al funcionamiento de la herramienta elctrica. Si hay daos, enve la herramienta elctrica a reparacin antes de usarla. Muchos accidentes se deben a un mantenimiento deficiente de las herramientas motorizadas.

f) Mantenga las herramientas de corte afiladas y limpias. Si se han mantenido correctamente y estn afiladas, las herramientas de corte son menos propensas a atascarse y ms fciles de controlar.

g)Utilice la herramienta motorizada, los accesorios, las brocas, etc. tal como se indica en estas instrucciones, teniendo en cuenta las condiciones de trabajo y el tipo de tarea que va a realizar. El uso de una herramienta motorizada para trabajos diferentes a aquellos para los que fue diseada puede producir situaciones peligrosas.

h)Mantenga los mangos y las superficies de agarre secos, limpios y sin aceite ni grasa. Las superficies de agarre y los mangos resbaladizos dificultan la manipulacin y el control seguros de la herramienta en situaciones inesperadas.

6.3.6 Uso y cuidado de la herramienta con batera

a)Recrguela nicamente con el cargador especificado por el fabricante. Un cargador que es adecuado para un tipo de bateras puede crear un riesgo de incendio si se utiliza con bateras de un tipo diferente.

b)Utilice las herramientas motorizadas nicamente con las bateras especificadas para ellas. El uso de otras bateras puede crear riesgos de lesiones o incendio.

c) Cuando no utilice las bateras, mantngalas alejadas de objetos metlicos tales como presillas para papel, monedas, llaves, clavos, tornillos u otros objetos metlicos pequeos que pudieran establecer una conexin entre los distintos terminales. Un cortocircuito entre los terminales de batera puede causar quemaduras o un incendio.

d)En condiciones de maltrato, podra salir lquido de la batera; evite el contacto con el mismo. Si, a pesar de todo, el contacto se produce, lave la zona afectada con agua. Si el lquido entra en contacto con los ojos, busque adems atencin mdica. El lquido que sale de la batera puede causar irritaciones y quemaduras.

e)No utilice una batera ni una herramienta a batera que presente daos o haya sido modificada. Las bateras daadas o modificadas pueden tener un comportamiento impredecible y que puede provocar incendios, explosiones y lesiones.

f) No exponga nunca una batera ni una herramienta a batera al fuego ni a temperaturas excesivas. La exposicin al fuego o a temperaturas superiores a los 100 C puede causar una explosin.

g)Respete todas las instrucciones relativas a la carga y no cargue la batera ni la herramienta a batera a temperaturas no incluidas en el intervalo que se especifica en las instrucciones. Una carga incorrecta o realizada a temperaturas fuera del intervalo especificado puede daar la batera y aumentar el riesgo de incendios.

6.3.7 Mantenimiento

a)El mantenimiento de su herramienta motorizada deber realizarlo siempre un tcnico calificado, utilizando piezas de repuesto genuinas. Solo as queda garantizado que se mantendr intacta la seguridad de la herramienta motorizada.

b)Nunca intente reparar bateras daadas. Del mantenimiento de las bateras deben encargarse nicamente el fabricante o un proveedor de servicio autorizado.

6.3.8 Advertencias de seguridad del cortasetos

a)Mantenga todas las partes del cuerpo alejadas de la cuchilla. No quite el material cortado ni sujete el material que cortar cuando las cuchillas estn en marcha. Verifique que el interruptor est en posicin de apagado antes de despejar materiales atorados. Las cuchillas giran por cierto tiempo despus de haber apagado la mquina. Un descuido momentneo durante el uso de un cortasetos puede causar una lesin personal grave.

b)Transporte el cortasetos sujetndolo por el mango con la cuchilla detenida. El manejo adecuado del cortasetos reduce las probabilidades de sufrir lesiones personales causadas por las cuchillas.

c) Sujete la herramienta elctrica por los asideros aislados solamente, porque la cuchilla podra entrar en contacto con cables ocultos. Si la cuchilla entra en contacto con un cable con corriente, esto podra hacer que los componentes metlicos de la herramienta elctrica tengan corriente y darle una descarga elctrica al operador.

PELIGRO Mantenga las manos alejadas de la cuchilla. El contacto

con la cuchilla causar lesiones personales graves.

Utilice la herramienta motorizada nicamente de la manera descrita en este manual.

7.2 Operador

Segn los conocimientos actuales de STIHL, el motor elctrico de esta herramienta motorizada no debera interferir con un marcapasos.

Sin embargo, las personas con marcapasos u otro dispositivo mdico implantado deben consultar a su mdico y al fabricante del dispositivo antes de utilizar esta herramienta motorizada.

7.3 Equipos de proteccin personal

ADVERTENCIA Si el cabello, la ropa o la vestimenta entran en contacto

con el accesorios de corte/trabajo en movimiento o se enredan en los componentes de la herramienta motorizada, podra ocurrir la prdida del control y producirse lesiones cortantes graves. Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales graves:

Evite el uso de chaquetas sueltas, bufandas, corbatas, pantalones acampanados o con vueltas, joyas o cualquier otra vestimenta que pueda engancharse en las ramas, matorrales o el accesorio de corte/trabajo en movimiento.

