Safety First

For your continued safety and to reduce the risk of injury or electric shock, please follow all the safety precautions listed below.

Read all instructions carefully before using the telephone and keep them for future reference.

Retain the manual. If you pass the telephone onto a third party, make sure to include this manual.

Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the telephone.

Do not use the product near water for example near a bathtub, kitchen sink, etc.

Place the product securely on a stable surface. Serious damage and/ or injury may result if the product falls.

Do not cover slots and openings on the telephone. They are provided for ventilation and protection against overheating. Never place the telephone near radiators, or in place where proper ventilation is not provided.

Do not place objects on the telephone cable. Install the phone where no one can step or trip on the telephone cable.

To reduce the risk of injury or electric shock, do not disassemble the telephone. Incorrect reassembly can cause electric shock when the product is subsequently used.

During thunderstorms, avoid using telephones except cordless types. There may be a remote risk of an electric shock from lightning.

Do not use the telephone to report a gas leak, when in the vicinity of the leak.

Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the telephone.

The telephone is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instructions concerning the use of the phone by a person responsible of their safety.

Battery - To reduce the disk of injury to persons, read and follow these instructions.

Use only the battery(ies) specified. Do not dispose the battery(ies) in a fire. They may explode. Check with local council office for special disposal instructions not open or mutilate the battery(ies).

Released electrolyte from batteries is corrosive and may cause burns or injury to the eyes or skin. The electrolyte may be toxic if swallowed.

Exercise care when handling the battery(ies). Do not allow conductive materials such as rings, bracelets or keys to touch the battery(ies).

Otherwise a short circuit may cause the battery(ies) and/or the conductive material to overheat and cause burns.

Environment - Place the unit in a room where the temperature is between 0C and 40C. Allow 5cm clearance around the unit for proper ventilation.

Avoid excessive smoke, dust, mechanical vibration, shock, or direct sunlight.

Cleaning - Wipe the unit with a soft cloth. Do not use benzine, thinner, or any abrasive cleaners.

If there is no sound - Disconnect the unit from the telephone line and connect a known working phone. If the known phone does not operates or have sound, then it could be the phone line issues. Please contact your telephone company for assistance.

Moving your phone - Carefully pack your unit, preferably in the original packaging.

Disposal - Old units still have some residual value. An environmentally friendly method of disposal will ensure that valuable raw materials can be recovered and used again. Up to date information concerning options of disposing of your old unit and packaging from the new one can be obtained from your local council office.

Use only power supplies listed in the user instructions.

The base unit must be used only with the adapter supplied by Ten Pao Industrial Co., Ltd.: S002CB060030 / S003IB0600030.

For pluggable equipment, the socket-outlet (power adapter) shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.

Installing Your Phone

Use only the power pack provided for the charging cradle. Use only NiMH rechargeable batteries.

Connecting the Base Unit

1. Plug the mains adaptor & telephone line cable into the base unit.

2. Plug the mains adaptor & telephone line cord into the wall socket.

3. Always use the cables provided in the box.

Installing and Charging the Batteries 1. Slide open the battery compartment cover.

2. Place the two batteries as indicated. Follow the polarity indicated on the handset.

3. Slide the battery compartment cover back on.

4. Put the handset on the base unit to charge. Charge for 14 hours the first time you charge. A beep indicates that the handset is properly placed on the base unit.

Place the charging cradle within reach of a mains power wall socket.

1. Plug the mains power adaptor into the mains power wall socket.

2. Insert the 2 x AAA rechargeable batteries supplied, taking note of the + and - markings inside the battery compartment, then slide the battery compartment back on.

3. Place the handset on the charging cradle. You should let the batteries charge continuously for at least 14 hours.

Handling the Batteries Improper or incorrect use of batteries may cause corrosion or

battery leakage, which could cause personal injury or damage to property.

Install the batteries correctly by following the polarity (+ and -) indications in the battery compartment.

Use only the types of the batteries which are indicated in this manual.

Do not install new batteries with used ones and do not mix different types of batteries.

Do not dispose of the used batteries as domestic waste. Dispose of them in accordance with local regulations.

