Safety Warnings Ventilation To prevent the risk of electric shock or fire hazard

due to overheating, ensure that curtains and other materials do not obstruct the ventilation vents.

Do not install or place this unit in a bookcase, built-in cabinet or in another confined space. Ensure the unit is well ventilated.

Safety Always disconnect the unit from the mains

supply before connecting / disconnecting other devices or moving the unit.

Unplug the unit from the mains socket during a lightning storm.

In the interests of safety and to avoid unnecessary energy consumption, never leave the unit switched on while unattended for long periods of time, e.g. overnight, while on holiday or while out of the house. Switch it off and disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket.

Mains Cable Make sure the unit or unit stand is not resting

on top of the mains cable, as the weight of the unit may damage the mains cable and create a safety hazard.

If the mains cable is damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

Interference Do not place the unit on or near appliances

which may cause electromagnetic interference. If you do, it may adversely affect the working of the unit, and cause a distorted sound.

Earphones Listening to loud sounds for prolonged

periods of time may permanently damage your hearing.

Before putting on earphones, turn the volume down then put the earphones on and slowly increase the volume until you reach a comfortable listening level.

Read all the instructions carefully before using the unit and keep them for future reference.

Damage Please inspect the unit for damage after

unpacking. Do not continue to operate the unit if you are

in any doubt about it working normally, or if it is damaged in any way - switch off, unplug from the mains socket and consult your dealer.

Location of Unit The unit must be placed on a flat stable surface

and not subjected to vibrations. Do not place the unit on sloped or unstable

surfaces as the unit may fall off or tip over. The mains socket must be located near the unit

and should be easily accessible.

Temperature Avoid extreme degrees of temperature, either

hot or cold. Place the unit well away from heat sources such as radiators or gas / electric fires.

Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and other sources of heat.

Naked Flames Never place any type of candle or naked flame

on the top of or near the unit.

Moisture To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or

product damage, do not expose this unit to rain, moisture, dripping or splashing. No objects filled with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on the unit.

If you spill any liquid into the unit, it can cause serious damage. Switch it off at the mains immediately. Withdraw the mains plug and consult your dealer.

Batteries Batteries used in the unit are easily swallowed by

young children and this is dangerous. Keep loose batteries away from young children

and make sure that the battery holder tray is secure in the unit. Seek medical advice if you believe a cell has been swallowed.

Please dispose of batteries correctly by following the guidance in this manual.

Supervision Children should be supervised to ensure that

they do not play with the unit. Never let anyone especially children push

anything into the holes, slots or any other openings in the case - this could result in a fatal electric shock.

Class 1 Laser Product This unit utilises a laser. Use

of controls, adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure.

Before moving the unit, ensure the disc tray is empty.

Always remove the disc when the unit is not in use. Failure to do so will risk severely damaging the disc and the unit.

Do not stack devices, heat from other devices may affect the performance of the unit.

Power Source

Mains Power Check that the voltage marked on the rating label matches your mains voltage. Connect the mains cable to the back of the unit then plug into a mains socket.

Battery Power Alternatively, insert 8 x UM-2 size batteries (not included) correctly by following the polarity (+ and ) indications in the battery compartment.

Handling the Batteries Improper or incorrect use of batteries may cause corrosion or battery leakage,

which could cause fire, personal injury or damage to property. When the batteries are exhausted, the appliance will not function. Replace both

batteries at the same time with new ones. Use only the types of batteries indicated in this manual. Do not install new batteries with used ones and do not mix different types of

batteries. Do not dispose of used batteries as domestic waste. Dispose of them in accordance

with local regulations. Remove batteries from the unit if you do not plan to use it for a long period of time,

otherwise the batteries may leak.

Using Earphones

Turn down the volume before connecting the earphones. Slowly raise the volume with the earphones on until you reach your desired volume. When earphones are connected, the speaker is automatically disabled.

USB Connection

The USB port are located on the front of the unit. Use a USB device to insert into the slot.

Long-term exposure to loud music may cause hearing damage. It is best to avoid extreme volume when using earphones, especially for extended periods.

Radio Operation

Set the FUNCTION selector to FM mode.

Auto Scan 1. To activate auto scan, press the AUTO SCAN button to perform a quick scan. The

display will show P# . This may take a few minutes, depending on the number of stations found.

2. All the stations that have been found will be stored automatically. To explore the found stations, press the MEMORY button and then press the SKIP+/SKIP buttons to select your desired preset station number.

The search may not stop at a station with a very weak signal.

Audio Mode Press the STOP / FM MONO / FM STEREO button repeatedly to switch between AUTO or MONO modes.

For Better Reception Fully unwind the aerial. Extend the aerial and place it in the position that offers the best sound reception.

The unit will automatically switch between stereo and mono mode when it is set in FM mode, but you can override this and switch between them manually. This is helpful when signal reception is poor.

The stored stations will be saved into the memory and power off will not erase it. Storing a new station into a preset location will erase the previously stored station in that location.

With FM radio it may be necessary to fine tune each station by pressing SKIP+/SKIP repeatedly. Each press will adjust the frequency by 0.05MHz. If reception is still poor adjust the position of the aerial or try moving the radio to another location.

