To reduce the risk of injury, follow the specified safety precautions.
Read and follow all safety precautions in this instruction manual and the manual for the STIHL tool powered by this battery. Improper use can lead to serious or fatal personal injury or property damage.
To reduce the risk of personal injury or property damage from fire, explosion or burns, including chemical burns, do not disassemble, crush, drop, damage or heat the battery above 212 F (100 C). Never expose it to fire or incinerate, @ 5.1.
To reduce the risk of personal injury or property damage from a short circuit, fire or explosion, keep the battery dry. Protect it from rain, water, liquids and damp conditions. Never immerse the battery in water or other liquids, @ 5.1.
To reduce the risk of personal injury or property damage from fire, use and store the battery only within an ambient temperature range of 14 F to 122 F (- 10 C to 50 C), @ 5.1.

5.1 Battery Warnings and Instructions
WARNING Use of STIHL AR batteries for any purpose other than
powering the STIHL tools listed below could lead to personal injury and property damage. Use only with the following STIHL power tools: STIHL MSA chain saws (see important exceptions
below)
STIHL HTA pole pruners
STIHL FSA trimmers and brush cutters
STIHL HSA hedge trimmers
STIHL HLA extended reach hedge trimmers
STIHL BGA blowers
Do not use STIHL AR batteries with STIHL TSA cut-off machines or STIHL RMA lawn mowers. Use with these products could lead to severe personal injury and property damage from entanglement of the connecting cord, loss of control, or loss of balance.
Do not use STIHL AR batteries with STIHL MSA top-handle chain saws while climbing in a tree for in-tree surgery and maintenance. Use could lead to severe personal injury and property damage from entanglement of the connecting cord, loss of control, or loss of balance. Always use a lift bucket for in-tree surgery and maintenance if using an AR battery with a MSA top-handle chain saw. Do not climb in the tree with an AR battery.
Use of unauthorized chargers can damage the battery and result in fire, explosion and personal injury and property damage.
Charge STIHL AR batteries only with genuine STIHL AL 300 or STIHL AL 500 series chargers.
The battery contains safety features and devices which, if damaged, may allow the battery to generate heat, rupture, leak, ignite or explode.
Never use or charge a malfunctioning, damaged, cracked, leaking or deformed battery.
Never open, disassemble, crush, drop, subject to heavy impact or otherwise damage the battery.
Never expose the battery to microwaves or high pressures.
Never insert objects into the battery's cooling slots.
Never sit or stand on the battery. Never place objects on the battery or stack batteries on top of one another.
High temperatures may cause the battery to generate heat, rupture, leak, ignite or explode, resulting in severe or fatal personal injury and property damage. Exposure to temperatures outside the recommended temperature range may also reduce battery life and performance.
5 IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Never heat the battery above 212 F (100 C).
Never incinerate or place the battery on or near fires, stoves or other high- temperature locations.
Use and store the battery only within an ambient temperature range of 14 F to 122 F (-10 C to 50 C).
Never store the battery in direct sunlight or inside a vehicle in hot weather.

To reduce the risk of personal injury and property damage in the event the battery emits smoke, an unusual smell or feels unusually hot while using, charging or storing:
Immediately discontinue using or charging the battery. If you are using it, remove it from your back. Maintain a safe distance and prepare to contact the authorities in the event of fire or explosion.
To reduce the risk of a short circuit, which could lead to electric shock, fire and explosion:
Keep a battery that is not in use away from metal objects (e.g., paper clips, nails, coins, keys).
Never transport or store the battery in a metal container.
Store the battery indoors in a dry room.
Never store the battery in damp or corrosive environments or in conditions that could lead to corrosion of its metal components.
Never store the battery connected to the power tool or charger.
Protect the battery from exposure to corrosive agents such as garden chemicals and de-icing salts.
Protect the battery from exposure to conductive liquids such as salt water.
Do not attempt to repair, open or disassemble the battery. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
Leaking battery fluid is potentially harmful and can cause skin and eye irritation, chemical burns and other serious personal injury.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Use an inert absorbent such as sand on spilled battery fluid.
In the event of accidental contact, immediately rinse the contact area thoroughly with mild soap and water.
If fluid gets into your eye(s): Do not rub. Rinse water over the open eye(s) for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.
A battery fire can be dangerous. To reduce the risk of severe personal injury and property damage in the event of fire:
Evacuate the area. Fire can spread rapidly. Stay clear of any vapors generated and maintain a safe distance.
Contact the fire department.
Although water can be used to put out a battery fire, use of a multi-purpose dry chemical fire extinguisher is preferable.
Consult the fire department regarding proper disposal of the burned battery.
5.2 Operator
WARNING Operating a power tool with the backpack battery can be
strenuous. The operator must be in good physical condition and mental health. To reduce the risk of personal injury from fatigue and loss of control:
Check with your doctor before using the backpack battery if you have any health condition that may be aggravated by strenuous work.
Do not use the backpack battery while under the influence of any substance (drug, alcohol or medication, etc.) that might impair vision, balance, dexterity or judgment.
Be alert. Do not use the backpack battery when you are tired. Take a break if you become tired.
Do not permit minors to use the backpack battery.
The battery is designed to be operated by one person only. Do not allow other persons in the work area.
Keep the battery dry. Protect it from rain, water and other liquids.
Never immerse the battery in water or other liquids.

5.3 Connecting Cord
WARNING Using a damaged connecting cord may result in fire,
electric shock and other personal injury or property damage. To reduce these risks:
Check the batterys connecting cord regularly for damage. If it becomes damaged, immediately disconnect it from the power tool and battery. Never use a damaged connecting cord.
Do not abrade, crush, jerk, or otherwise abuse or misuse the connecting cord. Protect it from heat, oil and sharp edges.
If the connecting cord becomes damaged, have it replaced by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer before use. A damaged connecting cord must be replaced with an identical STIHL replacement part.
Unplug the backpack battery from the power tool when not in use.
Never yank or jerk the connecting cord to disconnect. To unplug the connecting cord from the backpack battery, grasp the battery-side plug, not the connecting cord.
Make sure the connecting cord is positioned and secured so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, come in contact with sharp objects, moving parts, or otherwise be subjected to damage or stress.
Check the AP Adapter, the connecting cord and its plugs for signs of damage. Never use a damaged AP Adapter, connecting cord or plug.
Make sure the insulation of the connecting cord and plugs are in good condition.
Straighten a twisted connecting cord before use.
Position the connecting cord so that it cannot be reached or damaged by the cutting or working attachment of the power tool being used.
Do not use the connecting cord for any purpose other than providing an electrical connection between the battery and your authorized STIHL power tool. For example, do not use it for carrying or hanging up the battery or power tool.
The two ends of the connecting cord are different shapes and use different electrical contacts. The battery-side plug is designed to be inserted into the backpack battery socket. The plug on the other end is to be inserted into an AP Adapter or STIHL power tool with an integrated socket. To reduce the risk of electric shock and damage to the battery and connecting cord:
Never attempt to insert the wrong end of the connecting cord in the battery socket, AP Adapter or power tool (see illustration).
5.4 Using the Backpack Battery
WARNING Misuse may result in personal injury and property
damage. Use the battery only as described in this instruction
manual.
Never modify the backpack battery in any way.
Use only accessories specifically authorized by STIHL for use with this backpack battery.
Use the battery only with the harness supplied. It must not be combined with any other carrying straps.

