hlins shock absorber 46 HRCLB Your hlins shock absorber type 46 HRCLB features the following adjusters:

Compression damping adjuster Adjustments are made on top of the reservoir.

Rebound damping adjuster Adjuster wheel on the piston shaft above the end bracket.

Spring pre-load adjuster Adjustments are made by turning the screw on the hydraulic adjuster. Clockwise for harder adjustment, counter clockwise to release the pre-load.

Length adjuster Adjustment is made by turning the end eye and tightening with the lock nut.

NOTE! When delivered the hlins shock absorber is dialed to recommended settings for the specific brand and make of the vehicle. If you have changed the settings, check like this:

The adjusters have a normal right hand thread. Turn the damping adjusters clockwise to fully closed (pos. zero [0]). Turn counter clockwise to open and count the clicks until you reach the recommended number of clicks. See Setup data at last page.

CAUTION! Do not use too much force, delicate sealing sur- faces can be damaged.

WARNING! If the shock absorber has an ad- justable end eye/bracket, this must not be threaded out more than that one groove is fully vis- ible beneath the lock nut. Make sure that the lock nut is tight- ened after adjustment.

WARNING! 1. Its advisable to have an hlins dealer or other qualified person to fit your shock absorber. 2. Instructions in the vehicle service manual are to be followed when changing the shock absorber. 3. When working on a lifted vehicle it must be securely supported to prevent it from falling.

Mounting instructions

1 Put the motorcycle on a stand so the rear wheel is clear of the ground. The swing arm must be free, so the suspension is unloaded. Make sure its steadily fixed so it will not fall over.

2 Remove the seat.

3 Remove the hose clamp holding the external reservoir of the original shock absorber.

NOTE! If the screw of the hose clamp not is accessible the fuel tank has to be removed.

4 Loosen the shock absorber, first from the lower then from the upper bracket

5 Take the shock absorber out downwards and let the hose and reservoir follow.

6 Fit the hlins shock absorber in reverse order, first the upper attachment then the lower one.

7 Fit the reservoir to the cross member behind the shock absorber. Use hose clamps (643-01) and rubber mounts (230-03) provided.

NOTE! Make sure that the hose makes soft turns and not will bend or twist.

8 Refit the fuel tank (if necessary) and the seat.

NOTE! Make sure that all bolts are tightened to the correct torque and that nothing fouls or restricts movement of the shock