Presetting Stations You can store up to 30 of your favourite stations in the memory. This will enable you to access your favourite stations quickly and easily.

3. To store a preset, you must first be listening to the station that you would like to save, then press and hold the MEMORY button and the display will flash P#and MEMORY.

4. Press the SKIP+/SKIP buttons repeatedly to select your desired preset station number.

5. Press the MEMORY button to confirm the selection.

Recalling a Preset Stations 1. Once you have saved a station to one of the preset buttons, you can recall it by

pressing MEMORY.

2. Press the SKIP+/SKIP buttons to select your desired preset station number.

Manual Scan Press SKIP+/SKIP repeatedly until your desired frequency is reached.

4. The unit will automatically read the disc and display the following information:

For CDs, the display will show the total number of tracks.

For MP3 discs, the display will 1st show the total number of folders, then the total number of tracks.

PLAY / PAUSE Press to start playing track.

Press again to stop playing track temporarily.

Press again to resume playback.

SKIP+ and SKIP- Press to go to the next track or back to the previous track.

Press and hold while playing until you find the place on the track you want.

For MP3 discs, press the FOLDER UP or FOLDER DN./RESTART buttons repeatedly to select a folder, then press the SKIP+ or SKIPbuttons to select a file you want to play.

STOP Press to stop playback.

CD/MP3 Operation

Playback 1. Set the FUNCTION selector to CD/MP3/USB

mode.

2. Open the CD cover by pressing the right bottom corner and place a CD with the label side facing up.

3. Close the CD cover and press the covers bottom right corner till you hear a click.

If no disc, the display will show USb. If CD cover is not closed, the display will

show OP. If disc is loading, the display will show

- - - .

Repeat 1. Press the MODE button repeatedly to select a play mode:

repeat: repeat the single track.

repeat all: repeat the whole disc.

album: repeat the selected folder

random: play tracks randomly.

2. To return to normal play, press the MODE button repeatedly until play mode icons are no longer displayed.

1. Press the MEMORY button, The MEMORY and P01 indicator will flash on the display.

For MP3/USB tracks, press the MEMORY button repeatedly to select an album, then press the FOLDER UP or FOLDER DN./RESTART buttons to select a folder you want.

2. Select desired track by using the SKIP+ or SKIP- button.

3. Press the MEMORY button again to confirm desired track into the programme memory.

Programme

Up to 20 tracks (in CD mode) or 99 tracks (in MP3 or USB mode) can be programmed for disc play in any order.

Be sure to press the STOP button before use.

When the memory is full, MEMORY and FUL will flash on the display.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to enter additional tracks into the programme memory.

5. When all the desired tracks have been programmed, press the PLAY/PAUSE button to play the disc in the order you have programmed the tracks. The

MEMORY indicator will flash.

6. Press the STOP button to terminate programmed play and the MEMORY indicator will disappear.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Unit

To clean the unit, wipe the case with a slightly moist, lint-free cloth.

Do not use any cleaning fluids containing alcohol, ammonia or abrasives.

Do not spray aerosol at or near the unit.

Handling Discs Do not touch the playback side of the disc.

Do not attach paper or tape to the disc.

Cleaning Discs Fingerprints and dust on the disc cause picture and sound deterioration. Wipe the

disc from the centre outwards with a soft cloth. Always keep the disc clean.

Playback side

If you cannot wipe off the dust with a soft cloth, wipe the disc lightly with a slightly moistened soft cloth and finish with a dry cloth.

Do not use any type of solvent such as thinner, benzine, commercially available cleaners or antistatic spray. They may damage the disc.

Storing Discs Do not store discs in places subjected to direct sunlight or near heat sources.

Do not store discs in places subjected to moisture and dust such as a bathroom or near a humidifier.

Storing discs vertically in a case, stacking discs or placing objects on discs outside of their cases may cause warping.

Ensure the unit is fully unplugged from the mains socket before cleaning.

Hints and Tips

If a problem does occur, it may often be due to something very minor. The following table contains various tips.

Problem Cause / Solution

No power supply. Check that the mains cable is correctly connected to the mains socket and the unit.

No sound from the speakers. Check if the VOLUME control is set to minimum. The system may be in pause mode. Press the PLAY/

PAUSE button to resume normal playback.

Poor FM reception. Make sure FM aerial wire is fully extended. Electrical interference in your home can cause

poor reception. Move the unit away from them (especially those with motors and transformers).

The CD compartment cannot be closed.

The disc is not correctly positioned in its compartment.

CD does not play. The disc is dirty. The disc is placed upside down. The PAUSE function is on. Press the PLAY/PAUSE

button to resume playback.

Audio distortions or no audio during CD playback.

The surface of the disc is dirty or scratched.

The Portable CD Stereo does not function properly while using battery.

Batteries are dead. Replace with new batteries. The polarities of the batteries are inserted in

reverse. Insert them properly.

File from media storage device does not play.

Check the file format. This product only support MP3 format.

If any anomaly occurs, switch the FUNCTION selector to the OFF position, and then switch it back to CD/MP3/USB or FM positions again.

If the unit is not used for 30 minutes or more, it will automatically enter STANDBY mode. Press the FOLDER DN . / RESTART button to resume use.