The display will show the time and the handset number, e.g. 2, to show it is registered to the base.

Your phone is now set up to make and receive calls.

Base Unit Overview

2. PAGE Press the button on the base unit to page your handset. It will ring for approximately 60 seconds.

Display Icons and Symbols

Illuminates when the handset is within range of the base unit. Flashes when the handset is in marginal range of the base unit. Off when out of range or cannot communicate with the base unit.

Illuminates when a call is in progress. Flashes when there is an incoming call. Off when handset is on hook.

On when the speakerphone is turned on. Off when speakerphone is off.

On when new call received. Off when no new call.

Illuminates when an intercom call is connected successfully. Flashes when there is an incoming internal call or when an internal call is put on hold. Off when the intercom call goes on hook.

On when the ringer is switched off. Off when ringer is turned on.

Off when alarm is turned off.

On when the keypad is locked. Off when the keypad is unlocked.

On when there is new voice message not yet read. Off when all the voice messages have been read.

Using Your Phone

To Make a Call

Preparatory Dialing Enter the phone number and press the button to dial the number, press it again to turn on the speakerphone. Press the button to clear the entry.

Direct Dialing Press the button to take the line and enter the phone number. Press it again to turn on the speakerphone.

Call from the Contacts Press the button to access the contacts list and select the desired phonebook entry. Press the button to dial out to the selected entry, press it again to turn on the speakerphone.

Call from the Call Log Press the button to access the call log and press the or button to select the desired call log entry. Press the button to dial out to the selected call log entry, press it again to turn on the speakerphone. Alternatively, press the button to access the call log from the main menu.

Call from the Redial List Press the button to access the redial list and press the or button to select the desired redial number. Press the button to dial out to the selected redial number, press it again to turn on the speakerphone.

Call Timer Your handset automatically times the duration of every call. The call timer will display a few seconds after the call has made. It is shown in hours, minutes and seconds format (HH:MM:SS).

To Make a Call from Direct Access Memory 1. In idle, press and hold the / / button to dial the number

you have stored already. Or press the button, and then press and hold the / / button to dial the number you have stored.

2. You need to set the direct access number first.

The audio boost feature will be turned off automatically when the call has ended.

To Answer a Call 1. If the handset is not on the base unit or charging cradle:

When the phone rings, press the button to answer a call, press it again to turn on the speakerphone.

2. If the handset is on the charging cradle or the base unit and if AUTO ANS is set to ON: when the phone rings, pick up the handset to answer a call.

Audio Boost Feature The audio boost feature allows you to amplify the handset earpiece volume to compensate for the ears limited sensitivity.

1. To turn on the audio boost feature, press the button at any time during a call. The handset LED illuminates.

2. When the audio boost feature is activated, press the button to increase or decrease the earpiece volume.

3. To turn off the audio boost feature and return the earpiece volume back to normal, press the button again and the handset LED turns off.

If no number is stored, you will hear a double beep tone.

To End a Call During a call connection, press the button to end the call. Put the handset on the base unit or charging cradle to end the call.

Adjust Earpiece and Handsfree Volume There are 5 levels (VOLUME 1 to VOLUME 5) to choose from for both handset and handsfree speakerphone use.

During a call:

1. Press the button to select volume 1-5. The current setting is displayed on the screen.

2. When you end the call, the setting will remain at the last selected level.

Mute a Call Allows you to talk to someone nearby without letting the caller hear you during a call. During a call:

1. Press the button to mute the microphone and MUTED will display on the screen. Your caller cannot hear you.

2. Press the button again to unmute the microphone.

Set the Silent Mode 1. In idle mode, press and hold the button to turn off the handset

ringer. The icon is displayed on the screen.

2. In silent mode, press and hold the button to turn on the handset ringer. The icon will disappear.

Turn on the Keypad Lock 1. In idle mode, press and hold the button to turn on the keypad

lock. The icon is displayed on the screen.

2. In keypad lock mode, press and hold the button to turn off the keypad lock. The icon will disappear.

Redial the last number You can redial up to 5 of the last numbers called. If you have stored a name in the phonebook to go with the number, the name will be displayed instead. The most recent last number will display at the top of the redial list.

