For models using an adapter

Only use the AC adapter supplied with this device. Do not use a power supply from another device or another manufacturer. Using any other power cable or power supply may cause damage to the device and void your warranty.

The Power Plug is the disconnecting device. In case of an emergency, the Power Plug must remain readily accessible.

This device is equipped with a portable battery or accumulator.

Safety way to remove the battery from the equipment: Remove the old battery or battery pack, follow the steps in reverse order than the assembly. To prevent contamination of the environment and bring on possible threat to human and animal health, the old battery or the battery put it in the appropriate container at designated collection points. Do not dispose of batteries or battery together with other waste. It is recommended that you use local, free reimbursement systems batteries and accumulators. The battery should not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.

LG Sound Sync Controls volume level of this unit by the remote control of your LG TV that is compatible with LG Sound Sync.

Remote control

Replacement of Battery Remove the battery cover on the rear of the Remote Control, and insert two R03 (size AAA) batteries with and matched correctly.

1 (Power) : Switches the unit ON or OFF. / Switches to the standby mode.

FUNC : Selects the function and the input source.

(Mute) : Mutes the sound.

OPTICAL : Changes input source to OPTICAL directly.

SOUND EFFECT : Selects a sound effect mode.

WOOFER LEVEL : Sets the sound level of woofer.

VOL o/p : Adjusts speaker volume.

REPEAT : Listen to your music repeatedly.

C/V (Skip) : Skips Fast backward or Forward.

dM (Play/Pause) : Starts playback. / Pauses playback.

(Shuffle) : Shuffles the music on the list.

You can use these playback buttons after play music by Music Flow Player App or PC software.

Installing the sound bar You can hear the sound by connecting the unit to the other device : TV, Blu-ray disc player, DVD player, etc.

Place the unit in front of the TV and connect it to the device you want. (Refer to pp. 14 - 19.)

You can place the wireless subwoofer anywhere in your room. But it is better to place the subwoofer near the main unit. Turn it slightly toward the center of the room to reduce the wall reflections.

y For best performance of wireless connection such as Bluetooth or wireless subwoofer, do not install the unit on Metallic furniture because wireless connection communicates through a module positioned on the bottom of the unit.

y Be careful not to make scratches on the surface of the Unit /Sub-Woofer when installing or moving them.

>Caution

Mounting the main unit on a wall You can mount the main unit on a wall.

Because it is difficult to make a connection after installing this unit, you should connect the cables before installation.

1. Match the TVs BOTTOM EDGE of Wall bracket install guide with the bottom of TV and attach to the position.

2. When you mount it on a wall (concrete), use the wall plugs. You should drill some holes. A guide sheet (Wall bracket install guide) is supplied to drill. Use the sheet to check the point to drill.

3. Remove the Wall bracket install guide.

4. Fix the brackets with screws (A) as shown in the illustration below.

Screws (A) and Wall Plugs are not supplied for mounting the unit. We recommend the Hilti (HUD-1 6 x 30) for the mounting.

5. Put the unit on the brackets to match screw holes on the bottom of the unit.

6. Fix the unit with the screws firmly.

To detach the unit, perform it in reverse order. , Note

y Do not install this unit upside down. It can damage the parts of this unit or be the cause of personal injury.

y Do not hang onto the installed unit and avoid any impact to the unit.

y Secure the unit firmly to the wall so that it does not fall off. If the unit falls off, it may result in an injury or damage to the product.

y When the unit is installed on a wall, please make sure that a child does not pull any of connecting cables, as it may cause it to fall.

Connecting the AC Adapter Connect the speaker to the power supply with the supplied AC adapter.

1. Connect the supplied AC power cord to the AC adapter.

2. Connect the AC adapter cable to DC. IN adapter input.

3. Plug the AC power cord into an AC outlet.

Only use the AC adapter supplied with this device. Do not use a power supply from another device or manufacturer. Using any other power cable or power supply may cause damage to the device and void your warranty.

Setting up the wireless subwoofer for the first time

1. Connect the power cord of the wireless subwoofer to the outlet.

2. Turn on the main unit : The main unit and wireless subwoofer will be automatically connected.

Manually pairing wireless subwoofer When your connection is not completed, you can see the red LED or the blinking of green LED on the wireless subwoofer and the subwoofer does not make sound. To solve the problem, follow the below steps.