To help reduce the risk of serious personal injury or death from unintentional activation of a power tool connected to the battery:
Never leave the battery unattended when it is plugged in to a power tool.
Disconnect the battery from the power tool and charger before storing.
To reduce the risk of serious personal injury from loss of control during operation:
Read and follow all safety precautions and instructions related to the power tool connected to the battery.
Make sure you have good balance and secure footing at all times. Take special care in slippery conditions (wet ground, snow) and in overgrown terrain.
Watch for hidden obstacles such as tree stumps, roots, rocks, holes and ditches to avoid stumbling or falling.
Be extremely cautious when working on slopes or uneven ground, as the backpack battery may alter your center of balance.
Never work with the backpack battery in trees, on roofs or on ladders or any other insecure support.
Do not overreach.
To reduce the risk of injury from tripping on the connecting cord or losing control of the power tool:
Always position and secure the connecting cord so that it will not interfere with your power tool or proper working technique. Secure the connecting cord
through the backpack guides and with the hook and eye fasteners. Keep the connecting cord away from the cutting attachment of the power tool.
Remain aware of the location of the connecting cord while working. Prevent it from contacting the power tool's cutting attachment or catching on other objects, which could cause you to lose balance or control of the power tool, resulting in serious personal injury and property damage.
Using a backpack battery that is damaged or improperly adjusted can lead to a malfunction and increase the risk of serious personal injury and property damage. Before starting work or charging the battery:
Always check the battery for proper condition and operation.
Check the battery, connecting cord, sockets, plugs and AP Adapter for corrosion, foreign matter and damage.
If four LEDs flash red and a rapid succession of short beeps sound for several seconds, the battery is not functioning properly. Disconnect the battery from the power tool, take it off your back and contact your authorized STIHL servicing dealer immediately. Do not attempt to use, charge or store the battery until the problem has been corrected.
Never attempt to use, charge or store a malfunctioning, damaged, cracked, leaking or deformed battery. Take it to your authorized STIHL servicing dealer immediately. Do not use, charge or store the battery until the problem has been corrected.
Make sure the shoulder straps and other features of the backpack are in good condition, properly adjusted and secure. If they are worn, weakened, cracked or damaged, contact your authorized STIHL servicing dealer and have them replaced.
Unplug the battery from the power tool before assembling, transporting, adjusting, inspecting, cleaning, servicing, maintaining or storing the tool. Unplug the battery in the event of a malfunction or emergency and any time the tool is not in use.

English 6 Maintenance, Repair and Storage
6.1 Warnings and Instructions
WARNING There are no user-authorized repairs for the backpack
battery. To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or other personal injury and property damage:
Do not attempt to repair, open or disassemble the battery. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
Users may carry out only the cleaning and maintenance operations described in this manual. Users must not attempt any other cleaning, maintenance or repair.
Strictly follow the cleaning and maintenance instructions in the appropriate sections of this instruction manual.
STIHL recommends that all repair work be performed by authorized STIHL servicing dealers.
Unintentional starting may result in personal injury or property damage. To reduce the risk of personal injury and property damage from unintentional starting, disconnect the battery from the power tool: when inspecting, adjusting or cleaning the battery or
power tool
before handling the power tool's cutting or working attachment
before leaving the battery or power tool unattended
before transporting or storing the battery
in the event of a malfunction or in an emergency.
any time the battery is not in use.
Use of parts that are not authorized or approved by STIHL may cause serious or fatal injury or property damage.
STIHL recommends that only identical STIHL replacement parts be used for repair or maintenance.
To reduce the risk of electric shock when charging: Unplug the charger from the electrical outlet before

Regularly check the electrical contacts of the charger and ensure that the insulation of the power cord and plug are in good condition and show no signs of aging (brittleness), wear or damage.
Have a damaged power supply cord replaced by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer.
To reduce the risk of short circuit and fire: Keep the guides on the AP Adapter free of foreign
matter. Clean as necessary with a dry cloth or soft, dry brush.
Improper storage can result in unauthorized use, damage to the backpack battery and an increased risk of fire, electric shock and other personal injury or property damage. Before storing:
Remove the connecting cord from the power tool or AP Adapter.
Remove the AP Adapter from the power tool or charger.
Store the battery indoors in a dry, secure place that cannot be accessed by children or other unauthorized users.
Never store the battery in damp or corrosive environments or in conditions that could lead to the corrosion of its metal components.
Never store the battery plugged into the AP Adapter or power tool.
Never store the battery in a metal container or in a container with metal objects (e.g., paper clips, nails, coins, keys).
6 Maintenance, Repair and Storage

7.1 Preparing the Backpack Battery for Operation
Before starting work:
Check the battery status, @ 9.1. Fully charge the battery, @ 8.2. Clean the battery, @ 17.1. Clean the contact surfaces on the connecting cord, @ 17.2.
Position the connecting cord, @ 11.1.
8.1 Setting up the Charger
WARNING Read and follow the safety precautions on the battery and charger and the warnings and instructions in this manual, @ 5.1, and in the charger's manual. To reduce the risk of short circuit, which could lead to electric shock, fire and explosion, make sure the charger and its components are dry and not damaged; operate the charger indoors at an appropriate ambient temperature.
WARNING A typical household electric circuit is between 15 and 20 amps. A single STIHL AL 500 charger draws approximately 4.8 amps. A single AL 300 charger draws approximately 4.4 amps. To reduce the risk of fire from overloading an electrical circuit: Ensure the electrical system is rated to withstand the
expected electrical draw before charging your battery.
Charge multiple batteries one at a time or on separate circuits, unless you know your circuit can handle the total expected draw from multiple chargers.
WARNING Since the charger heats up during the charging process, do not operate the charger on a combustible surface or in a location where combustible gases, liquids, vapors, dusts or other materials and substances are present.
To set up the charger:
Insert the plug (3) into a properly installed wall outlet (4) matching the voltage and electrical frequency stated on the rating plate on the charger.
The charger runs a self-test immediately after it is plugged in. The charger LED (1) will glow green for about 1 second, then it will glow red briefly before going out. Once the LED goes out, the self-test is complete and the charger is ready to charge the battery.
Position the power supply cord (2) so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, come in contact with sharp objects or moving parts or otherwise present a tripping hazard or be subjected to damage or stress.