Sujtese el cabello por encima de los hombros antes de empezar a trabajar.

Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones oculares:

Si existe el riesgo de lesionarse el rostro, STIHL recomienda usar tambin una careta o protector facial adecuado sobre las gafas o anteojos de seguridad.

Usar un casco aprobado si existe un riesgo de lesionarse la cabeza.

Es muy importante tener una buena superficie de apoyo para los pies. Para ayudar a mantener un punto de apoyo seguro y reducir el riesgo de lesiones mientras trabaja:

Los equipos de proteccin personal que se requieran dependen de la herramienta KombiTool especfica que se est utilizando.

Use ropa resistente y ajustada que permita una completa libertad de movimiento.

Use monos o pantalones largos hechos de un material grueso para protegerse las piernas. No use pantalones cortos.

Siempre utilice gafas o anteojos protectores bien ajustados con proteccin lateral resistentes a impactos y que porten designaciones que indiquen que cumplen con la norma ANSI Z87 +.

Pngase un calzado slido con suela antideslizante. Nunca use sandalias, ojotas, zapatos que dejen los dedos descubiertos ni calzado de ese tipo.

7.4 Herramienta motorizada

ADVERTENCIA Para reducir el riesgo de descarga elctrica:

No exponga la herramienta motorizada al agua o a la humedad excesiva.

Almacene la herramienta motorizada bajo techo.

Si la KombiTool o el accesorio de corte/trabajo en movimiento llega a tener contacto con su persona, causar laceraciones graves. Para reducir el riesgo de este tipo de lesiones:

Mantenga las manos, los pies y cualquier otra parte del cuerpo lejos de la KombiTool y de su accesorio de corte/trabajo.

No toque nunca con las manos ni con ninguna parte del cuerpo una KombiTool o accesorio de corte/trabajo en movimiento.

Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales al operador y a los espectadores:

Nunca deje la herramienta motorizada desatendida cuando est conectada a la batera.

Si bien es posible conectar ciertos accesorios no autorizados al KombiMotor, su uso puede ser extremadamente peligroso. Utilice nicamente los accesorios KombiTool suministrados por STIHL o expresamente autorizados por STIHL para usarse con este modelo especfico de mquina.

Use solo los accesorios suministrados o expresamente aprobados por STIHL.

Nunca modifique, de ninguna manera, este KombiMotor.

Nunca intente modificar ni anular los controles ni los dispositivos de seguridad del KombiMotor de ningn modo.

Los repuestos genuinos STIHL han sido diseados especficamente para su herramienta motorizada y satisfacen los requisitos de seguridad y de desempeo. El

manera descrita en este manual de instrucciones, y en el manual de la KombiTool.

La herramienta KombiTool deber estar correctamente instalada y ajustada antes de empezar a trabajar. Si no se utilizan las piezas correctas para montar la KombiTool y sus accesorios de corte/trabajo, se aumenta el riesgo de que el operador o terceros sufran lesiones personales.

Leer y seguir las instrucciones de montaje de la KombiTool y su accesorio de corte/trabajo dadas en el manual de instrucciones.

El uso de una herramienta motorizada que presenta modificaciones, daos, ajustes incorrectos o mantenimiento deficiente puede causar una avera y aumentar el riesgo de lesiones personales graves o de la muerte.

No maneje nunca una herramienta motorizada que est modificada, daada, mal ajustada o que no fue armada completa y debidamente.

Siempre compruebe que la mquina est en buenas condiciones y funcione debidamente antes de iniciar los trabajos, en particular el pestillo de retencin, el gatillo y su bloqueo.

Asegrese de que el pestillo de retencin, el bloqueo del gatillo y el gatillo se muevan libremente y siempre regresen a la posicin de parada al

Siempre sujete la herramienta motorizada firmemente con las dos manos cuando trabaje con ella.

Envuelva los dedos firmemente en los mangos, mantenindolos sujetos entre los dedos ndice y pulgar (vea la ilustracin).

Durante el funcionamiento, la mano derecha del operador debe sujetar el mango trasero y la mano izquierda debe sostener el mango delantero (vea la ilustracin). Esto aplica a todos los operadores, incluso a aquellos que sean zurdos.

Coloque la herramienta motorizada de manera tal que todos los miembros de su cuerpo estn alejados de la KombiTool y del accesorio de corte/trabajo cuando se enchufa el cordn de conexin.

Para reducir el riesgo de que el operador o los espectadores sufran lesiones graves o mortales casadas por la prdida de control, mantenga siempre un punto de apoyo seguro y el equilibro:

Asegrese de estar siempre en equilibrio y de tener los pies bien apoyados.

Tenga sumo cuidado cuando trabaje en terreno con mucha vegetacin o hmedo, y para evitar tropezarse o caerse, siempre est atento a los obstculos ocultos, tales como tocones, races, piedras, hoyos y zanjas.

Tenga sumo cuidado al trabajar sobre pendientes o suelo desnivelado, ya que la batera puede alterar su centro de gravedad.

