1. Safety 1.1. eleCtriCal Safety

Warning! It is the users responsibility to check the following: Check all electrical equipment and appliances to ensure that they are safe before using. Inspect power supply leads, plugs and all electrical connections for wear and damage. Sealey recommend that an RCd (Residual Current device) is used with all electrical products. You may obtain an RCd by contacting your local Sealey Stockist. If the product is used in the course of business duties, it must be maintained in a safe condition and routinely PAT (Portable Appliance Test) tested. electrical safety information, it is important that the following information is read and understood.

1.1.1. ensure that the insulation on all cables and on the appliance is safe before connecting it to the power supply. 1.1.2. Regularly inspect power supply cables and plugs for wear or damage and check all connections to ensure that they are secure. 1.1.3. important: Ensure that the voltage rating on the appliance suits the power supply to be used and that the plug is fitted with the

correct fuse - see fuse rating in these instructions. 8 do not pull or carry the appliance by the power cable. 8 do not pull the plug from the socket by the cable. 8 do not use worn or damaged cables, plugs or connectors. ensure that any faulty item is repaired or is

replaced immediately by a qualified electrician. 1.1.4. This product is fitted with a BS1363/A 13 Amp 3 pin plug. If the cable or plug is damaged during use, switch the electricity supply and remove from use. Ensure that repairs are carried out by a qualified electrician. Replace a damaged plug with a BS1363/A 13 Amp 3 pin plug. If in doubt contact a qualified electrician.

9 Familiarise yourself with the application, limitations and potential hazards of the soldering gun. 9 Replace or repair damaged parts. Use genuine parts only. Non-authorised parts may be dangerous and will invalidate the warranty. 9 locate soldering gun in a suitable working area, keep area clean and free from unrelated materials. ensure that there is adequate

lighting. 9 Keep the soldering gun clean for best and safest performance. 9 ensure there are no flammable or combustible materials near the work area. 9 Wear approved safety eye protection (standard spectacles are not adequate). 9 Wear appropriate protective clothing. 9 ensure the workpiece is adequately held before operating the soldering gun. 9 Always lay the soldering gun on its side so that the tip cannot make contact with the work surface. 9 Remove excess solder from the soldering gun by wiping the tip on a damp, natural sponge. 9 ensure that when the soldering gun is put down during use that the tip is not near to or in contact with any material that may burn or

melt including the products own supply lead. 8 do not attempt to remove excess solder from the soldering gun by shaking it as hot solder may become airborne and cause burns

and blisters. 8 do not allow children or pets into the area where the soldering is taking place. 8 do not attempt to cool the iron or gun with water. Warning! disconnect the soldering gun from the mains power and allow it to cool before changing tips. 8 do not operate the soldering gun when you are tired, under the influence of alcohol, drugs or intoxicating medication. 8 do not leave a hot soldering iron or gun unattended. (If you are leaving the work area even for a short period of time switch it off and

allow to cool.) 8 do not use the soldering gun for any purpose other than that for which it has been designed. 8 do not allow untrained persons to operate the soldering gun.

2. introduCtion Comprehensive soldering kit featuring a 30/100W dual powered pistol type soldering gun. Unit is fitted with a boost trigger function to increase temperature from 120C to 250C. Also fitted with an ergonomic handle, LED indicator light, 1.5mtr cable and BS approved plug. Supplied in rigid storage case with spare soldering tip, soldering wire, solder sucker and metal soldering stand.

4. operation 4.1. Assemble the soldering stand and clamp the work securely.

Warning. ensure that the soldering tip rests on a heat-proof surface. 4.2. To use the 30W setting, plug the gun into the mains supply without touching the trigger. The gun will heat up rapidly. 4.3. To use the 100W setting, press the trigger to boost the tip temperature. do not depress the trigger for more than 12 seconds, and

allow to rest for a minimum of 48 seconds before depressing again. 4.4. Wipe off excess solder and allow the gun to cool completely after use before storing in a cool, dry, childproof location.

4.5. uSing tHe Solder SuCKer. The solder sucker can be used where a joint has to be unsoldered or where excess solder has been deposited and needs to be reduced. 4.5.1. Prime the sucker by pushing the plunger down until it latches. Bring the soldering iron or gun to the joint and melt the solder. As

soon as the solder is liquid place the tip of the sucker into the solder or as close as possible and press the button on the body of the sucker.

The plunger will rise by spring action to produce a partial vacuum at the tip. Remove the sucker immediately to avoid being in contact with the hot tip of the soldering iron/gun. 4.5.2. Empty the excess solder from the body of the sucker by unscrewing the tip and tapping/shaking to dislodge the solder particles.

5. MaintenanCe 5.1. CHanging tipS After a prolonged period of service the tip may become pitted and need replacing. Wait till the gun is cool and isolate from the mains. loosen the cross headed screw from the barrel and remove the old tip (if the tip is stuck, prise out gently with pliers). Replace the tip and tighten the screw. 5.2. Avoid allowing solder to accumulate where the tip enters the iron as this may make the tip difficult to remove. do not allow solder

deposits to build up on the tip retaining screw as it may prevent a screwdriver fitting into the cross head. loosen the tip retaining screw periodically and rotate the tip in the gun to prevent it seizing into the body. Use a proprietary tip cleaner/tinner to keep the tip clean and tinned correctly
