Names and Functions of Parts The port replicator allows your peripheral devices to function exactly as if they were con- nected directly to the computer. (Refer to Description of Parts in the Operating Instruc- tions accompanying the computer.)

CAUTION Do not touch the expansion bus connector, pins or springs of the port replicator.

Rear

Connector for HDMI compatible digital display. It is not compatible with the analog display. The display specifications of the maximum resolution, etc. that can be output differ according to the specifications of the device connected. For details, refer to the specifications of the device connected.

Connect the external display compatible with analog interface.

A Kensington cable can be connected. For more information, read the manual that comes with the cable.

Connecting/Disconnecting

CAUTION Do not connect or disconnect the port replicator while the computer is powered on or in the sleep*1 or hibernation mode.

*1 Windows XP: standby

Connecting

1 Power off the computer, disconnect all cables from the computer, and close all connector covers.

2 Connect the plug of the AC adaptor that came with the computer to the DC-IN jack of the port replica- tor and plug the other end into an AC outlet.

CAUTION Refer to the Operating Instructions accompanying computer for information on proper handling of the AC adaptor and AC cord.

3 Slide the computer onto the port replicator, align the back of the computer with the rear of the port replicator, and then slowly lower the computer to connect the expansion bus connector.

CAUTION Do not connect the computer to a port replicator while the computer is connected to the AC adaptor or other cables.

Do not attempt to make connections if there is any object between the computer and the port replicator. Doing so could damage the computer and the port replicator.

4 Press the computer rmly against the port replicator. This will cause the expansion bus connector on the bottom of the computer to connect to the expansion bus connector of the port replicator.

CAUTION While connecting the computer to the port replicator:

Do not attempt to move the port replicator. Do not open the display wider than necessary (180 or more). It is impossible to remove the battery pack and the hard disk drive.

If the computer malfunctions while the port replicator is attached, disconnect the port replicator and check to see if the computer operates normally. If the computer operates normally, the port replicator may be malfunctioning. Contact your Technical Support.

Disconnecting

1 Power off the computer and close the display.

2 Slide the lever all the way back. The computer's connector disengages the expansion bus connector of the port replicator.

CAUTION After sliding the lever, do not suddenly release it. The lever may relock. Do not slide the lever while pressing against the computer from above. Doing so could damage the computer.

3 Lift up the computer to remove it from the port rep- licator.

Anschlieen/Entfernen

VORSICHT Verbinden oder trennen Sie den Portreplikator nicht, whrend der Computer einge- schaltet, im Modus energie sparen*1 oder im Ruhezustand ist.

Anschlieen

1 Schalten Sie den Computer aus und trennen Sie alle Kabel vom Computer, und schlieen Sie alle Anschlussabdeckungen.

2 Schlieen Sie das Netzteil, das mit dem Computer mitgeliefert wurde, an den Portreplikator an und stecken Sie den Stecker des Netzteils in die Steck- dose.

VORSICHT Siehe die Bedienungsanleitung des Computers zu Informationen zum richtigen Umgang mit dem Netzteil und dem Netzkabel

3 Schieben Sie den Computer auf Ihren Portreplikator, richten Sie die Rckseite des Computers auf die Hinten des Portreplikators aus, und setzen Sie den Computer dann vors icht ig auf den Erweiterungsbusanschluss.

VORSICHT Schlieen Sie den Computer nicht an einen Portreplikator an, whrend der Computer an ein Netzteil oder andere Kabel angeschlossen ist.

Versuchen Sie auf keinen Fall, die Anschlsse herzustellen, wenn die Abdeckung geschlossen ist oder sich irgendein Gegenstand zwischen Computer und Portreplikator be ndet. Anderenfalls knnen die Unterseite des Computers und der Portreplikator beschdigt werden.

VORSICHT Beim Anschlieen des Computers an der Portreplikator:

Versuchen Sie auf keinen Fall, den Portreplikator zu bewegen. ffnen Sie das Display nicht mehr als erforderlich (180 oder mehr). Es ist nicht mglich, das Akkupack und das Festplattenlaufwerk herauszunehmen.

Wenn whrend der Verbindung mit dem Portreplikator eine Strung des Computers auftritt, trennen Sie den Portreplikator und prfen Sie, ob der Computer nun normal arbeitet. Wenn der Computer normal arbeitet, liegt mglicherweise eine Fehlfunktion des Portreplikator vor. Wenden Sie sich an den zustndigen technischen Kundendienst.

Entfernen

1 Schalten Sie den Computer aus und schlieen Sie das Display.

2 Schieben Sie den Hebel bis zum Anschlag nach hinten. Erweiterungsbus-Anschlu des Computers wird vom Anschlu des Portreplikators getrennt.

VORSICHT Lassen Sie den Hebel nicht pltzlich los, nachdem Sie ihn verschoben haben. Er knnte sich nmlich wieder festsetzen.

Verschieben Sie den Hebel nicht, whrend Sie den Computer nach unten drcken. Andernfalls knnte der Computer beschdigt werden.

3 Heben Sie den Computer vom Portreplikator ab.

Connexion / Dconnexion

ATTENTION Ne connectez pas ni ne dconnectez le duplicateur de ports pendant que lordinateur est sous tension en veille*1 ou en veille prolonge.

Connexion

1 Eteignez lordinateur et dbranchez tous les cbles de lordinateur, et fermez tous les couvercles de connecteur.

2 Branchez l adapta teur sec teur fourni avec lordinateur au duplicateur de ports et raccordez lautre extrmit dans une prise secteur.

ATTENTION Consultez les Instructions dutilisation qui accompagnent lordinateur pour avoir plus dinformations sur lutilisation correcte de ladaptateur secteur and du cordon secteur.

3 Glissez lordinateur sur le duplicateur de ports, alignez la face arrire de lordinateur sur la face arrire du duplicateur de ports, puis abaissez lentement lordinateur pour raccorder le connecteur de bus dextension.

ATTENTION Ne raccordez pas lordinateur un duplicateur de ports alors que lordinateur est branch ladaptateur secteur ou tout autre cble.

Nessayez pas deffectuer les connexions sil y a un objet entre lordinateur et le duplicateur de ports. Ceci pourrait endommager lordinateur et le duplicateur de ports.

4 Poussez fermement lordinateur vers le duplicateur de ports. Cela fait se raccorder le connecteur de bus dextension sur le fond de lordinateur au connecteur de bus dextension du duplicateur de ports.

ATTENTION Pendant que vous connectez lordinateur au duplicateur de ports:

Nessayez pas de dplacer le duplicateur de ports. Nouvrez pas laf cheur plus que ncessaire (180 ou plus). Il est impossible de retirer le bloc-pile et le lecteur de disque dur.

Si lordinateur a des dysfonctionnements alors que le duplicateur de ports est branch, dbranchez le duplicateur de ports et vri er si lordinateur fonctionne normalement. Si lordinateur fonctionne normalement, les dysfonctionnements pourraient provenir du duplicateur de ports. Contactez votre service de support technique.

Dconnexion

1 Eteignez lordinateur et fermez laf cheur.

2 Faites glisser fond le levier vers larrire. Le con- necteur de lordinateur se dgage du connecteur de bus dextension du duplicateur de ports.

ATTENTION Aprs avoir fait glisser le levier, ne le relchez pas brusquement. Il pourrait se reverrouiller.

Ne faites pas glisser le levier en appuyant sur lordinateur. Cela pourrait endommager lordinateur.

3 Soulevez lordinateur pour le retirer du duplicateur de ports.