1. Adjust volume level of the main unit to minimum. - VOL MIN appears on the display window.

2. Press and hold (Mute) on the remote control for about 3 seconds. - WL RESET appears on the display window

3. If the LED of the wireless subwoofer already blinks in green continually, you can skip this step.

Press and hold PAIRING on the back of the wireless subwoofer for more than 5 seconds.

- The LED of the wireless subwoofer lights up alternately in red and green.

4. Disconnect the power cord of the main unit and the wireless subwoofer.

5. Connect them again after the LED of the main unit and the wireless subwoofer is fully turned off.

The main unit and the wireless subwoofer will be paired automatically when you turn on the main unit. - When the connection is completed, you can

see the green LED on the subwoofer.

y It takes a few seconds (and may take longer) for the main unit and the subwoofer to communicate with each other and make sounds.

y The closer the main unit and the subwoofer, the better sound quality. It is recommended to install the main unit and the subwoofer as close as possible and avoid the cases below.

- There is a obstacle between the main unit and the subwoofer.

- There is a device using same frequency with this wireless connection such as a medical equipment, a microwave or a wireless LAN device.

Connecting to your TV Please connect with this unit and TV using the optical digital cable or HDMI cable considering the state of the TV.

Using an OPTICAL cable 1. Connect the OPT. IN jack on the back of the

unit to OPTICAL OUT jack on the TV using an OPTICAL cable.

2. Set the input source to OPTICAL. Press repeatedly FUNC on the remote control or F on the unit until the function is selected.

To directly select the OPTICAL function, press OPTICAL on the remote control.

y You can enjoy the TV audio through the speakers of this unit. In the case of some TV models, you must select the external speaker option from the TV menu. (For details, reference your TV user manual.)

y Set up the sound output of TV to listen to the sound through this unit : TV setting menu [ [Sound] [ [TV Sound output] [ [External speaker (Optical)]

y Details of TV setting menu vary depending on the manufacturers or models of your TV.

, Note

LG Sound Sync

You can control some functions of this unit by your TVs remote control with LG Sound Sync. It is compatible with the LG TV that is supported LG Sound Sync. Make sure of the LG Sound Sync logo on your TV.

Controllable function by LG TVs remote control : Volume up/down, mute

Refer to the TVs instruction manual for the details of LG Sound Sync.

Make one of the following connections, depending on the capabilities of your equipment.

y You can also use the remote control of this unit while using LG Sound Sync. If you use TV's remote control again, the unit synchronizes with the TV.

y When the connection fails, make sure of the condition of the TV and power.

y Make sure of the condition of this unit and the connection in the cases below when using LG Sound Sync.

- Turn off the unit.

- Changing the function to the others.

- Disconnecting the optical cable.

y The amount of time to turn off this unit is different depending on your TV when you set AUTO POWER function to ON.

With wired connection

1. Connect your LG TV to the unit by using an optical cable.

2. Set up the sound output of TV to listen to the sound through this unit : TV setting menu [ [Sound] [ [TV Sound output] [ [LG Sound Sync (Optical)]

3. Turn on the unit by pressing 1 (Power) on the remote control.

4. Select OPTICAL function by using FUNC on the remote control or F on the unit until the function is selected.

You can see LG OPT on the display window if connecting normally between this unit and your TV.

Details of TV setting menu vary depending on the manufacturers or models of your TV.

, Note

Using an HDMI cable If you connect this unit to a TV that supports HDMI CEC and ARC (Audio Return Channel), you can enjoy the TV audio through the speakers of this unit without connecting the optical cable.

Connect the HDMI OUT jack on the back of the unit to ARC jack on the TV using an HDMI cable.

y HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control): Using a single remote control, you have the ability to operate CEC compatible devices (TV, Sound Bar, Blue-ray player, etc.)

y You can also enjoy extra functions such as Bluetooth with FUNC on remote control or F on this unit. When you go back to live TV channel after using the extra functions (Bluetooth) of this audio system, you should choose your preferred speaker on TV to enjoy the sound from this audio system again.

HDMI cable Checklist Some HDMI cables do not support the ARC function, this can result in no sound output.

When connecting this unit to the TV, if there is no sound, there might be a problem with the HDMI cable. Therefore connect this unit to the TV and check whether the Type A, High speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet.

Enjoy rich sound broadcast of the channel with the sound bar

Connection through HDMI Cable Your television must support the newest HDMI features (HDMI CEC1) / ARC (Audio Return Channel)) to fully enjoy the Live broadcasting channel with audio system through an HDMI cable. Unless your TV supports these HDMI features, the audio system should be connected through an OPTICAL cable.