Ajuste la posicin del mango trico y/o del arns hasta obtener y mantener una posicin de trabajo cmoda y eficaz, @ 13.2.

Para reducir el riesgo de lesionarse por tropezarse con el cable de conexin o por la prdida del control de la herramienta motorizada:

Ajuste las correas del arns de la batera de mochila de modo que la placa quede firme y cmoda contra su espalda. Nunca lleve la batera de mochila AR o la batera de mochila AP con sus correas sobre solo uno de sus hombros.

Si est utilizando la bolsa de batera AP con cordn de conexin, compruebe que est fijada de modo seguro al cinturn para batera STIHL, a la batera de mochila STIHL, o a otro cinturn de trabajo de soltado rpido.

Siempre coloque y asegure el cordn de conexin de modo que no interfiera con las tcnicas de trabajo adecuadas ni con su capacidad de controlar la herramienta motorizada. Asegure el cordn de conexin segn se indica en el manual de instrucciones de la batera AR, de la bolsa para batera AP con cordn de conexin, del cinturn para batera o de la batera de mochila STIHL.

Mantenga el cordn de conexin alejado de la KombiTool y de su accesorio de corte/trabajo.

Est atento a la posicin del cordn de conexin mientras trabaja. Evite que entre en contacto con la KombiTool o el accesorio de corte/trabajo o que se enganche en algn objeto, lo cual podra hacerle perder el equilibrio o el control y dar por resultado lesiones personales graves y daos a la propiedad.

Mantenga las manos, los pies y cualquier otra parte del cuerpo lejos de la KombiTool y de su accesorio de corte/trabajo.

No toque nunca con las manos ni con ninguna parte del cuerpo una KombiTool o accesorio de corte/trabajo en movimiento.

7.5.3 Condiciones de trabajo

condiciones de buena visibilidad y a la luz del da. Posponga los trabajos si el tiempo est ventoso, con

neblina, lluvioso o inclemente.

Su herramienta motorizada es una mquina que debe ser manejada por solamente una persona.

No se debe permitir la proximidad de otras personas, especialmente de nios, ni de animales en los lugares donde se est utilizando la mquina.

Apguela de inmediato si otra persona se le acerca.

Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones a los espectadores y usuarios no autorizados:

Nunca deje la mquina desatendida cuando est conectada a la batera.

Apague la mquina y desconecte el cordn de conexin antes de los perodos de descanso en el trabajo y toda vez que la herramienta no est en uso.

Las chispas generadas durante el funcionamiento de la herramienta motorizada pueden encender gases, lquidos, vapores, polvos u otros materiales y sustancias combustibles. Para reducir el riesgo de incendio y explosin:

No utilice la herramienta motorizada en un lugar donde haya gases, lquidos, vapores, polvos u otros materiales y sustancias combustibles.

Lea y atngase a las recomendaciones dadas por autoridades gubernamentales (por ejemplo, OSHA) para identificar y evitar los peligros que representan gases combustibles, lquidos, vapores, polvos y otros materiales y sustancias combustibles.

Si la cuchilla metlica en movimiento choca contra una roca u otro objeto macizo, se podran despedir chispas capaces de encender materiales inflamables en determinadas circunstancias. Entre los materiales

inflamables se incluyen la vegetacin y matorrales secos, en particular cuando el estado del tiempo es caliente y seco.

Si existe un riesgo de incendio leve o grave, no use cuchillas metlicas alrededor de materiales inflamables, ni para cortar vegetacin o matorrales secos.

Consulte con agencias gubernamentales tales como EPA, OSHA, CARB y NIOSH, al igual que otras fuentes fidedignas sobre materiales peligrosos si desconoce los riesgos asociados con las sustancias particulares que est cortando o con las cuales est trabajando.

La inhalacin de ciertos polvos, especialmente los polvos orgnicos, tales como el moho o polen, puede provocar reacciones alrgicas o asmticas en las personas sensibles. La inhalacin repetida o de grandes cantidades de polvo u otros contaminantes del aire, especialmente los de partculas pequeas, puede causar enfermedades respiratorias o de otro tipo.

Controle el polvo en su fuente, siempre que sea posible.

Hasta donde sea posible hacerlo, utilice la herramienta motorizada de modo que el viento o el proceso de trabajo dirija el polvo, roco u otras partculas generadas por la herramienta motorizada en sentido opuesto al operador.

Si no es posible mantener el polvo inhalable y otras partculas a niveles de fondo o aproximadamente de fondo, siempre utilice una mascarilla aprobada por NIOSH y con capacidad adecuada para las condiciones especficas del sitio. Espere a que el accesorio de corte/trabajo se detenga antes de caminar acarreando la mquina o de colocarla en el suelo.

El uso de herramientas KombiTool y accesorios de corte/trabajo no autorizados podra ser sumamente peligroso.

PELIGRO Para reducir el riesgo de electrocucin:

El uso de bateras no autorizadas puede causar daos en la herramienta motorizada y provocar incendios, explosiones, lesiones personales y daos materiales.

Utilice nicamente bateras de las gamas AR o AP de STIHL con esta herramienta motorizada.

