About Endura and the Web Client The Endura system is a total system solution for network-based video security. Endura products control the origination, transport, recording, and display of integrated, security-related audio and video.

The Endura Web client delivers video streams and images through wide area network (WAN) and Internet networks.

Endura is a complete IP-based digital video solution from Pelco. It design is based on decentralized device architecture. To implement this architecture, Endura uses UPnP protocol to provide a user-friendly system. Further, Endura provides high quality digital images by utilizing high resolution, high frame rate video streams. These streams exceed the bandwidth capabilities of most connections to the Internet.

Together with Endura transcoder devices, the Endura Gateway provides robust, scalable Internet connectivity through low bandwidth network connections.

Public Network Interface

Figure 15. Public Network Interface Page

Use the Public Network Interface page to manage firewall traversal and to configure the gateway network connection to all non-Endura systems through another local area network (LAN), WAN, or an Internet network.

MANAGING THE FIREWALL The gateway on the GW5000 is designed to traverse firewalls automatically. You can test firewall traversal on the Public Network Interface setup page. If your site uses a firewall to maintain network security, you must configure port forwarding using your firewall software. Add the gateway IP address and the range of ports that starts with the Video Base Port after it is set up on the Public Network Interface Setup page. By adding these port numbers, the firewall will route the video streams so that users can view video properly.

Each video stream requires two ports for proper streaming. You must forward enough ports to handle the amount of video streams that you expect to support for your site. For example, if your site supports 32 video streams, you must forward 64 ports on your firewall. The default Video Base Port is 15000.

Each firewall software operates differently. Follow the instructions for your software to forward the ports properly.

Refer to the Endura GW5000 Gateway Installation manual (C2694M) for additional information.

MANUALLY FORWARDING PORTS ACROSS A FIREWALL Follow these steps to enable manual port forwarding:

1. From the Public Network Interface page, click the Start button to test automatic firewall traversal. A green Status box indicates that firewall traversal is in operation, and no further action is required.

2. If the Status box is red, select the Enable Manual Port Forwarding check box.