If there are no numbers in the redial list, the display shows EMPTY.

Redial a Number from the Redial List 1. In idle mode, press the button to access the redial list.

2. Press the or button to browse the redial list.

3. Press the button to dial to the selected redial number.

Store a Redial Number into the Phonebook 1. In idle mode, press the button to access the redial list.

2. Press the or button to browse the redial list.

3. Press the button and the or button to select STORE.

4. Press the button to enter the name.

5. Press the button to store the redial number into the phonebook.

6. Press the button to select phonebook melody.

7. Press the or button to browse the melody list. The respective melody will be played when browsing the melody list.

8. Press the button to confirm.

Delete a Redial Number 1. In idle mode, press the button to access the redial list.

2. Press the or button to browse the redial list.

3. Press the button and the or button to select DELETE.

4. Press the button to confirm.

Delete the Entire Redial List 1. In idle mode, press the button to access the redial list.

2. Press the or button to browse the redial list.

3. Press the button and the or button to select DEL ALL.

4. Press the button to confirm.

5. Press the button to confirm again.

Find the Handset You can locate the handset by pressing the button on the base unit. All the handsets registered to the base unit will produce the paging tone and PAGING is displayed on the screen. You can stop the paging by pressing the button / button / button on any handset or the button on the base unit again.

If there is an incoming call during paging, the phone will ring with the incoming call instead of paging.

If only one handset is registered to the base unit, pressing the button will display FAILED.

If two handsets are registered to the base unit, pressing the button will connect to another handset immediately.

Make an Internal Call This feature is only applicable when there are at least two registered handsets. It allows you to make internal calls, transfer external calls from one handset to another handset and make conference calls. If the called handset is not answered within 60 seconds, the called handset will stop ringing and the calling handset will return to standby mode.

Intercom Another Handset 1. In idle mode, press the button and the registered handsets

will display on the screen except the calling handset.

2. Enter the desired handset number to intercom with.

3. The called handset rings. Press the button on the called handset to establish the internal call.

Call All Handsets 1. In idle mode, press the and the registered handsets will

display.

2. Press the button to ring to all registered handsets.

Transfer an External Call to another handset During an external call:

1. Press the button and the or button to select INTERCOM.

2. Press the button to select the desired handset to intercom with.

3. The external call is put on hold automatically and the called handset rings.

4. Press the button on the called handset to establish an internal call.

5. Press the button on the calling handset or put the calling handset on the charging cradle to end the current call with the external party.

6. The external call is transferred to the called handset.

Make a 3-way Conference Call The conference call feature allows one external call to be shared with two handsets (in intercom). The three parties can share the conversation and no network subscription is required.

During an external call:

1. Press the button and the or button to select INTERCOM.

2. Press the button to select the desired handset to intercom with.

3. The external call is put on hold automatically and the called handset rings.

4. Press the button on the called handset to establish an internal call.

5. Press and hold the button on the calling handset to establish the conference call.

Any handset that hangs up during a conference call will leave the other handset still in connection with the external call.

Private Phonebook

Your phone can store up to 20 private phonebook entries with names and numbers. Each phonebook entry can have a maximum of 20 digits for the phone number and 12 characters for the name. You can also select different ringtones for your phonebook entries. Phonebook entries are stored alphabetically by name.

Add a New Phonebook Entry 1. Press the button to select CONTACTS main menu item and

then press the button to access the contacts list.

2. Press the button to select ADD.

3. Press the button to enter the name.

4. Press the button to enter the number.

5. Press the button and the or button to select the desired ringtone for your phonebook entry.

6. Press the button to store the phonebook entry.

Search a Phonebook Entry In idle: 1. Enter the contacts list.

2. Enter the first character of the name by multi-tap.

View a Phonebook Entry In idle: 1. Press the button to select CONTACTS main menu item and

then press the button to access the contacts list.

2. Press the or button to select the desired contact entry.

3. Press the button and the or button to select VIEW.

4. Press the button and the or button to review the name, number and melody of the selected phonebook entry.

If the number has more than 12 digits, press the or button to view the remaining digits.