La utilizacin de las bateras de las gamas AR o AP de STIHL con cualquier fin que no sea alimentar las herramientas motorizadas de STIHL podra ser extremadamente peligroso.

Use las bateras de las gamas AR y AP de STIHL solo para proporcionar alimentacin a herramientas motorizadas de STIHL compatibles.

El uso de cargadores no autorizados puede causar daos en la batera y provocar incendios, explosiones, lesiones personales y daos materiales.

Para cargar las bateras de la gama AP de STIHL, utilice siempre cargadores STIHL AL 101, AL 300 o AL 500 autnticos.

Para cargar las bateras de mochila de la gama AR de STIHL, utilice siempre cargadores AL 300 o AL 500 de STIHL autnticos.

La batera tiene funciones y dispositivos de seguridad que, de daarse, pueden provocar que la batera genere calor, se rompa, pierda lquido, se incendie o explote.

Nunca use ni cargue una batera que funcione incorrectamente, que est daada, agrietada, deformada o que pierda lquido.

Nunca abra, desmonte ni golpee la batera; no la deje caer ni la exponga a impactos fuertes o a daos de cualquier otro tipo.

Las temperaturas extremas pueden hacer que la batera genere calor, se rompa, pierda lquido, se incendie o explote, lo que podra causar lesiones personales graves o fatales y daos a la propiedad. La exposicin a temperaturas no incluidas en el rango recomendado puede contribuir adems a acortar la vida til de la batera y a empeorar su rendimiento.

Para reducir el riesgo de que se produzcan lesiones personales y daos materiales en caso de que la batera humee, emita un olor inusual o se caliente ms de lo habitual durante el uso, la carga o el almacenamiento:

Interrumpa el uso o la carga de la batera inmediatamente. Pngase en contacto con las autoridades en caso de incendio o explosin.

Para reducir el riesgo de que se produzca un cortocircuito, que podra causar, a su vez, una descarga elctrica, un incendio o una explosin: Nunca permita que la temperatura de la

batera supere los 212 F (100 C).

Nunca prenda fuego a la batera, ni la coloque sobre o junto a fuegos, estufas u otro tipo de objetos que alcances temperaturas muy altas.

Use y guarde la batera nicamente a una temperatura ambiente de entre 14 F y 122 F (-10 C y 50 C).

Nunca guarde la batera en un lugar expuesto a la luz solar directa ni dentro de un vehculo si la temperatura exterior es elevada.

Asegrese de mantener secas las bateras de mochila AR 900, 1000, 2000, 3000 de STIHL. Protjalas de la lluvia, del agua y de otros lquidos. Si llueve o el grado de humedad es muy elevado, cubra la batera AR 1000, 2000, 3000 de STIHL con la funda para lluvia antes de empezar a trabajar.

Nunca puentee los terminales de la batera con alambres ni con otros objetos metlicos.

Cuando no la est usando, mantenga la batera alejada de objetos metlicos (p. ej., presillas para papel, clavos, monedas, llaves).

Nunca transporte ni guarde la batera en un recipiente de metal.

Guarde la batera bajo techo, en un lugar seco.

Nunca guarde la batera en entornos hmedos o corrosivos, ni en condiciones que podran provocar corrosin en los componentes metlicos.

Proteja la batera de la exposicin a productos corrosivos, como las sustancias qumicas utilizadas en el jardn o las sales descongelantes.

Proteja la batera de la exposicin a lquidos conductores como el agua salada.

No intente reparar, abrir ni desmontar la batera. No contiene ninguna pieza que el usuario pueda reparar sin ayuda.

El lquido que contiene la batera, y que puede derramarse en determinadas circunstancias, es potencialmente nocivo y puede provocar irritaciones en los ojos y en la piel, quemaduras qumicas y otras lesiones graves.

Evite el contacto con la piel y con los ojos.

Para recoger el lquido de batera derramado, use un producto absorbente inerte, como la arena.

En caso de contacto accidental, limpie inmediatamente y a fondo la zona afectada con un jabn suave y agua.

Si le entra lquido de batera en los ojos: no se los frote. Aclrese los ojos con agua corriente durante al menos 15 minutos y acuda al servicio mdico ms cercano.

Si la batera se prende fuego, puede resultar peligrosa. Para reducir el riesgo de que se produzcan lesiones personales graves y daos materiales, en caso de incendio:

Evacue la zona. El fuego se puede extender rpidamente. Mantngase lejos de cualquier vapor que se genere y respete una distancia de seguridad suficiente.

Avise a los bomberos.

Aunque se puede usar agua para apagar un incendio de batera, es preferible utilizar un extintor de incendios de polvo qumico multiuso.

El cuerpo de bomberos le informar sobre la forma adecuada de deshacerse de una batera incendiada.

10.1 Preparacin del KombiMotor para el funcionamiento

Antes de empezar a trabajar:

Cargue la batera completamente. @ 11. Montaje del mango trico y la barra de defensa, @ 13.1. Monte una herramienta KombiTool de STIHL aprobada de

la manera descrita en este manual de instrucciones. Coloque y ajuste la batera AR, el cinturn para batera o

la batera de mochila STIHL, @ 14. Ajuste el mango trico. @ 13.2. Compruebe el buen funcionamiento y condicin de los

controles, @ 17.1.

