SK 3063-U Mikroport bodypack transmitter

Together with a connected microphone, the transmitter can be used as a wireless microphone. Due to its small dimensions and extremely flat design, the SK 3063-U is especially suitable for all applications where a very unobtrusive transmitter is required, e.g. film and TV productions, musicals.

The transmitter is equipped with HiDynPlus, the Sennheiser noise reduction system that reduces possible RF interference and improves the signal-to-noise ratio. Together with a receiver which is also equipped with HiDynPlus (e.g. EM 3031/32-U, EM 3532-U, EM 3732, EK 3241, EM 1046), an RF link of excellent operational reliability and highest transmission quality can be set up.

Putting the SK 3063-U transmitter into operation

Selecting a microphone

The SK 3063-U transmitter can be used with the Sennheiser MKE 2-4, MKE 102-4 (omni-directional) and MKE 40-4, MKE 104-4 (cardioid) clip-on microphones. The power supply of these microphones is via the microphone input of the transmitter.

Unscrew the coupling ring inorder to unlock the special audio connector of the microphone.

Attaching and removing the battery pack

For powering the SK 3063-U transmitter, you can either use the B 50/B 250 battery pack or the rechargeable BA 50/BA 250 accupack.

The display at the front of the power pack indicates the charge status of the batteries/ rechargeable batteries.

The transmitter also transmits the current battery status information to the receiver where it is shown on the display panel.

7

To attach the B 50/B 250 battery pack:

Using the thumb and index finger of one hand, push the two catches on the transmitter as shown in diagram A. The battery pack can now be removed from the transmitter.

Insert the batteries into the battery compartment as shown in diagram B or C. Depending on the battery pack, you have to insert 2 or 3 batteries:

Connect the battery pack to the transmitter. The battery pack locks into place with an audible click.

Attaching and removing the accupack

Using the thumb and index finger of one hand, push the two catches on the transmitter as shown in diagram A on page 6. The accupack can now be removed from the transmitter.

Connect the accupack to the transmitter. The accupack locks into place with an audible click.

The BA 50/BA 250 accupack

The BA 50/BA 250 accupack has the following features:

3-step LC display for (remaining) battery capacity

Reliable Low Batt indication

Protection against total discharge

Provision of battery status information to the receiver

Protection against total discharge

Intelligent, 6-step display for (remaining) accupack capacity

Processor-controlled electronics takes self-discharge of rechargeable battery cells into account Low-Batt

9

Display indicates the maximum possible capacity after the accupack has been fully charged in the L 50 charger

Measurement of actual capacity and consideration of natural ageing

During operation, the percentage display decreases in correspondence to the remaining accupack capacity

Discharge the accupack from time to time

The capacity is calculated during a complete discharge cycle (between full charge and Low Batt indication).

Discharge the accupack from time to time during normal operation until the Low Batt indication lights up. The updated capacity is displayed after the next complete charge cycle.

10

Attaching the transmitter to clothing

The transmitter is attached to clothing (e.g. belt, waistband) with the supplied belt clip. The clip is detachable so that you can also attach the transmitter with the cable and the antenna pointing downwards.

Withdraw the clip from its fixing points and attach it the other way round.

In order to protect the transmit- ter against moisture, you can use the SK 50-T transmitter bag with Velcro fastener (see Accesso- ries on page 15).

11

Using the SK 3063-U transmitter

Switching the transmitter on

Attach the power pack to the transmitter.

To switch the transmitter on, set the on/off switch to ON. The red operation indicator lights up.

If the operation indicator does not light up, check the power pack.

Setting the channel or the frequency

The assignment of a switch position/channel to a frequency is listed on the type plate of the transmitter (see page 4).

To select a channel or a corresponding frequency, set the channel selector switch to the desired position.

12

Adjusting the sensitivity

The sensitivity switch allows you to adjust the gain of the microphone input in 8 steps. To provide for an accurate setting, use a receiver fitted with a deviation indicator when adjusting the sensitivity. The sensitivity is set correctly when the PEAK LED flashes brightly only during peak levels.

In practice, the following settings have proved their worth for adjusting the sensitivity:

Position Recommendation

1, 2 Loud voices, vocals, theater

3, 4, 5 Normal voices, talk shows, interviews

6, 7 Soft voices

8 Use only when a dynamic microphone is connected