1) HDMI CEC (High-Definition Multimedia Interface Consumer Electronics Control)

Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) is an HDMI feature designed to allow the user to command and control the CEC-enabled devices, that are connected through HDMI by using only one of their remote controls.

Trade names for CEC are SimpLink (LG) , Anynet+ (Samsung), BRAVIA Sync (Sony), EasyLink (Philips), etc.

What is SIMPLINK?

Some functions of this unit are controlled by the TVs remote control when this unit and LG TVs with SIMPLINK are connected through HDMI connection.

Controllable functions by LG TVs remote control : Power on/off, volume up/down, etc.

Refer to the TV owners manual for the details of SIMPLINK function.

LG TVs with SIMPLINK function has the logo as shown above.

y Depending on the state of the unit, some SIMPLINK operation may differ from your purpose or not work.

y Depending on a TV or a player which is connected with this unit, SIMPLINK operation may differ from your purpose.

ARC (Audio Return Channel) function The ARC function enables an HDMI capable TV to send the audio stream to HDMI OUT of the unit.

To use this function :

- Your TV must support the HDMI-CEC and ARC function and the HDMI-CEC and ARC must be set to On.

- The setting method of HDMI-CEC and ARC may differ depending on the TV. For details about ARC function, refer to your TV manual.

- You must use the HDMI cable (Type A, High Speed HDMI cable with Ethernet).

- You must connect the HDMI OUT on the unit with HDMI IN of the TV that supports ARC function using an HDMI cable.

- You can connect only one Sound bar to TV compatible with ARC.

y ARC function is automatically selected when ARC signal comes in from TV, no matter what kind of the function you are using.

y You can enjoy the TV audio through the speakers of this unit. In the case of some TV models, you must select the external speaker option from the TV menu. (For details, reference your TV user manual.)

y Set up the sound output of TV to listen to the sound through this unit : TV setting menu [ [Sound] [ [TV Sound output] [ [External speaker (HDMI ARC)]

y Details of TV setting menu vary depending on the manufacturers or models of your TV.

, Note

Additional information for HDMI

y When you connect an HDMI or DVI compatible device make sure of the following:

- Try switching off the HDMI/DVI device and this player. Next, switch on the HDMI/DVI device and leave it for around 30 seconds, then switch on this player.

- The connected devices video input is set correctly for this unit.

- The connected device is compatible with 720 x 576p, 1280 x 720p, 1920 x 1080i or 1920 x 1080p video input.

y Not all HDCP-compatible HDMI or DVI devices will work with this player.

- The picture will not be displayed properly with non-HDCP device.

y If a connected HDMI device does not accept the audio output of the player, the HDMI devices audio sound may be distorted or may not output.

y Changing the resolution when the connection has already been established may result in malfunctions. To solve the problem, turn off the player and then turn it on again.

y When the HDMI connection with HDCP is not verified, TV screen is changed to black screen. In this case, check the HDMI connection, or disconnect the HDMI cable.

y If there are noises or lines on the screen, please check the HDMI cable (length is generally limited to 4.5 m(15 ft).

y You cannot change the video resolution in the HDMI IN mode. Change the video resolution of the connected component.

y If the video output signal is abnormal when your personal computer is connected to HDMI IN jack, change the resolution of your personal computer to 576p, 720p, 1080i or 1080p.

Optional equipment connection

For enjoying sound only You can enjoy the sound from the external device you connect.

To the Blu-ray disc player, DVD player, etc.

1. Connect HDMI IN jack on the back of the unit to HDMI OUT jack on the audio device such as Blu- ray disc player, DVD player, etc.

2. Set the input source to HDMI IN. Press repeatedly FUNC on the remote control or F on the unit until the function is selected.

For enjoying both sound and picture You can enjoy both sound and picture from the external device you connect.

1. Connect HDMI IN jack on the back of the unit to HDMI OUT jack on the external device such as Blu-ray disc player, DVD player, etc.

2. Connect HDMI OUT jack on the back of the unit to HDMI IN jack on the TV.

3. Set the input source to HDMI IN. Press repeatedly FUNC on the remote control or F on the unit until the function is selected.

HDMI OUT jack is for TV connection. Even though PCM multi channel is inputted to the unit through an HDMI cable, the unit can only output 2 channel to TV.

PORT. (Portable) IN connection

Listening to music from your portable player The unit can be used to play the music from many types of portable players or external devices.