AP Adapter. Never use a wet charger, @ 5.1. Follow all product-specific warnings and instructions accompanying your charger.
To charge the battery:
Push the plug of the connecting cord (1) into the socket (2) of the AP Adapter (3) until it stops.
Push the AP Adapter into the charger (5) until it stops. The LED on the charger (4) glows green when the battery is charging.
The LEDs on the AR battery glow green and show the state of charge.
When the LEDs on the battery turn off, the charging process is complete and the charger will shut itself off.
Remove the AP Adapter from the charger and disconnect the charger's power supply cord from the electrical outlet when charging is complete.
A battery is not fully charged when it ships from the factory. STIHL recommends that you fully charge the backpack battery before using it the first time.
Operate the charger only indoors, in dry rooms and within an ambient temperature range of 41 F to 104 F (5 C to 40 C).
The battery heats up during operation of the power tool. If a hot battery is connected to the charger, it may be necessary for it to cool down before charging starts. The charging process begins only after the battery has cooled down sufficiently.
Charging time depends on a number of factors, including battery condition and the ambient temperature. For a complete list of approximate charging times, see www.stihl.com/charging-times.
9.1 Battery Status Six LEDs and an acoustic signal indicate the status of the battery.
1 A short beep The acoustic signal works as it should.
2 Four long beeps The battery's charge is low. Recharge the battery.
3 Rapid succession of short beeps There is a malfunction in the battery. The signal stops automatically after a few seconds. Do not attempt to charge, use or store the battery. Replace the battery.

Be aware that your ability to hear the acoustic signal may be reduced when wearing hearing protection.
9.2 Power Tool Status When the battery is connected to the power tool, the same LEDs on the battery will indicate the status of the power tool.
If three LEDs glow red continuously: the power tool motor is too hot. Allow the motor to cool down.
If three LEDs flash red when you activate the trigger switch: the power tool has an electrical malfunction. Do not operate the power tool. Have it checked by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer before use or storage.

9.3 Charge Status The LEDs and acoustic signals on the battery also indicate the battery's state of charge.
To determine the battery's state of charge:
Press the button (1) on the backpack battery.
A single short beep will be emitted. The LEDs on the battery will glow or flash green for about 5 seconds and indicate the state of charge (see illustration).
For example:
If six green LEDs glow continuously: full charge.
If one green LED is flashing and four long beeps are emitted: less than 20 % charge.
10.1 Attaching the Connecting Cord
To attach the connecting cord:
Unplug the battery from the power tool. Remove the cover (1). Pass the plug (3) through the opening in the back plate. Insert the plug in the battery's socket (2) and turn it
clockwise until it engages with an audible click. Replace the cover.
If the four right side LEDs flash red and a rapid succession of several short beeps is emitted: the battery has a malfunction and must be replaced. Do not attempt to charge, use or store the battery.

10.2 Attaching and Removing the Rain Cover
WARNING To reduce the risk of a short circuit, which could lead to electric shock, fire and explosion, keep the battery dry. Protect it from rain, water and other liquids. The rain cover is designed to protect the battery from rain during operation.
To attach the rain cover:
Unplug the battery from the power tool. Make sure the rain cover is dry and in good condition,
without any tears, holes or other damage. Never use a wet or damaged rain cover.
Before starting work in rain or in very damp conditions, make sure that the power tool to be connected to the battery is approved for use in the rain or damp conditions.
Put the rain cover over the battery and attach it to the frame of the backpack with the zipper.
Unzip to remove the rain cover after finishing work. Always confirm that the battery and AP Adapter are dry before charging or storing the battery.
Allow the rain cover to dry before storing. Store the rain cover in a dry location.
10.3 Attaching the Pouch
WARNING Never transport metallic, pointed or sharp objects in the pouch. They may bridge the contacts in the adapter and cause a short circuit.
To attach the pouch:
Unplug the battery from the power tool. Attach the bag at one of the specified locations on the
waist belt. Place the AP Adapter (1) in the bag and close the hook
and eye fastener (2) to secure it.
11.1 Positioning and Adjusting the Connecting Cord
WARNING To reduce the risk of injury from tripping on the connecting cord or losing control of the power tool, always secure the connecting cord through the backpack guides and with the hook and eye fasteners as described below. Always position and secure the connecting cord so that it will not interfere with the proper working technique as described in the instruction manual for the power tool you are using or your ability to maintain control of the power tool. with the cutting attachment or catching on objects, which could cause you to lose balance or control of the power tool, resulting in serious personal injury and property damage. The connecting cord can be secured in different positions and adjusted to suit the height and reach of the operator.
The connecting cord can run through the guide on the shoulder strap (Ill. A), or along the back plate (Ill. B). Secure the connecting cord to the backpack frame with the hook and eye fasteners (1). Always secure the connecting cord using the guide or hook and eye fasteners on the side of the body on which the power tool is held and controlled. Do not allow the connecting cord to swing across your body or hang at your side.
The length of the connecting cord can be adjusted by making a loop around the top (Ill. C) or on the side (Ill. D) of the backpack battery with the hook and eye fasteners.
Always position and secure the connecting cord so that it will not interfere with proper working technique or your ability to maintain control of the power tool.
11.2 Putting on the Harness
WARNING The operator must be able to remove the backpack battery quickly in the event of an emergency. In an emergency, open and remove the waist belt and chest strap quickly before dropping the battery to the ground.
To ensure a proper fit:
Put the backpack battery on your back. Fasten and adjust the waist belt (2) so that it rests
comfortably but securely on your hips. Fasten the chest strap (1) and adjust it so that it fits
comfortably but securely across your chest.