Si una batera de la gama AP o AR L de STIHL ha estado expuesta a la lluvia durante el trabajo, squela de la herramienta y djela secar bajo techo. Asegrese de que est completamente seca antes de cargarla o de usarla.

Nunca sumerja en agua ni en ningn otro lquido una batera de STIHL.

11.1 Preparacin del cargador para el funcionamiento

ADVERTENCIA Lea y atngase a las precauciones de seguridad dadas en la batera y en el cargador y todas las advertencias e instrucciones que acompaan a dichos productos. Para reducir el riesgo de cortocircuito, que podra provocar una descarga elctrica, un incendio y una explosin, asegrese de que el cargador y sus componentes estn secos y no estn daados; opere el cargador puertas adentro a la temperatura ambiente adecuada.

ADVERTENCIA Un circuito elctrico domstico tpico suministra entre 15 y 20 amperios. Un cargador STIHL AL 500 consume aproximadamente 4,8 A. Un cargador AL 300 consume aproximadamente 4,4 A. Para reducir el riesgo de incendios causados por la sobrecarga de un circuito elctrico: Compruebe que el circuito elctrico tenga capacidad

suficiente para suministrar el consumo elctrico anticipado antes de cargar la batera.

Cargue varias bateras una por una, o en circuitos separados, a menos que se sepa que el circuito es capaz de soportar el consumo total anticipado de varios cargadores.

ADVERTENCIA Dado que el cargador se calienta durante el proceso de carga, no haga funcionar el cargador sobre superficies que puedan incendiarse o en un lugar donde haya gases, lquidos, vapores, polvo u otros materiales y sustancias combustibles.

Para preparar el cargador para el funcionamiento:

El cargador ejecutar una autoprueba inmediatamente despus de enchufarlo. El LED del cargador (1) se iluminar en verde durante 1 segundo aproximadamente, y luego en rojo por un lapso breve hasta apagarse. Una vez que el LED se apaga, la autoprueba ha finalizado y el cargador est listo para cargar la batera.

Ubique el cordn elctrico (2) como para que no se lo pise, cause tropiezos, est en contacto con objetos cortantes o partes mviles o, de otro modo sujeto, a dao o esfuerzo.

11.2 Carga

ADVERTENCIA Las bateras STIHL tienen caractersticas y dispositivos de seguridad que, de daarse, pueden provocar que la batera genere calor, se rompa, pierda lquido, se incendie o explote. Nunca cargue una batera que funcione mal o que est daada, deformada o tenga fugas, ni utilice un cargador averiado. Nunca inserte una batera hmeda ni un adaptador de batera que est mojado. La batera no se suministra completamente cargada de fbrica. STIHL le recomienda que cargue la batera por completo antes de usarla por primera vez.

Utilice el cargador siempre bajo techo, en habitaciones secas y a temperaturas ambiente de entre 41 F y 104 F (5 C y 40 C).

La batera se calienta durante el funcionamiento de la herramienta motorizada. Si se conecta al cargador una batera caliente, puede ser necesario esperar a que se enfre para que empiece a cargarse. El proceso de carga solo comienza una vez que la batera se ha enfriado lo suficiente.

Para cargar una batera AR:

Cargue las bateras tipo mochila AR de STIHL nicamente con cargadores de las gamas AL 300 o AL 500 de STIHL autnticos.

Para cargar una batera AP:

Inserte la batera (2) en el cargador (3) hasta que haga tope. El LED del cargador se ilumina en verde cuando la batera se est cargando.

Los LED (1) de la batera AP se iluminan en verde e indican el estado de la carga.

12.1 Batera de mochila STIHL AR 12.1.1 Estado de la batera Seis LED y una seal acstica denotan el estado de la batera.

1 Un pitido breve La seal acstica funciona como debe hacerlo.

2 Cuatro o seis tonos largos (AR L) La batera tiene poca carga. Recargue la batera.

Estos LED pueden encenderse o destellar en verde o rojo.

Sea consciente de que su capacidad para or la seal acstica puede verse disminuida si usa protectores para odos.

12.1.2 Estado de la herramienta motorizada

Cuando la batera est conectada con la herramienta motorizada, los mismos LED en la batera indicarn el estado de la herramienta motorizada.

Si tres LED se encienden en rojo continuamente, el motor de la herramienta motorizada est demasiado caliente. Deje que el motor se enfre.

Coloque las tuercas cuadradas (2) en la barra de defensa (1) y alinee los agujeros.

Coloque una abrazadera (5) en el mango trico (3). Coloque la otra abrazadera (7) contra la parte inferior del

tubo de mando y alinee los agujeros en el mango trico y los tornillos de fijacin.

Coloque la barra de defensa (4) en su posicin sobre los orificios del mango trico.

Inserte los tornillos (8) y apritelos bien. Asegrese de que la barra de defensa est bien ajustada y que no se mueva durante el funcionamiento.