1. Connect the portable player to the PORTABLE IN connector of the unit.

2. Turn the power on by pressing 1 (Power).

3. Select the PORTABLE function by pressing FUNC on the remote control or F on the unit until the function is selected.

4. Turn on the portable player or external device and start playing it.

OPTICAL IN connection Connect an optical output jack of external devices to the OPT. IN jack.

Optical cable

1. Connect the OPT. IN jack on the back of the unit to optical out jack of your TV (or digital device etc.)

2. Select the input source to OPTICAL by pressing FUNC on the remote control or F on the unit until the function is selected.

To directly select the OPTICAL function, press OPTICAL on the remote control.

3. Listen to sound from the connected device.

4. Press OPTICAL to exit from OPTICAL. Function is retuned to previous one.

Initial Multi-Room Setup When installing the MUSICflow product for the first time, you can choose two types of connection as below.

Wired connection (MUSICflow Mesh Network Connection) Connect your speaker to the home router using LAN cable.

Then you can connect the additional MUSICflow products (Optional) to your home network wirelessly. Refer to Connecting the speakers to your Home Network (Additional) on page 31.

LAN Cable

Wireless connection (Standard Wireless Connection) When the wired connection is unavailable between your speaker and home router, this unit offers music streaming service within home routers Wi-Fi coverage.

Connect one of the your speaker to the home router wirelessly.

Then you can connect the additional MUSICflow products (Optional) to your home network wirelessly. Refer to Connecting the speakers to your Home Network (Additional) on page 31.

Installing Music Flow Player App

Through Apple App Store or Google Play Store

1. Tap the Apple App Store icon or Google Play Store icon.

2. Type in Music Flow Player in the search bar and tap Search.

3. Select Music Flow Player in the search result list to download.

y Music Flow Player app will be available in version of the software as follow; Android OS : Ver 4.0 (ICS) (or later) iOS O/S : Ver 6.0 (or later)

Connecting the speaker to your Home Network Using a wired network provides the best performance, because the attached devices connect directly to the network without radio frequency interference.

Different ways of listening to music There are a number of differing ways of listening to music : Group, Surround and Seamless playbacks.

If you want to enjoy the group playback and Surround playback, it is recommended that at least one speaker is connected by LAN cable. To change speaker connection setting when all the speaker have been already connected wirelessly, reset all the speaker and connect again after connecting the one speaker of them.

In the wireless connection, the smoothness of playback is subject to the location of installed speaker. Install the speakers at a short distance from the router. To enjoy the smooth group playback or surround playback wirelessly, it is recommended to use the router supporting 802.11n. In this case, set the routers security mode setting to OPEN or AES.

Group Playback You can group multiple speakers linked to the Music Flow Player app and play the same music through all the connected speakers in the same group.

Seamless playback You can easily change the playing speaker from your smart device or the speaker to the another speaker without pause.

To use Seamless playback, you have to set up Auto Music Play to On. (Page 54)

y It is not supported when you go out of the house with your smart device.

y If the source is Portable In and Bluetooth, seamless play is not supported. (Media server and online streaming service are supported).

y In case of the online streaming service, the music you are listening to is played from the beginning.

y On seamless play, each speaker keeps its existing volume value. If no sound coming out from the speaker during playback, check the switched speakers volume is set to 0.

1. If the smart device playing music is carried from outside to a room where the connected speaker is in, the pop-up window on the smart device will appear to ask you which speaker you want to play music through.

Using a Bluetooth Wireless Technology

About Bluetooth Bluetooth is wireless communication technology for short range connection.

The sound may be interrupted when the connection interfered by the other electronic wave or you connect the bluetooth in the other rooms.

Connecting individual devices under Bluetooth wireless technology does not incur any charges. A mobile phone with Bluetooth wireless technology can be operated via the Cascade if the connection was made via Bluetooth wireless technology.

Available Devices : Android device, iOS device

Bluetooth profiles In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, devices must be able to interpret certain profiles. This speaker is compatible with following profile.

A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution

Profile)

Listening to Music of a Bluetooth Device Before you start the pairing procedure, make sure that the Bluetooth feature on your smart device is turned on. Refer to your Bluetooth devices user guide. Once a pairing operation is performed, it does not need to be performed again.

1. Select the Bluetooth function by using FUNC on the remote control or F on the unit until the function is selected. Appears BT and then BT READY in display window.