Edit a Phonebook Entry In idle: 1. Press the button to select CONTACTS main menu item and

then press the button to access the contacts list.

2. Press the or button to select the desired phonebook entry.

3. Press the button and the or button to select EDIT.

4. Press the button and the current contents of the selected phonebook entry is displayed.

5. Edit the name and press the button

6. Edit the number and press the button

7. Press the or button to select the ringtone and press the button to confirm.

Delete a Phonebook Entry In idle: 1. Press the button to select CONTACTS main menu item and

then press the button to access the contacts list.

2. Press the or button to select the desired phonebook entry.

3. Press the button and the or button to select DELETE.

4. Press the button to confirm.

Delete the Entire Private Phonebook 1. Press the button to select CONTACTS main menu item and

then press the button to access the contacts list.

2. Press the button and the or button to select DEL ALL.

3. Press the button to confirm.

4. Press the button to re-confirm.

Check the Phonebook Usage You can check how many phonebook entries are in your phone and how many phonebook entries are available for you to store in the phonebook.

1. Press the button to select CONTACTS main menu item and then press the button to access the contacts list.

2. Press the button and the or button to select CAPACITY.

3. Press the button to confirm.

Set the Fast Dial Numbers After setting the fast dial numbers, you can dial to the pre-set numbers by pressing and holding the respective digit buttons from idle mode.

Add or Edit the Fast Dial Number 1. Press the button to select CONTACTS main menu item and

then press the button to access the contacts list.

2. Press the button and the or button to select FASTDIAL.

3. Press the or button and the button to select one digit button from 2 to 9.

If there is no number stored in the selected button:

4. Press the or button to select an entry from the contacts list.

5. Press the button to confirm.

If there is already a number stored in the selected button:

4. Press the button to select EDIT.

5. Press the button to select an entry from the contacts list.

6. Press the button to confirm.

Delete the Fast Dial Number 1. Press the button to select CONTACTS main menu item and

then press the button to access the contacts list.

2. Press the button and the or button to select FASTDIAL.

3. Press the or button and the button to select one digit button from 2 to 9.

4. Press the or button to select an entry from the contacts list.

5. Press the button and the or button to select DELETE.

6. Press the button to confirm.

Caller Display (Network Dependent)

This feature is available if you have subscribed the Caller Line Identification Service with your network service provider. Your phone can store up to 10 received calls with date/time information in the call log. The number will be shown on the screen when the phone is ringing. If the number matches with one of the entries in your Private Phonebook, the callers name stored in the private phonebook will be displayed alternatively with the number. The handset will ring with the melody associated with that phonebook entry.

If the caller number is disabled to send caller information, WITHHELD will display.

In standby, if three unanswered calls are received, 3 CALLS will be displayed.

View the Call List All received calls are saved in call log with the latest call at the top of the list. When the call list is full, the oldest call will be replaced by a new call. The unanswered call which has not been read is marked with a icon at the centre of the bottom line of the display.

1. Press the button to select CONTACTS main menu item and then press the button to access the contacts list. Or press the

button and the or button to select CALL LOG.

2. Press the or button to select the desired entry.

3. Press the button to view the callers number if applicable.

Store a Call List Number into the Phonebook 1. Press the button to select CONTACTS main menu item and

then press the button to access the contacts list. Or press the button and the or button to select CALL LOG.

2. Press the the or button to select the desired entry.

3. Press the button and the or button to select STORE.

4. Press the button to enter the name.

5. Press the button and the selected call list number is displayed.

6. Edit the number if necessary.

Delete an Entry in the Call Log 1. Press the button to select CONTACTS main menu item and

then press the button to access the contacts list. Or press the button and the or button to select CALL LOG.

Delete the Entire List of the Call Log 1. Press the button to select CONTACTS main menu item and

then press the button to access the contacts list. Or press the button and the or button to select CALL LOG.

2. Press the button and the or button to select DEL ALL.

3. Press the button to confirm.

4. Press the button to re-confirm.

View the Details of the Call List Entry 1. Press the button to select CONTACTS main menu item and

then press the button to access the contacts list. Or press the button and the or button to select CALL LOG.