Adjust the harness straps so that the back padding fits firmly and securely against your back.
Thread the end of the waist belt through the loop (3). To remove the harness, open the quick-release fasteners
on the waist belt and chest strap and loosen the harness straps by lifting the sliding adjusters.
To help reduce the risk of injury in the event of an emergency, practice quickly opening the fastener on the waist belt, loosening the shoulder straps and removing the battery. To avoid damage, ease the battery to the ground when practicing. Do not allow the battery to drop to the ground and do not throw it.
12.1 Connecting the Backpack Battery to a Power Tool with an Integrated Socket
WARNING Never use a malfunctioning, damaged, cracked, leaking or deformed battery, @ 5.1. Use and store the battery only within an ambient temperature range of 14 F to 122 F (- 10 C to 50 C), @ 5.1.
WARNING To reduce the risk of unintended activation, never store the power tool with the connecting cord inserted into the power tool socket, @ 16. Always remove the connecting cord before storing the power tool.

manual. If a power tool with an integrated socket is used, pull the
plug out of the power tool socket with steady, even pressure.
If a power tool with battery compartment is used, remove AP adapter from power tool's battery compartment and then pull the plug out of the AP adapter socket with steady, even pressure.
NOTICE Avoid exposing the battery to excessive heat or cold or prolonged periods of direct sunlight. Use or storage outside the recommended ambient temperature range can reduce the performance and/or service life of the backpack battery. 13.1 Preparing for Transportation or Storage
To prepare the battery for transportation or storage:

14.1 Charging a USB Device
WARNING High voltage and excessive charging current at the USB port may damage the connected USB device. Only charge USB devices with an input voltage of 5 V and a maximum charging current of 1.5 A.
To charge a USB device with the battery:
Unplug the battery from the power tool or charger. Remove the cover (1). Pass the plug (2) of the USB device to be charged through
the opening in the back plate. Insert the USB plug in the backpack battery's USB
port (3). Replace the cover. Press the button on the battery. Before charging the backpack battery or starting work with
a power tool, first remove any USB device connected to the USB charging port.
15.1 Transporting the Backpack Battery

When transporting an undamaged and properly functioning backpack battery:
Disconnect the battery from the power tool and insert the AP Adapter in the pouch.
Carry the battery on your back or by the handle. Never transport the backpack battery in a metal or other
container that is capable of conducting electricity, or near metal objects (e.g., paper clips, nails, coins, keys).
If you are placing the battery in a container or transporting it in a vehicle, secure it and its container against turnover, impact and damage.
Never sit on or stand on the battery. Never place objects on the battery or stack batteries on top of one another.

WARNING Special precautions must be taken when transporting a damaged or malfunctioning battery. To reduce the risk of accidents, always contact your STIHL servicing dealer before transporting such a battery. STIHL backpack batteries comply with the requirements set forth in UN-Manual ST/SG/AC.10/11/Rev.5/Part III, Subsection 38.3.
Commercial air, vessel and ground transportation of lithium ion cells and batteries is regulated. The backpack battery is classified as a UN 3480, Class 9, packaging group II product. Shipping it, either as a complete tool or the battery, requires compliance with all applicable shipping regulations. Check with the ground, vessel, air cargo or passenger airline to determine if transport is prohibited or subject to restrictions or exemptions prior to shipping or travel.
Normally, no further conditions have to be met by the user in order to transport STIHL backpack batteries by road to the power tool's operating site. Check and comply with any special regulations that may apply to your situation.

16.1 Storing the Backpack Battery
WARNING To reduce the risk of a short circuit, which could lead to electric shock, fire and explosion, never store the battery in a metal container or near metal objects or in wet or damp conditions, @ 5.1. If the battery is damp or wet, allow it to dry thoroughly before storing, @ 5.1.
WARNING High temperatures can damage the battery and result in loss of performance and a shortened battery life. It may also cause the battery to generate heat, rupture, leak, ignite or
explode, resulting in severe or fatal personal injury or property damage, @ 5.1. Use and store the battery only within an ambient temperature range of 14 F to 122 F (- 10 C to 50 C), @ 5.1. Never store the battery in direct
sunlight or inside a vehicle in hot weather, @ 5.1.
To properly store the battery:
Disconnect the battery from the power tool or the charger. Make sure the battery is dry and store it indoors in a dry
and secure location. Keep it out of the reach of children and other unauthorized
persons. Protect the battery against dampness and corrosive
agents such as garden chemicals and de-icing salts. Protect the battery from exposure to conductive liquids
such as salt water. For maximum battery life, store the battery at an ambient
temperature between 50 F and 68 F (10 C and 20 C) with a charge between 40 % and 60 % (2 green LEDs).
Do not leave spare batteries unused. Use them in rotation.
17.1 Cleaning the Backpack Battery
WARNING To reduce the risk of personal injury from unintended activation, unplug the battery before carrying out any cleaning work, @ 6. Users of this battery should carry out only the cleaning described in this manual.
To clean the battery:
Clean dust and dirt off the battery with a dry cloth or soft, dry brush.
Do not use solvents or aggressive detergents to clean the battery. They may damage the polymer housing and other components.
Do not spray the battery with water.

Lea y respete todas las precauciones de seguridad dadas en este manual de instrucciones y en el manual de la herramienta STIHL que utiliza esta batera. El uso inadecuado puede provocar lesiones personales graves o mortales o daos a la propiedad.
Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales o daos a la propiedad debido a incendios, explosiones o quemaduras, incluidas las quemaduras qumicas, no desarme, aplaste, deje caer, dae o caliente la batera a ms de 100 C (212 F). Nunca la exponga al fuego ni la incinere. @ 5.1.

5.1 Advertencias e instrucciones de la batera
ADVERTENCIA Si las bateras AR de STIHL se usan para cualquier
propsito diferente de suministrar alimentacin a las herramientas STIHL indicadas a continuacin, esto podra causar lesiones personales y daos a la propiedad. Utilcese nicamente con las herramientas motorizadas STIHL dadas a continuacin: Motosierras MSA de STIHL (vea las excepciones ms
adelante)
Podadores de varilla HTA de STIHL
Motoguadaas y cortadores de arbustos FSA de STIHL
Cortasetos HSA de STIHL
Cortasetos de alcance adicional HLA de STIHL
Sopladores BGA de STIHL
No utilice las bateras AR de STIHL con las tronzadoras TSA ni los cortacspedes RMA de STIHL. El uso con estos productos puede causar lesiones personales graves y daos a la propiedad como resultado de que el cordn de conexin quede atrapado, la prdida del control o la prdida del equilibrio.
No use bateras STIHL AR con motosierras de mango superior STIHL MSA si se va a trepar en el rbol para poda y mantenimiento. El uso puede causar lesiones personales graves y daos a la propiedad como resultado de que el cordn de conexin quede atrapado, la prdida del control o la prdida del equilibrio. Nunca utilice ni cargue una batera defectuosa, daada, agrietada, deformada o que pierda lquido.
Nunca abra, desarme, aplaste, deje caer o dae la batera ni la exponga a impactos.
Nunca la exponga a microondas o altas presiones.
Nunca coloque objetos en las ranuras de refrigeracin de la batera.
No se siente ni se pare sobre la batera. Nunca coloque objetos sobre la batera ni apile varias bateras una sobre la otra.
Las altas temperaturas pueden hacer que la batera genere calor, se rompa, pierda lquido, se incendie o explote, lo que podra causar lesiones personales graves o fatales y daos a la propiedad. La exposicin a temperaturas fuera del rango recomendado tambin puede reducir la vida til y el rendimiento de la batera.
5 INSTRUCCIONES IMPORTANTES DE SEGURIDAD
Nunca caliente la batera por encima de los 100C (212F).
Nunca la incinere ni la coloque sobre el fuego o cerca de este, de estufas o de otros sitios con altas temperaturas.
Utilice y guarde la batera nicamente a una temperatura ambiente de 10 C a 50 C (14 F a 122 F).
No guarde la batera en un lugar con luz solar directa ni dentro de un vehculo en climas calurosos.

Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales o daos a la propiedad en caso de que la batera emane humo o un olor inusual, o est ms caliente de lo habitual durante el uso, la carga o el almacenamiento:
Inmediatamente deje de usar o cargar la batera. Si la est usando, qutesela de la espalda. Mantngase a una distancia prudente y preprese para ponerse en contacto con las autoridades en caso de incendio o explosin.
Para reducir el riesgo de cortocircuito, que podra causar una descarga elctrica, un incendio o una explosin:
Mantenga las bateras en desuso alejadas de objetos metlicos (por ejemplo, presillas de papel, clavos, monedas, llaves).
Nunca transporte o guarde la batera en un recipiente metlico.
Guarde la batera bajo techo, en un lugar seco.
Nunca guarde la batera en entornos hmedos o corrosivos, o en condiciones que podran generar la corrosin de sus componentes metlicos.
Nunca guarde la batera en la herramienta elctrica o el cargador.
Proteja la batera de la exposicin a agentes corrosivos, como productos qumicos de jardinera y sales de deshielo.
Proteja la batera contra la exposicin a lquidos conductores de electricidad tales como el agua salada.
No intente reparar, abrir o desarmar la batera. No contiene en su interior piezas que el usuario pueda reparar.
El fluido de bateras que se escape es daino y puede causar irritaciones en la piel o los ojos, quemaduras qumicas y otras lesiones personales graves.
Evite el contacto con la piel y los ojos.
Use un absorbente inerte, como la arena, sobre el fluido de batera derramado.
En caso de contacto accidental, lave el rea de contacto inmediatamente con agua y un jabn suave.
Si entra lquido en los ojos: No se frote. Enjuague el ojo abierto con agua por al menos 15 minutos y busque atencin mdica.
Un incendio causado por bateras puede ser peligroso. Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales graves y daos a la propiedad en caso de incendio:
Evace el rea. El fuego se puede propagar rpidamente. Mantngase alejado de los vapores generados y mantenga una distancia segura.
Pngase en contacto con el departamento de bomberos.
Aunque se puede emplear agua para apagar un incendio de la batera, es preferible usar un extintor de incendios de polvo qumico multiuso.
Consulte al departamento de bomberos acerca de cmo desechar correctamente la batera quemada.
No moje la batera. Protjala de la lluvia, el agua y otros lquidos.
Nunca sumerja la batera en agua u otros lquidos.

5.2 Operador
ADVERTENCIA El uso de una herramienta motorizada con la batera tipo
mochila puede ser extenuante. El operador debe hallarse en buenas condiciones tanto fsicas como mentales. Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales causadas por fatiga o prdida del control:
Consulte a su mdico antes de usar la batera tipo mochila si tiene una afeccin de salud que pueda agravarse por el trabajo extenuante.
No utilice la batera tipo mochila si se encuentra bajo la influencia de cualquier sustancia (drogas, alcohol, medicamentos, etc.) que puedan afectar la visin, el equilibrio, la destreza o el juicio.
Est alerta. No use la batera tipo mochila cuando est fatigado. Tmese un descanso si se siente cansado.
No permita que los menores de edad usen la batera tipo mochila.
La batera se dise para ser usada por una sola persona. No deje que otras personas estn en el lugar de trabajo.
5.3 Cordn de conexin
ADVERTENCIA Usar un cordn de conexin daado puede provocar
incendios, descargas elctricas y otras lesiones personales o daos a la propiedad. Para reducir estos riesgos:
Revise regularmente el cordn de conexin de la batera en busca de daos. Si llegara a daarse, desconctelo de inmediato de la herramienta motorizada y de la batera. Nunca use un cordn de conexin daado.
No desgaste, aplaste, le d tirones ni de otro modo maltrate o utilice mal el cordn de conexin. Protjalo del calor, el aceite y los bordes afilados.
Si el cordn de conexin se daa, solicite a un concesionario de servicio STIHL autorizado que lo sustituya antes de usarlo. Un cordn de conexin daado debe ser reemplazado por un repuesto STIHL de tipo idntico.
Desenchufe la batera tipo mochila de la herramienta motorizada cuando no lo utilice.
Nunca le d tirones ni hale el cordn de conexin para desconectarlo. Para desconectar el cordn de conexin de la batera tipo mochila, sujete el enchufe de la batera y no el cordn.
Asegrese de que el cordn de conexin est ubicado o marcado como para que no se lo pise, cause tropiezos, est en contacto con objetos cortantes o partes mviles, o de otro modo sujeto a dao o esfuerzo.
Inspeccione el adaptador AP, su cordn de conexin y sus enchufes para verificar que no presenten indicios de dao. Nunca use un adaptador AP, cordn de conexin o enchufe daado.
Asegrese de que el aislamiento del cordn elctrico y del enchufe est en buenas condiciones.
Antes de usarlo, estire el cordn de conexin si est retorcido.
El cordn debe ubicarse de modo que el accesorio de trabajo de la herramienta motorizada que est usando no entre en contacto con ste ni le cause daos.
No use el cordn de conexin para ningn otro fin que no sea proporcionar una conexin elctrica entre la batera y la herramienta motorizada STIHL autorizada. Por ejemplo: No lo use para trasladar o colgar la batera o la herramienta motorizada.