13.2 Ajuste del mango trico El mango trico se puede ajustar en distintas posiciones para adaptarlo a la altura y el alcance del operador.

Para ajustar la posicin del mango trico:

Apague la herramienta motorizada, @ 16.2. Retire el cordn de conexin, @ 15.2.

Afloje los tornillos (2) y conecte el mango trico al eje de la motoguadaa.

Deslice el mango trico (1) hasta la posicin deseada sujeto a las siguientes limitaciones: Mantenga el espaciador (3) posicionado entre el mango

trico y la argolla de transporte. Si est trabajando con una KombiTool FS-KM provista

de una cabeza de corte, la distancia marcada con una "a" debe medir menos de 30 cm (11,8 pulg).

Si est trabajando con una KombiTool FS-KM provista de un accesorio de corte metlico, la distancia marcada con una "a" debe medir menos de 25 cm (9,8 pulg).

Apriete los tornillos hasta que el mango trico est bien asegurado y ya no se pueda mover en el tubo de mando.

14.1 Batera de mochila STIHL AR 14.1.1 Colocacin y ajuste del cordn de conexin

El cordn de conexin puede pasarse por la gua en la correa para el hombro (ilustracin A) o a lo largo de la placa trasera (ilustracin B). Asegure el cordn de conexin al bastidor de la mochila y con los cierres de velcro (1). Siempre asegure el cordn de conexin utilizando la gua o cierres de velcro hacia el mismo lado del cuerpo en el cual se sujeta y se controla la herramienta motorizada. No permita que el cordn de conexin penda delante de su cuerpo ni a su costado.

La longitud del cordn de conexin puede ajustarse por medio de formar un lazo por la parte superior (Ilust. C) o por el costado (Ilust. D) de la batera tipo mochila, fijndolo con cierres de velcro.

14.1.2 Colocacin del arns

ADVERTENCIA Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales en caso de una emergencia, el operador deber poder quitarse la batera de mochila rpidamente. En caso de emergencia, desabroche y qutese el cinturn y la tira de pecho rpidamente, antes de dejar caer la batera al suelo.

Abroche la tira para el pecho (1) y ajstela de modo que quede cmoda pero segura por su pecho.

Ajuste las tiras del arns de modo que la almohadilla de la placa quede firme y segura contra su espalda.

Pase el extremo del cinturn por dentro del lazo (3). Para quitarse el arns, desabroche las hebillas de soltado

rpido del cinturn y de la tira para el pecho y afloje las tiras del arns por medio de levantar los ajustadores deslizantes.

Para ayudar a reducir el riesgo de lesionarse en caso de emergencia, practique la apertura rpida del sujetador del cinturn y de la correa de pecho, el soltado de las correas de hombro y despojarse de la batera.

INDICACIN

Para evitar daos, coloque la batera suavemente en el suelo cuando est practicando. No permita que la batera caiga al suelo ni la lance.

14.2 Batera de mochila STIHL 14.2.1 Montaje de la bolsa de bateras AP con su cordn de

Cierre los retenes para asegurar el cordn en la gua.

Para tender el cordn de conexin a un costado:

Inserte el cordn de conexin (1) a travs de la abertura (2) en el lado de su cuerpo donde se sujetar y se controlar la herramienta motorizada (ilustracin A o B).

Asegure el cordn de conexin usando el cierre de velcro (3).

14.2.3 Colocacin y ajuste de la batera de mochila

ADVERTENCIA El operador deber poder despojarse de la batera de mochila rpidamente en caso de emergencia. Para reducir el riesgo de lesionarse en una emergencia, soltarse el cinturn y la correa de pecho rpidamente antes de dejar caer la batera de mochila al suelo.

Para colocar y ajustar el arns simple:

Apague la herramienta motorizada, @ 16.2. Retire el cordn de conexin, @ 15.2. Colquese el cinturn para batera y la bolsa de batera

AP de STIHL con cordn de conexin. Coloque el arns de la herramienta motorizada sobre su

hombro.

Ajuste el largo de la correa del arns (1) de modo que el mosquetn (2) quede aproximadamente el ancho de la mano por debajo de la parte superior de la cadera.

Fije el mosquetn a la argolla de acarreo (3) en la herramienta motorizada.

14.4 Colocacin de la almohadilla para cadera en el arns para batera AR o la mochila de batera

La almohadilla para cadera sirve para convertir la batera de mochila en un arns para la herramienta motorizada. Cuando se trabaja con una batera tipo mochila AR o una batera AP en una mochila, es necesario usar la almohadilla para cadera, por ejemplo, cuando se usa una KombiTool FS-KM montada con un accesorio de corte metlico.

La almohadilla para cadera debe montarse en el lado derecho del operador.

Empuje el enchufe dentro del tomacorriente con una presin firme y uniforme hasta insertarlo por completo.

15.2 Retiro del cordn de conexin

ADVERTENCIA Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales graves debido a la activacin accidental, siempre desconecte el cordn de conexin antes de armar, transportar, ajustar, limpiar, darle mantenimiento o guardar la herramienta motorizada. Desconecte el cordn de conexin en caso de una avera o una emergencia y siempre que la herramienta motorizada no est en uso.