2. Press the button and the or button to select DETAILS.

3. Press the button to display the date and time of the selected call list entry.

4. Press the button to go back to the previous screen.

Voice Mail (Network Dependent)

Voice Mail Waiting Indication (VMWI) indicates that a new voice mail message is waiting for you on the network service provider. This feature is available if you have subscribed to the voicemail service from you network service provider. You can press and hold the button to dial out to the voice mail number directly to listen to your voice mail messages.

Access Voice Mail Messages icon will display and the VMWI entry is stored in the CALL LOG

when you have a new message in your voice mailbox.

1. Press the button and the or button to select CALL LOG. Or press the button in idle mode to access the call log.

2. Press the or button to select the desired VMWI entry.

3. Press the button to dial out to the voice mail server.

If a more recent VMWI entry is received from the same network server number of an existing VMWI entry, the new VMWI will not be stored but the date/time of the VMWI will be updated on the existing VMWI entry. After you have accessed to all new voice mail messages, VMWI will turn off automatically. When the call log is full, the new VMWI entry will replace the oldest non-VMWI entry in the call log.

Delete VMWI Entries To delete a single VMWI entry from the call list:

1. Press the button and the or button to select CALL LOG. Or press the button in idle mode to access the call log.

2. Press the or button to select the desired VMWI entry.

Your phone comes with a selection of settings that you can change to personalize your phone the way you like it to work.

Clock Settings You will need to set the correct time and date so that you know when you have received call list entries.

Change the Date Format 1. Press the button and the or button to select CLOCK.

3. Press the or button to select your desired date format (DDMMYY or MMDDYY).

Alarm Settings You can use this phone as an alarm clock. When an alarm is set, the

icon displays on the screen. When the alarm time is reached, the icon and ALARM ON flash on the screen ringing with the alarm

melody for a duration of 45 seconds. You can press any button to disable the alarm. If snooze function is activated, the alarm will sound again at the end of the snooze period of 7 minutes.

Button press is still applicable if handset keypad is locked and when the alarm time is reached.

The alarm volume level is the same as the settings of the handset ringer volume. If the handset ringer is set to OFF, the alarm still sounds at VOLUME 1 level.

During an external call or internal call, if an alarm is set and the alarm time has been reached, the icon and ALARM ON will still flash. An alarm tone will be emitted from the earpiece to notify user that the alarm time has been reached. Once user press any button or press and hold the button to disable the alarm, it will revert to the call duration screen.

During paging or ringing, the alarm will not sound even if the alarm time has been reached. However, if snooze function is enabled, the alarm will sound again at the end of the snooze period provided that its not ringing or in paging mode at the end of the snooze period.

De-register a Handset You are requested to enter the 4-digit PIN in order to de-register a handset from the base unit (Default PIN: 0000). The antenna icon on the de-registered handset will be off.

Registration Your handset and base unit is pre-registered. Up to five handsets can be registered to a single base unit.

If for some reason, the handset is not registered to the base unit ( icon flashes even when the handset is near the base unit), register your handset according to the following procedure.

2. Press the button and the or button to select REGISTER.

3. Press the button and you are requested to enter the 4-digit system PIN.

4. Enter the 4-digit system PIN.

If the handset registration is successful, you will hear a confirmation tone and the icon will stop flashing. The handset will automatically be allocated the next available handset number. This handset number is shown in the handset display in standby mode. If the handset registration is unsuccessful, the will still flash.

If the new PIN entered in Step 6 does not match the new system PIN entered in Step 5, you will be asked to enter the valid system PIN again in Step 5.

Change the System PIN Code A 4-digit system PIN code is used for changing the system settings of the base unit. It is used to protect your phone against unauthorized use. The default system PIN code is 0000.

3. Press the button and you are requested to enter the 4-digit system PIN.

Text and Digit Entry Table The following tables show you where each letter and punctuation character can be found. Respective character table will be used when corresponding menu language is selected. This will be helpful when storing a name in the contacts and renaming your handset.