Los dos extremos del cordn de conexin tienen enchufes con formas diferentes y emplean contactos elctricos diferentes. El enchufe de la batera est diseado para insertarse en el tomacorriente de la batera tipo mochila. El enchufe del otro extremo se inserta en el adaptador AP o la herramienta motorizada STIHL con tomacorriente incorporado. Para reducir el riesgo de descarga elctrica y daos a la batera y al cordn de conexin:
Nunca intente insertar el extremo incorrecto del cordn de conexin en el tomacorriente de la batera, del adaptador AP o de la herramienta motorizada (vea la ilustracin).
5.4 Uso de la batera tipo mochila
ADVERTENCIA El uso inadecuado puede causar lesiones personales o
daos a la propiedad. Use la batera solo como se describe en este
manual de instrucciones.
Nunca modifique, de ninguna manera, esta batera tipo mochila.
Utilice nicamente accesorios especficamente autorizados por STIHL para uso con esta batera tipo mochila.
Utilice la batera nicamente con el arns provisto para ello. No lo combine con ningn otro tipo de tiras de acarreo.
Para ayudar a reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales graves o mortales a causa de la activacin accidental de una herramienta conectada con la batera:
Nunca deje la batera desatendida cuando est enchufada a una herramienta motorizada.
Desconecte la batera de la herramienta motorizada y del cargador antes de almacenarla.
Para reducir el riesgo de sufrir lesiones personales graves por la prdida del control durante el uso:
Lea y respete todas las instrucciones de seguridad.relacionadas con la herramienta motorizada que est conectada con la batera.
Asegrese de estar siempre en equilibrio y de tener los pies bien apoyados. Se debe tener cuidado especial cuando las condiciones del suelo son resbaladizas (suelo hmedo, nieve) y en terreno con mucha vegetacin.
Para evitar tropezarse o caerse, est atento a los obstculos ocultos, tales como tocones, races, piedras, hoyos y zanjas.
Tenga sumo cuidado al trabajar en pendientes o sobre suelo desnivelado, ya que la batera tipo mochila puede alterar su centro de equilibrio.
Nunca trabaje con la batera tipo mochila en rboles, techos ni en escaleras o soportes inseguros.
No trate de alcanzar ms lejos de lo debido.
Para reducir el riesgo de lesionarse por tropezarse con el cordn de conexin o por la prdida del control de la herramienta:
Siempre coloque y asegure el cordn de conexin de manera que no interfiera con la herramienta motorizada ni con las tcnicas de uso adecuado.

Desenchufe la batera de la herramienta antes de armar, transportar, ajustar, inspeccionar, limpiar, darle servicio o mantenimiento o guardar la herramienta. Desenchufe la batera en caso de una avera o emergencia y toda vez que la herramienta no est en uso.

Asegure el cordn de conexin en las guas presentes en la mochila y con los sujetadores de gancho y lazo. Mantenga el cordn de conexin alejado del accesorio de corte de la herramienta.
Est siempre atento a la ubicacin del cordn de conexin mientras trabaje. Evite que entre en contacto con el accesorio de corte de la herramienta o que se enganche en otros objetos, lo cual podra hacerle perder el equilibrio o el control de la herramienta y dar por resultado lesiones personales graves y daos a la propiedad.
El uso de una batera tipo mochila que est daada o incorrectamente ajustada puede generar un defecto y aumentar el riesgo de lesiones personales graves y daos a la propiedad. Antes de comenzar el trabajo o de cargar la batera:
Siempre revise que la batera est en buenas condiciones y funcione correctamente.
Revise la batera, el cordn de conexin, los receptculos, enchufes y el adaptador AP en busca de corrosin, materias extraas y daos.
Si los cuatro LED destellan y se escucha una sucesin rpida de pitidos breves por varios segundos, la batera no est funcionando debidamente. Desconecte la batera de la herramienta motorizada, qutesela de la espalda y comunquese inmediatamente con su concesionario de servicio STIHL. No intente usar, cargar ni guardar la batera hasta que el problema se haya corregido.
Nunca utilice, cargue ni guarde una batera defectuosa, daada, agrietada, deformada o que pierda lquido. Llvela de inmediato al concesionario autorizado de STIHL. No use, cargue ni guarde la batera hasta que el problema se haya corregido.
Compruebe que las tiras para la espalda y dems caractersticas de la mochila se encuentren en buenas condiciones, debidamente ajustadas y seguras. Si presentan desgaste, debilitamiento, roturas o daos, comunquese con el concesionario autorizado de STIHL para reemplazarlas.
6.1 Advertencias e instrucciones
ADVERTENCIA La batera tipo mochila no contiene piezas que el usuario
est autorizado a reparar. Para reducir el riesgo de incendios, descargas elctricas u otras lesiones personales y daos a la propiedad:
No intente reparar, abrir o desarmar la batera. No contiene en su interior piezas que el usuario pueda reparar.

El uso de componentes no autorizados o no aprobados por STIHL puede causar lesiones graves o mortales y daos a la propiedad.
STIHL recomienda que solo se usen piezas de repuesto STIHL idnticas para la reparacin o el mantenimiento.
Para reducir el riesgo de descarga elctrica durante la carga:
Desenchufe el cargador del tomacorriente de pared antes de inspeccionar o limpiar el cargador.
Revise regularmente los contactos elctricos del cargador y asegrese de que el aislamiento del cordn elctrico y el enchufe del cargador estn en buenas condiciones y no muestren signos de deterioro (fragilidad), desgaste o dao.
Solicite a un concesionario de servicio STIHL autorizado que reemplace un cordn elctrico daado.

materias extraas. Efecte la limpieza necesaria con un pao seco o con un cepillo suave y seco.

Retire el cable de conexin de la herramienta elctrica o del adaptador AP.

Guarde la batera bajo techo, en un lugar seco y bajo llave al que los nios y otras personas no autorizadas no puedan acceder.
Nunca guarde la batera en entornos hmedos o corrosivos, o en condiciones que pudieran generar la corrosin de sus componentes metlicos.
Nunca guarde la batera enchufada en el adaptador AP o la herramienta motorizada.
Nunca guarde la batera en un envase metlico, ni en un envase junto con objetos metlicos (por ejemplo, presillas para papel, clavos, monedas, llaves).
7.1 Preparacin de la batera tipo mochila para el funcionamiento

8.1 Preparacin del cargador para el funcionamiento

ADVERTENCIA Un circuito elctrico domstico tpico suministra entre 15 y 20 amperios. Un cargador STIHL AL 500 consume aproximadamente 4,8 A. Un cargador AL 300 consume aproximadamente 4,4 A. Para reducir el riesgo de incendios causados por la sobrecarga de un circuito elctrico: Compruebe que el circuito elctrico tenga capacidad
suficiente para suministrar el consumo elctrico anticipado antes de cargar la batera.
Cargue varias bateras una por una, o en circuitos separados, a menos que se sepa que el circuito es capaz de soportar el consumo total anticipado de varios cargadores.
ADVERTENCIA Dado que el cargador se calienta durante el proceso de carga, no haga funcionar el cargador sobre superficies que puedan incendiarse o en un lugar donde haya gases, lquidos, vapores, polvo u otros materiales y sustancias combustibles.
Para preparar el cargador para el funcionamiento:

rojo por un lapso breve hasta apagarse. Una vez que el LED se apaga, la autoprueba ha finalizado y el cargador est listo para cargar la batera.
Ubique el cordn elctrico (2) como para que no se lo pise, cause tropiezos, est en contacto con objetos cortantes o partes mviles o, de otro modo sujeto, a dao o esfuerzo.
8.2 Carga
ADVERTENCIA Las bateras STIHL poseen caractersticas y dispositivos de seguridad que, de daarse, pueden provocar que esta genere calor, se rompa, pierda lquido, se incendie o explote. Nunca cargue una batera que exhiba mal funcionamiento o est daada, con fugas o deformada, ni utilice un cargador averiado, @ 5.1. Nunca inserte un adaptador AP que est mojado. Nunca use el cargador si est mojado, @ 5.1. Respete todas las advertencias e instrucciones que acompaan al cargador.
Para cargar la batera:

Inserte el adaptador AP en el cargador (5) hasta que haga tope. El LED del cargador (4) se ilumina en verde cuando la batera se est cargando.