ADVERTENCIA Para reducir los riesgos de descarga elctrica y otras lesiones personales causadas por la prdida de control, apague siempre la herramienta motorizada antes de quitar el cordn de conexin del tomacorriente.

Para retirar el cordn de conexin:

Suelte el gatillo de aceleracin. Extraiga el enchufe del receptculo de la herramienta

motorizada con una presin constante y uniforme.

INDICACIN Evite exponer la batera a calor o fro excesivo, o a perodos prolongados de luz directa. El uso o el almacenamiento fuera del rango de temperatura ambiente recomendado pueden reducir el rendimiento o la vida til de la batera.

16.1 Encendido

ADVERTENCIA Para reducir el riesgo de que el operador o los espectadores sufran lesiones graves o mortales, mantenga las manos, los pies y cualquier otra parte del cuerpo alejados del accesorio de corte/trabajo, @ 7.5.2. Para el encendido:

Desbloquee el pestillo de retencin (1) por medio de empujarlo hacia delante con su dedo pulgar. Mantngalo en esta posicin de desbloqueo.

Mantenga presionado el desbloqueo del gatillo (2). El pestillo de retencin ahora se puede soltar y se mantendr en la posicin de desbloqueo.

Oprima el gatillo (3) con el dedo ndice. La herramienta motorizada y el accesorio de corte/trabajo estar activada.

El motor no se pondr en marcha a menos que el pestillo de retencin est desbloqueado y el bloqueo del gatillo y el gatillo se opriman al mismo tiempo.

16.2 Apagado

18.1 Seleccin del nivel de potencia La mquina puede usarse con tres niveles diferentes de potencia, los cuales se indican por medio de luces LED ubicadas en el mango de control. Cuanto ms alto el nivel de potencia, ms rpido gira el accesorio de corte/trabajo.

Para ajustar el nivel de potencia:

Presione el pestillo de retencin (1) hacia adelante con el pulgar. Los LED indicarn el nivel de potencia.

Presione el pestillo de retencin hacia adelante durante aproximadamente 1 segundo para activar el nivel de potencia siguiente. Si se efecta esta operacin cuando ya se ha seleccionado el nivel de potencia ms alto, la mquina retorna al primer nivel de potencia.

En general, la duracin de la batera se acorta cuando se trabaja de modo continuo con el nivel ms alto de potencia.

Mantenga el receptculo libre de materias extraas y lmpielo segn sea necesario con cepillo suave o un pao suave y seco.

INDICACIN Nunca roce agua sobre el KombiMotor. Rociarlo con un chorro de agua podra daar sus sistemas electrnicos y de otros tipos.

22.2 Limpie las superficies de contacto del cable de conexin

STIHL Incorporated debe garantizar el sistema de control de emisiones en el motor pequeo con emisiones nulas para uso fuera de carretera por los intervalos mencionados ms adelante, siempre que dicho motor o equipo no haya estado sujeto a maltrato, negligencia o cuidado inapropiado que causara la falla del sistema de control de emisiones.

El sistema de control de emisiones puede contar con componentes tales como un motor con emisiones nulas, una unidad de control del motor, una batera y un cargador de bateras.

En los casos de existir una condicin amparada bajo garanta, STIHL Incorporated reparar el motor pequeo con emisiones nulas para equipo de uso fuera de carretera sin costo alguno, incluido el diagnstico, las piezas y la mano de obra.

RESPONSABILIDADES DEL FABRICANTE RELATIVAS A LA GARANTA

El sistema de control de emisiones del motor pequeo con emisiones nulas de su equipo para uso fuera de carretera tiene una garanta de dos aos. En el caso de encontrarse defectos en cualquiera de los componentes del motor pequeo con emisiones nulas para uso fuera de carretera relacionados con el sistema de control de emisiones, el mismo ser reparado o sustituido por STIHL Incorporated sin costo alguno.

RESPONSABILIDADES DEL PROPIETARIO RELATIVAS A LA GARANTA

Como propietario de motor pequeo con emisiones nulas para equipo de uso fuera de carretera, usted tiene la responsabilidad de realizar el mantenimiento requerido

descrito en su manual de instrucciones. STIHL Incorporated le recomienda guardar todos los recibos comprobantes de los trabajos de mantenimiento hechos a su Motor pequeo con emisiones nulas para equipo de uso fuera de carretera, pero STIHL Incorporated no puede negar garanta basado en el solo hecho de faltar los recibos o del incumplimiento del propietario de realizar todos los trabajos de mantenimiento programados.

Sin embargo, como propietario del motor pequeo con emisiones nulas para equipo de uso fuera de carretera usted debe ser consciente de que STIHL Incorporated puede negarle cobertura de garanta si dicho motor o un componente del mismo ha fallado debido a maltrato, descuido, mantenimiento inadecuado o modificaciones no autorizadas.

Usted es responsable de llevar el motor pequeo con emisiones nulas para equipo de uso fuera de carretera a un concesionario de servicio STIHL tan pronto surja el problema. Las reparaciones bajo garanta deben realizarse en un tiempo razonable, sin exceder de 30 das.

