Structure of the Long Life Filter Unit

Structure of the Long Life Filter Unit The Long Life Filter Unit is preassembled at the time of purchase. It is necessary to disassemble the Long Life Filter Unit while referring to the procedure in Attaching the long life filter cover (x page 10).

rComponents list Confirm that the following components are provided. Numbers enclosed in < > show the number of components.

Air filter unit <2> These components are attached to the long life filter cover. This will remove the dirt and dust from the external air.

Long life filter mount clasp <1> This component is attached to the projector body. This is the clasp to attach the long life filter cover.

Long life filter cover <1> The air filter unit is attached to this component. This is the clasp to attach to the projector.

Long life filter cover fixing screw <2>

(Knurled head screws)

These are the screws to mount the long life filter cover to the long life filter mount clasp.

Long life filter mount clasp fixing screw <1>

(M4 x 10)

This is the screw to attach the long life filter mount clasp to the projector body.

Attention f Store small parts in an appropriate manner, and keep them away from small children.

Attaching the Long Life Filter Unit

Attaching the Long Life Filter Unit The Long Life Filter Unit (Model No.: ETEMFU330) uses two of the same standard air filter unit attached to the projector. The interval to perform maintenance/replacement of filters is extended roughly two times by attaching the Long Life Filter Unit instead of the standard air filter unit attached to the projector. Purchase the Replacement Filter Unit (Model No.: ETEMF330) when replacing the air filter unit.

Attention f Make sure to turn off the power before removing the standard air filter unit attached to the projector and attaching the Long Life Filter Unit. Make sure to follow the procedure in Switching off the projector described in the Operating Instructions of the projector when turning off the power.

f Make sure that the projector is stable, and perform the maintenance in a safe place even if the filter falls accidentally.

Note f When the Long Life Filter Unit (Model No.: ETEMFU330) is attached, the eyebolts for installation work cannot be attached.

f All the projector illustrations in this manual are based on the PTRZ31K series.

Removing the air filter unit First, remove the standard air filter unit attached to the projector.

1) Turn off the power of the projector, and disconnect the power plug from the outlet. f Make sure to follow the procedure in Switching off the projector described in the Operating Instructions of the projector when turning off the power.

2) Remove the air filter cover. f Use a Phillips screwdriver to turn the air filter cover fixing screw counterclockwise until it turns freely (Fig. 1), and open the air filter cover for approximately 90, and then pull out in the direction of the arrow. (Fig. 2)

f Loosen the air filter cover fixing screw while holding the air filter cover with your hand.

3) Remove the drop-prevention string. f Remove the hook at the tip of the drop-prevention string attached to the air filter cover. (Fig. 3)

4) Pull out the air filter unit.

i) Pull out the air filter unit from the tabs on the projector body (c) while slightly pressing the grip on the air filter unit (a) inward as described with the arrow. (Fig. 4)

ii) Pull out the air filter unit. (Fig. 5) f When pulling out, confirm that the air filter unit comes off from the tabs on the projector body (d).

f After pulling out the air filter unit, remove large foreign objects and dust from the air filter unit compartment and the air intake port of the projector body if there are any.

f When the air filter unit is removed, proceed to Attaching the long life filter mount clasp (x page 8) next.

Attention f Take care not to touch the radiator fin, etc., when removing dirt or dust. f Store the removed air filter cover in a safe place.

Attaching the long life filter mount clasp Remove the long life filter mount clasp from the preassembled Long Life Filter Unit while referring to the procedure in Attaching the long life filter cover (x page 10). Attach the long life filter mount clasp in the area the standard air filter unit attached to the projector was removed.

Insertion hole Hook

1) Attach the hook of the drop-prevention string to the long life filter mount clasp. (Fig. 1) f Attach the hook on the tip of the drop-prevention string attached to the projector body to the long life filter mount clasp supplied with the Long Life Filter Unit at the position indicated in the figure.

2) Attach the long life filter mount clasp to the projector body. (Fig. 2) f Align the two hooks of the long life filter mount clasp to the position of the holes where the air filter cover was inserted, and slide it in the direction of the arrow.

3) Secure the long life filter mount clasp. (Fig. 3) f Securely fix with one long life filter mount clasp fixing screw (M4 x 10) supplied with the Long Life Filter Unit.

f When the long life filter mount clasp is attached, proceed to Attaching the air filter unit (x page 9) next.

1) Attach the two air filter units to the long life filter cover. (Fig. 1) f Attach the two air filter units supplied with the Long Life Filter Unit to the long life filter cover. The method to attach the two air filter units is the same.

f Align the position so that the grips on the air filter unit (a) and (b) will be outside the guides on the long life filter cover (e) and (f), and push in the direction of the arrow by holding the outer frame of the air filter unit. (Fig. 2)

f When the two air filter units are attached (Fig. 3), proceed to Attaching the long life filter cover (x page 10) next.

Note f Make sure that the air filter unit is properly attached before using the projector. If it is not attached, the projector will suck in dirt and dust causing a malfunction.

Attaching the long life filter cover Attach the long life filter cover with the air filters to the long life filter mount clasp on the projector body.

1) Attach the long life filter cover to the long life filter mount clasp. (Fig. 1) f Attach the long life filter cover (with the two air filter units attached) to the long life filter mount clasp on the projector body.

f The long life filter has no difference between top and bottom.

2) Secure the long life filter cover. (Fig. 2) f Securely fix with the two long life filter cover fixing screws (knurled head screws) supplied with the Long Life Filter Unit.

f When the long life filter cover is secured, proceed to Setting the filter (x page 10) next.

Setting the filter Set the type of filter, and then reset the filter runtime (counter numerical value).

1) Turn on the power of the projector.

2) Press the

button on the remote control or control panel. f The [MAIN MENU] screen is displayed.

3) Press as to select [PROJECTOR SETUP].

4) Press the button. f The [PROJECTOR SETUP] screen is displayed.

5) Press as to select [FILTER SETTING].

6) Press the button. f The [FILTER SETTING] screen is displayed.

7) Press as to select [FILTER TYPE].

8) Press qw to select [LONG LIFE].

9) Press as to select [FILTER COUNTER RESET], and press the button.

10) When the confirmation screen is displayed, press qw to select [OK], and press the button. f The [PROJECTOR SETUP] menu [STATUS] [FILTER COUNTER] is displayed as 0.

Attention f When use of the Long Life Filter Unit is finished and replaced with the standard air filter unit attached to the projector, make sure to reset the filter counter after setting the [PROJECTOR SETUP] menu [FILTER SETTING] [FILTER TYPE] to [NORMAL]. When the [PROJECTOR SETUP] menu [FILTER SETTING] [FILTER COUNTER RESET] is executed, the filter counter is reset.

Note f Continuing to use the projector with incorrect [FILTER TYPE] setting may cause failure of the projector.

f When the projector is used without resetting the filter counter, the actual filter runtime (counter numeric value) will not be able to be