Cuando se apagan los LED de la batera, el proceso de carga est finalizado y el cargador se apagar a s mismo.
Retire el adaptador AP del cargador y desconecte el cable de suministro elctrico del cargador del tomacorriente de pared cuando se haya finalizado la carga.
La batera no se despacha de la fbrica cargada completamente. STIHL recomienda cargar completamente la batera tipo mochila antes de usarla por primera vez.
Utilice el cargador bajo techo, nicamente en recintos secos, y a una temperatura ambiente de 5 C a 40 C (41 F a 104 F).
La batera se calienta al usarla en la herramienta motorizada. Si se conecta una batera caliente al cargador, posiblemente habr que dejarla enfriar antes de cargarla. El proceso de carga comienza nicamente cuando la batera est lo suficientemente fra.

9.1 Estado de la batera Seis LED y una seal acstica denotan el estado de la batera.

9 Diagnstico por LED y seales acsticas
Si un LED se enciende en rojo continuamente, la batera est demasiado caliente o demasiado fra. Deje que la batera se caliente o se enfre gradualmente a una temperatura ambiente de aproximadamente 10 C a 20 C (50 F a 68 F).
Si los cuatro LED derechos destellan en rojo y se escucha una sucesin rpida de pitidos breves: la batera est averiada y es necesario reemplazarla. No intente cargar, usar ni guardar la batera.

9.2 Estado de la herramienta motorizada Cuando la batera est conectada con la herramienta motorizada, los mismos LED en la batera indicarn el estado de la herramienta motorizada.
Si tres LED se encienden en rojo continuamente, el motor de la herramienta motorizada est demasiado caliente. Deje que el motor se enfre.
Si tres LED destellan en rojo cuando activa el gatillo, la herramienta motorizada tiene un defecto elctrico. No utilice la herramienta motorizada. Solicite a un concesionario de servicio STIHL autorizado que la revise antes de usarlo.

9.3 Estado de carga Los LED y seales acsticas en la batera tambin muestran el estado de carga de la batera.
Para determinar el estado de carga de la batera:
Pulse el botn (1) en la batera tipo mochila. Se escucha un pitido breve. Los LED de la batera se encendern o destellarn en verde por unos 5 segundos e indicarn el estado de carga (vea la ilustracin).
Por ejemplo:
Si seis LED se encienden en verde continuamente, la carga est completa.
Si un LED verde destella y se escuchan cuatro pitidos largos: resta menos de un 20 % de carga.
10.1 FijacinFijacin del cordn de conexin
Para fijar el cordn de conexin:
Desenchufe la batera de la herramienta motorizada. Quite la cubierta (1). Pase el enchufe (3) por la abertura de la placa trasera. Inserte el enchufe en el receptculo (2) de la batera y
grelo en sentido horario hasta que se enganche con un chasquido audible.
Vuelva a colocar la cubierta.
10.2 Montaje y retiro de la cubierta contra lluvia

Para montar la cubierta contra lluvia:
Desenchufe la batera de la herramienta motorizada. Compruebe que la cubierta contra lluvia est seca y en
buenas condiciones, sin roturas, perforaciones ni otros daos. No use nunca una cubierta contra lluvia que est mojada o daada.
Antes de trabajar bajo la lluvia o en condiciones muy hmedas, compruebe que la herramienta motorizada que se conectar con la batera est aprobada para usarse bajo la lluvia o en condiciones hmedas.
Coloque la cubierta contra lluvia sobre la batera y fjela al bastidor de la mochila con la cremallera.
Abra la cremallera para quitar la cubierta contra lluvia despus de haber finalizado el trabajo. Siempre confirme que la batera y el adaptador AP estn secos antes de cargar la batera o de guardarla.
Permita que la cubierta contra lluvia se seque antes de guardarla. Guarde la cubierta contra lluvia en un lugar seco.
10.3 FiMMontaje de la bolsa
ADVERTENCIA Nunca transporte objetos metlicos, puntiagudos o filosos en la bolsa. Estos pueden generar un puente entre los contactos del adaptador y causar un cortocircuito.
Para montar la bolsa:
Desenchufe la batera de la herramienta motorizada. Fije la bolsa en una de las posiciones especificadas en la
correa para cintura. Coloque el adaptador AP (1) en la bolsa y cierre el
sujetador de gancho y lazo (2) para asegurarlo.
11.1 Colocacin y ajuste del cordn de conexin
ADVERTENCIA Para reducir el riesgo de lesionarse por tropezarse con el cordn de conexin o por la prdida del control de la herramienta, siempre asegure el cordn por las guas presentes en la mochila y con los cierres de velcro, de la manera descrita a continuacin. El cordn de conexin puede asegurarse en posiciones diferentes y ajustarse segn la estatura y el alcance del operador.
El cordn de conexin puede pasarse por las guas en la correa para el hombro (ilustracin A) o a lo largo de la placa trasera (ilustracin B). Asegure el cordn de conexin al bastidor de la mochila y con los cierres de velcro (1). Siempre asegure el cordn de conexin utilizando la gua o cierres de velcro hacia el mismo lado del cuerpo en el cual se sujeta y se controla la herramienta motorizada. No permita que el cordn de conexin penda delante de su cuerpo ni a su costado.
La longitud del cordn de conexin puede ajustarse por medio de formar un lazo por la parte superior (Ilust. C) o por el costado (Ilust. D) de la batera tipo mochila, fijndolo con cierres de velcro.
Siempre coloque y asegure el cordn de conexin de modo que no interfiera con las tcnicas de trabajo adecuadas ni con su capacidad de mantener el control de la herramienta motorizada.
11.2 Colocacin del arns
ADVERTENCIA El operador deber poder despojarse de la batera tipo mochila rpidamente en caso de emergencia. En caso de emergencia, desabroche y qutese el cinturn y la tira de pecho rpidamente, antes de dejar caer la batera al suelo.
Para asegurar una colocacin adecuada:
Colquese la batera tipo mochila sobre la espalda. Abroche y ajuste el cinturn (2) de modo que repose de
manera cmoda pero segura sobre sus caderas. Abroche la tira para el pecho (1) y ajstela de modo que
quede cmoda pero segura por su pecho.