COBERTURA POR STIHL INCORPORATED

STIHL Incorporated garantiza al ltimo comprador y a cada comprador subsiguiente que el motor pequeo con emisiones nulas para equipo de uso fuera de carretera est diseado, construido y equipado, al tiempo de la venta, de conformidad con todos los reglamentos acerca de emisiones aplicables.

Adems, STIHL Incorporated garantiza al comprador inicial y a cada comprador subsiguiente que el motor con emisiones nulas est libre de defectos en el material y

fabricacin que puedan causar el incumplimiento de los reglamentos acerca de emisiones aplicables durante un perodo de dos aos.

PERODO DE GARANTA CONTRA DEFECTOS

El perodo de garanta comenzar el da en que el motor con emisiones nulas de equipo utilitario es comprado por el comprador inicial. Si cualquier componente relacionado con el sistema de control de emisiones nulas est defectuoso, el mismo ser sustituido por STIHL Incorporated sin costo alguno para el propietario.

No se permite usar componentes adicionales o modificados que no hayan sido eximidos por el Consejo de Recursos del Aire (CARB). El uso de cualquier componente adicional o modificado no eximido ser motivo para la denegacin del reclamo bajo garanta. STIHL Incorporated no es responsable por las fallas de los componentes garantizados causadas por el uso de un componente adicional o modificado no eximido.

La garanta de los componentes relacionados con el control de emisiones se interpretar de la manera siguiente:

1)Cualquier componente garantizado cuyo reemplazo no est programado como mantenimiento requerido en las instrucciones escritas requeridas en la Lista de Piezas bajo la Garanta de Control de Emisiones (vea ms abajo) debe garantizarse por el perodo de garanta definido en la subseccin COBERTURA POR STIHL INCORPORATED, vea ms arriba. Si uno de estos componentes falla durante el perodo de garanta, el fabricante debe reparar o sustituir el mismo de acuerdo con la subseccin (4) ms abajo. Un componente reparado o sustituido bajo la garanta debe garantizarse durante el resto del perodo de garanta.

2)Cualquier componente garantizado que solamente debe inspeccionarse peridicamente de acuerdo con las instrucciones escritas requeridas en la Lista de Piezas bajo la Garanta de Control de Emisiones (vea ms abajo) debe garantizarse por el perodo de garanta definido en la subseccin COBERTURA POR STIHL INCORPORATED, vea ms arriba. Una declaracin en las instrucciones escritas tal como "reparar o sustituir segn sea necesario" no acortar el perodo de cobertura

de garanta. Un componente de este tipo reparado o sustituido bajo la garanta debe garantizarse durante el resto del perodo de garanta.

3)Cualquier componente garantizado que debe sustituirse como un elemento de mantenimiento requerido en las instrucciones escritas requeridas por la lista de piezas bajo la garanta de control de emisiones (vea ms abajo) debe garantizarse por el intervalo antes del primer punto de sustitucin programado para este componente. Si el componente falla antes del primer punto de sustitucin programado, el fabricante del motor con emisiones nulas debe reparar o sustituir el mismo de acuerdo con la subseccin (4) ms abajo. Un componente de este tipo reparado o sustituido bajo la garanta debe garantizarse durante el resto del perodo de garanta antes del primer punto de sustitucin programado para el componente.

4)La reparacin o sustitucin de cualquier componente garantizado debe llevarse a cabo en una estacin de reparaciones bajo garanta sin costo alguno para el propietario.

5)No obstante lo expuesto en la subseccin (4) de arriba, los servicios o las reparaciones bajo garanta pueden obtenerse en todos los centros de distribucin del fabricante autorizados para dar servicio a los motores con emisiones nulas en cuestin.

6)Al propietario no se le debe cobrar el trabajo del diagnstico que establece que el componente garantizado es de hecho defectuoso, a condicin de que tal trabajo de diagnstico se realice en una estacin de reparaciones bajo garanta.

TRABAJO BAJO GARANTA

STIHL Incorporated reparar los defectos amparados por la garanta en cualquier estacin de garanta o centro de servicio autorizado por STIHL. Todo trabajo de este tipo se har gratis para el propietario siempre que se determine que la pieza cubierta por la garanta est defectuosa. Se puede usar cualquier pieza de repuesto aprobada por el fabricante o equivalente para el mantenimiento o la reparacin de los componentes relacionados con el sistema de control de emisiones, y la misma debe ser suministrada gratis al propietario. LIMITACIONES

La reparacin o la sustitucin de cualquier componente garantizado y normalmente abarcado por la garanta se puede excluir de la garanta si STIHL Incorporated demuestra el maltrato, negligencia o mantenimiento incorrecto del producto de STIHL, y que tal maltrato, negligencia, o mantenimiento incorrecto era la causa directa de la necesidad de reparacin o sustitucin del componente. A pesar de lo anterior, el ajuste de un componente que tiene un dispositivo limitador instalado en fbrica y funcionando correctamente no perjudicar la cobertura bajo garanta.
