Features This AV cordless IR transmitter is suitable for use only with Sony Portable CD/DVD Player DVP- FX1/F5 (as of May 2000). If you connect this transmitter to DVP-FX1/F5 and use it with an AV cordless IR receiver which has LASER LINK, you can have the picture and sound transmitted optically. Cords no longer being in the way, making any AV unit setup possible. * LASER LINK is a system which transmits and

receives a picture and sound by using infrared rays. LASER LINK is a trademark of Sony Corporation.

Note IFT-R20/R10 AV Cordless IR Receivers are not available in some areas.

1 Connect the AV cordless IR transmitter to the Portable CD/DVD Player.

2 Connect an AV cordless IR receiver (e.g., IFT-R20/R10) to a TV. Refer to the operating instructions of the AV cordless IR receiver for more information.

Using a cordless AV system (1) Turn the TV on and set the TV/VCR selector on

the TV to VCR. (2) Turn on the power of the AV cordless IR

receiver. (3) (If you are using DVP-FX1)

Set the LINE SELECT switch to OUT. (4) Turn on the power of the Portable CD/DVD

Player. (5) Set the POWER switch on the AV cordless IR

transmitter to ON. (see illustration C) The POWER indicator turns on.

(6) Adjust the angle and direction of both the AV cordless IR transmitter and receiver. (see illustration D)

(7) Start playback on the Portable CD/DVD Player. (8) Adjust the angle and distance of both the AV

cordless IR transmitter and receiver to obtain clear pictures.

To turn off the equipment Be sure to turn off the AV cordless IR transmitter before you turn off the Portable CD/DVD Player.

Notes Refer to the operating instructions of the Sony

Portable CD/DVD Player for further information on using the AV cordless IR transmitter.

Do not cover the AV cordless IR transmitter and IR receiver with your hands or other objects.

Infrared rays cannot pass through walls or opaque glass. Be sure to place the AV cordless IR transmitter and receiver in an unobstructed position. Using LASER LINK through glass will shorten the transmission range.

Do not place the AV cordless IR transmitter too close to the TV, as this may cause noise and/ or beat.

If you are using the AV cordless IR transmitter only with a battery pack, and the remaining battery capacity becomes low, noise may occur on the pictures and sounds, and the transmission range may shorten. When using LASER LINK, connect the AV cordless IR transmitter to the AC power adaptor or charge the battery.

Troubleshooting

If you run into any problem using the unit, first check the power supply source. Then use the following table for troubleshooting. Should the difficulty persist disconnect the power source and contact your Sony dealer or local authorized Sony service facility.

Trouble Cause and/or remedy

No picture and no sound at all The TV/ VCR connector on the TV is

set to TV. bSet it to VCR.

The AC power adaptor of the AV cordless IR receiver is not connected to an AC outlet. bConnect the AC power adaptor of

the AV cordless IR receiver to an AC outlet.

Connecting cord is not connected correctly. bConnect the connecting cord

correctly. Direct sunlight is shining on the

infrared sensor of the AV cordless IR receiver. bAvoid direct sunlight.

The infrared transmission system does not operate

The power of the AV cordless IR receiver is turned off (OFF). bPress the power button to turn the

AV cordless IR receiver on (ON). The power of the AV cordless IR

transmitter is turned off (OFF). bTurn the power on (ON).

The power of the Portable CD/DVD Player is turned off (OFF). bTurn the power on (ON).

The AV cordless IR transmitter and receiver are not facing each other. bAdjust the position and angle of

both units. The AV cordless IR receiver is

positioned too far from the AV cordless IR transmitter. bUse the AV cordless IR transmitter

near the AV cordless IR receiver. The LINE SELECT switch of DVP-

FX1 is set to IN. bSet it to OUT.

Background noise and unclear picture The AV cordless IR transmitter and

receiver are not facing each other. bAdjust the position and angle of

both units. Another infrared emitting appliance

is operating. bStop operating it.

Precautions Operation Do not place the unit in a location:

On use Do not use in areas of strong electrical currents Do not use near a AM radio or tuner. If you do

radio or tuner interference will result. Do not apply mechanical shock or drop the unit. During use the unit will heat up, this is normal. Do not block the space between the AV cordless

IR transmitter and receiver. If you do the picture and sound will not function.

Do not use other infrared emitting appliance at the same time. Interference may occur.

On cleaning and care Clean the cabinet with a soft cloth slightly

moistened with water or mild detergent solution. Do not use alcohol, benzene, or thinner to clean

the cabinet, as they may mar the finish. When using a chemical cloth, refer to the

supplied instructions. Do not use sprays such as insecticides, or place

the AV cordless IR transmitter near rubber or plastic objects, as they may mar the finish.

1 Raccordez lmetteur AV infrarouge sans fil au lecteur portable de CD/DVD.

2 Raccordez un rcepteur AV infrarouge sans fil (par exemple IFT-R20/R10) un tlviseur. Pour plus dinformations, reportez-vous au mode demploi du rcepteur AV infrarouge sans fil.

Utilisation dun systme AV sans fil (1) Allumez le tlviseur puis rglez le slecteur

TV/VCR du tlviseur sur VCR. (2) Mettez le rcepteur AV infrarouge sans fil sous

tension. (3) (Si vous utilisez DVP-FX1)

Placez le commutateur LINE SELECT sur OUT. (4) Mettez le lecteur portable de CD/DVD sous

tension. (5) Mettez le commutateur POWER de lmetteur

AV infrarouge sans fil sur ON. (voir illustration C) Lindicateur POWER sallume.

(6) Ajustez langle et la direction de lmetteur et du rcepteur AV infrarouge sans fil. (voir illustration D)

(7) Commencez la lecture sur le lecteur portable de CD/DVD.

(8) Ajustez langle et la distance de lmetteur et du rcepteur AV infrarouge sans fil pour obtenir des images nettes.

Pour mettre lappareil hors tension Attention mettre hors tension lmetteur AV infrarouge sans fil avant de mettre hors tension le lecteur portable de CD/DVD portable.