2. Operate the Bluetooth device and perform the pairing operation. When searching for this speaker on your Bluetooth device, a list of the devices found may appear in the Bluetooth device display depending on the type of Bluetooth device. Your speaker appears as Music Flow HS6 (XX:XX).

3. Select the Music Flow HS6 (XX:XX).

y XX:XX means the last four digits of address. For example, if your unit has a Bluetooth address such as 9C:02:98:4A:BC, you will see Music Flow HS6 (XX:XX) on your Bluetooth device.

y Depending on the Bluetooth device type, some device have a different pairing way. Enter the PIN code (0000) as needed.

y This unit supports Bluetooth auto pairing. However it does not operate in the case below:

- When you restart this unit.

- When you disconnect this unit by yourself.

y You cannot control the Bluetooth device with this unit.

y Pairing is limited to One Bluetooth device. Multi-Pairing is not supported.

y The more distance between the unit and the bluetooth device, the lower the sound quality becomes.

DRC (Dynamic Range Control) Make the sound clear when the volume is turned down (Dolby Digital only). Set to [DRC ON] by using DRC.

AV Sync When receiving audio signals from TV, sound and images may not be matched. In the case, this function can adjust the delay time.

1. Press AV SYNC.

2. Use C/V to control the time which you can set at between 0 and 300 ms.

Using your TV remote control You can control some functions of this unit by your TV remote control even by other companys product. Controllable functions are volume up/down and mute.

Press and hold INFO on the remote control for about 3 seconds. ON - TV REMOTE appears and you can control this unit by your TV remote control.

To check the status of this function, press and hold INFO.

To turn off this function, press and hold INFO and press it once again while ON - TV REMOTE is scrolled.

Auto power down This unit will turn itself off to save electric consumption when the main unit is not connected to an external device and is not used for 20 minutes.

It will also turn off after six hours if the Main unit is connected to a device using portable input.

AUTO POWER On/Off This unit automatically turns on and off by an input source : Optical.

When you turn on your TV or an external device connected to this unit, this unit recognizes the input signal and selects the optical function. You can hear the sound from your device.

This function turns on or off each time you press AUTO POWER.

y After the unit is turned on by AUTO POWER function, it will be automatically turned off if there is no signal for a certain period of time from the TV connected by LG Sound Sync (Optical).

y After the unit is turned on by AUTO POWER function, it will be automatically turned off if there is no signal for a certain period of time from the external device.

y If you turned off the unit directly, it cannot be turned on automatically by AUTO POWER function. However the unit can be turned on by AUTO POWER function when optical signal comes in after 5 seconds of no signal.

Sound adjustment

Adjust volume level automatically This unit supports Auto volume function that automatically adjusts the volume level.

When the output sound is too loud or too low, press AUTO VOL on the remote control. So you can enjoy the sound with appropriate levels.

Adjust the Treble/Bass/Sub- woofer You can adjust the sound level of Treble, Bass and Subwoofer as your preference.

1. Press button repeatedly to select TREBLE, BASS or SUBWF (Subwoofer).

2. Press VOL o/p to adjust the sound level.

Standby mode The speaker switches to the standby mode if there is no music playback or no button operation.

Standby mode

Option 1. If network is disconnected and there is no music playback and no button operation for 20 minutes, the speaker switches to the standby mode. Then GOOD BYE appears on the display window and the LED indicator on the unit turns red.

Option 2. If you press and hold 1/! on the unit or 1 on the remote control for about 3 seconds, the speaker switches to the standby mode. Then GOOD BYE appears on the display window and the LED indicator on the unit turns red.

Network standby mode

Option 1. When network is connected but music is not played and buttons are not pressed for 20 minutes, the speaker switches to the network standby mode. Then the LED indicator on the unit becomes dimmed in white.

Option 2. If you press 1/! on the unit or 1 on the remote control, the speaker switches to the network standby mode. Then the LED indicator on the unit becomes dimmed in white.

On the Network Standby Mode, if you press 1/! button, the latest music playlist will be played.

Bluetooth standby mode If the Bluetooth standby mode is set to ON, the speaker switches Bluetooth standby mode when is turned off.

When you turn on the main unit in the Bluetooth standby mode, Bluetooth and LG TV are able to connect even if network is not connected.

y Adjust volume level of the main unit to minimum. And then, press and hold VOL - and DRC on the remote control for about 3 seconds. The speaker switches Bluetooth standby mode.

When shipping the speaker Please save the original shipping carton and packing materials. If you need to ship the speaker, for maximum protection, re-pack the speaker as it was originally packed at the factory.