Ajuste las tiras del arns de modo que la almohadilla de la placa quede firme y segura contra su espalda.
Pase el extremo del cinturn por dentro del lazo (3). Para quitarse el arns, desabroche las hebillas de soltado
rpido del cinturn y de la tira para el pecho y afloje las tiras del arns por medio de levantar los ajustadores deslizantes.
Para ayudar a reducir el riesgo de lesionarse en caso de una emergencia, practique la apertura rpida de la hebilla del cinturn, soltarse las tiras para los hombros y quitarse la batera. Para evitar daos, coloque la batera suavemente en el suelo cuando est practicando. No permita que la batera caiga al suelo ni la lance.
12.1 Conexin de la batera tipo mochila a una herramienta motorizada con receptculo incorporado
ADVERTENCIA Nunca use una batera defectuosa, daada, agrietada, deformada o que pierda lquido. @ 5.1. Utilice y guarde la batera nicamente a una temperatura ambiente de -10 C a 50 C (14 F a 122 F), @ 5.1.
ADVERTENCIA Para reducir el riesgo de activacin accidental, nunca guarde la herramienta motorizada con el cable de conexin en el tomacorriente de la herramienta motorizada. @ 16. Siempre retire el cable de conexin antes de guardar la herramienta motorizada.
Para conectar la batera a una herramienta motorizada con receptculo incorporado:
Alinee la flecha que est en el enchufe del cable de conexin (1) con la flecha del tomacorriente de la herramienta motorizada (2).
Empuje el enchufe dentro del tomacorriente con una presin firme y uniforme hasta insertarlo por completo. La batera y la herramienta motorizada ahora estn conectadas.

Si est utilizando una herramienta motorizada con compartimiento de batera, saque el adaptador AP del compartimiento de batera de la herramienta y luego extraiga el enchufe del adaptador AP con una presin firme y uniforme.
INDICACIN Evite exponer la batera a calor o fro excesivo, o a perodos prolongados de luz directa. El uso o el almacenamiento fuera del rango de temperatura ambiente recomendado puede reducir el rendimiento o la vida til de la batera tipo mochila. 14.1 CargacCarga de un dispositivo USB
ADVERTENCIA Un exceso de voltaje o corriente de carga en el puerto USB puede daar el dispositivo que est conectado. nicamente se deben cargar dispositivos USB con un voltaje de entrada de 5 V y una corriente mxima de carga de 1,5 A.
Para cargar un dispositivo USB con la batera:
Desconecte la batera de la herramienta motorizada o del cargador.
Quite la cubierta (1). Pase el enchufe (2) del dispositivo USB que se desea
cargar por la abertura de la placa trasera. Inserte el enchufe de USB en el puerto USB (3) de la
batera tipo mochila. Vuelva a colocar la cubierta. Presione el botn en la batera. Antes de cargar la batera tipo mochila o de empezar a
trabajar con la herramienta motorizada, primero retire todo dispositivo USB que est conectado al puerto USB de carga.
15.1 Transporte de la batera tipo mochila

Transporte de una batera tipo mochila sin daos y en buenas condiciones de funcionamiento:
Desconecte la batera de la herramienta motorizada e inserte el adaptador AP en la bolsa.
Transporte la batera en sus espaldas o sujetndola por su mango.
Nunca transporte la batera tipo mochila en un envase metlico, ni en un envase junto con objetos metlicos (por ejemplo, presillas para papel, clavos, monedas, llaves).
Si se colocar la batera en un contenedor o se la transportar en un vehculo, asegrela junto con su contenedor para prevenir vuelcos, impactos y daos.
No se siente ni se pare sobre la batera. Nunca coloque objetos sobre la batera ni apile varias bateras una sobre la otra.
ADVERTENCIA Se deben adoptar precauciones especiales al transportar una batera daada o averiada. Para disminuir el riesgo de accidentes, siempre comunquese con su concesionario de servicio STIHL antes de transportar una batera en esas condiciones. Las bateras tipo mochila STIHL cumplen con los requisitos descritos en el Manual UN ST/SG/AC.10/11/Ver.5/Parte III, Subseccin 38.3.
El transporte comercial por aire, agua y tierra de celdas de ion de litio y bateras est regulado. La batera tipo mochila est clasificada como un producto UN 3480, Clase 9 y grupo de envasado II. Para transportarla, ya sea como parte de la
herramienta completa o sola, es necesario cumplir con todas las normas de transporte correspondientes. Antes del transporte o traslado, consulte con la empresa de transporte por tierra o agua, o bien con la aerolnea de carga o pasajeros, para determinar si el transporte est prohibido o sujeto a restricciones o exenciones.

16.1 Almacenamiento de la batera tipo mochila

Desconecte la batera de la herramienta motorizada o del cargador.
Compruebe que la batera est seca y gurdela bajo techo, en un lugar seco y bajo llave.
Mantngalo fuera del alcance de los nios y de otras personas no autorizadas.
Proteja la batera contra la humedad y los agentes corrosivos, como productos qumicos de jardinera y sales de deshielo.
Proteja la batera contra la exposicin a lquidos conductores de electricidad tales como el agua salada.
Para obtener la duracin mxima de la batera, guarde la batera en una temperatura ambiente de entre 10 C y 20 C (50 F y 68 F) con una carga de entre el 40 % y el 60 % (2 LED iluminados en verde).
No deje sueltas las bateras que no se utilizan. Rtelas.
17.1 Limpieza de la batera tipo mochila

No roce agua sobre la batera.
17.2 Limpie las superficies de contacto del cable de conexin
Desconecte la batera tipo mochila, @ 12.3.
Limpie las superficies de contacto (1) con un trapo seco.
Si se observa decoloracin (flecha) en las superficies de contacto: Quite la decoloracin con papel de lija fino P 600 hasta que la superficie de contacto quede reluciente nuevamente.

18.1 Inspeccin y mantenimiento de la batera tipo mochila

Cuatro LED destellan en rojo y se escucha una sucesin rpida de pitidos breves.
Batera averiada. Desconecte la batera de la herramienta motorizada y vuelva a conectarla.
Encienda la herramienta elctrica. Si los LED siguen destellando, no intente usar la batera.
La batera est averiada y es necesario reemplazarla.
Tres LED se encienden en rojo.
La herramienta elctrica se calienta excesivamente.
Deje que la herramienta elctrica se enfre.
