INSTALLATION AND HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS

Thank you for purchasing the Mitsubishi Genuine Accessory. To install and use the product correctly with proper knowledge of it, read this publication carefully. Keep this publication for reference when maintenance is required.

This publication gives precautionary instructions in the boxes titled as follows. Read through these instructions thoroughly.

Describes precautions that should be observed in order to prevent injury or damage to the vehicle or its components, which may occur if sufficient care is not taken.

Provides additional information that facilitates installation work.

Failure to follow these instructions not only prevents the product from working properly but may lead to trou- ble with the vehicle. Be sure to follow all instructions carefully.

j COMPONENTS (Make sure that all of the following components were included in the kit.)

j PRECAUTIONS Perform work in a well-ventilated space. Keep away from flames. Be sure to apply the parking brake securely. Remove the ignition key from the key cylinder. This product is made of resin. Do not bend it forcibly and be careful not to scratch it. Adhesive tape loses much of its adhesion if the adhesive surface is touched by a dirty hand or glove, or if the

tape is removed after application. If the adhesion is reduced, replace the adhesive tape or the like, otherwise the product may fall off while driving or rainwater may leak.

Low ambient temperature (below 15C) greatly reduces the adhesion of adhesive tape and can cause it to peel off. Work in a warm place or warm the surface where the tape is to be applied as necessary.

The drawings in the Installation Procedures depict the installation of the left side part. Install the right side part in the same manner.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURES A. DRILLING HOLES ON THE FRONT

BUMPER 1) Remove the front bumper in accordance with the

workshop manual.

2) There are four 8 x 14 mm slots scribed on each side at the back of the front bumper ( in the drawing). Open these slots.

1. Drill two 3 mm base holes.

2. Drill two 8 mm holes.

3. Finish these holes to a 8 x 14 mm slot using a file.

3) There also are four 8 mm holes scribed on each side at the back of the front bumper ( in the drawing). Open these holes. Drill the 3 mm base hole and then drill the 8

mm hole.

4) Finish the drilled holes with a file.

B. INSTALLING THE FRONT BUMPER EXTENSION

1) Install the five bolts to the mounts at the back of the left front bumper extension .

2) Clean and degrease the front bumper extension mounting section on the front bumper using a shop towel dampened with isopropyl alcohol or degreaser.

3) Insert the bolts mounted at the back of the front bumper extension into the drilled holes on the front bumper as shown in the drawing, starting from the outermost 8 mm hole (marked ).

4) Lightly tighten the nuts at the back of the front bumper.

Never use organic solvent such as thin- ner, benzine, gasoline, etc.

Be careful not to scratch the bumper surface with the bolts.

If a bolt cannot be inserted into a slot, enlarge the slot using a file.

5) Lightly fit the lower side of the front bumper exten- sion with the bolts and nuts .

6) Position the front bumper extension so that there is no gap between the extension and the front bumper. Then tighten the nuts and bolts securely.

7) Reinstall the front bumper to the vehicle.

C. CHECKING AFTER INSTALLATION Check that the fasteners are fitted securely.

CARE AND HANDLING To clean the product, wipe with a soft material, such as sponge or chamois leather. Do not use any hard material for cleaning such as a scrubbing brush. It could scratch the surface. Do not use wax with compound. It could damage the surface. Take care to prevent contact with gasoline, kerosene, brake fluid, engine oil, grease, paint thinner, sulfuric

acid (battery electrolyte) and wax remover that could cause discoloration, staining and cracking. Should any of them contact the surface, remove the substance immediately by wiping with a soft cloth or chamois leather moistened with a mild detergent, then wash the s
