Chapter 1. Product introduction

ThinkPad Integrated Earbuds and ThinkBook Integrated Earbuds (referred to as earbuds) help you work more comfortably and efficiently with calls and meetings.

Auto pairing and connecting with your computer through Versa Bay

Chapter 2. Use the earbuds

Your computer is preinstalled with Lenovo Buddy. You can use it to:

Display the remaining battery and charging status of the earbuds

Enable or disable the earbuds as windows default audio device

Pair to your phone or tablet and check connection status

Reconnect the earbuds to your computer

Note: When you turn off Lenovo Buddy, there will be an earbuds icon in the Windows notification area. Do not exit Lenovo Buddy.

Use the earbuds with your computer

Step 1. Take out the earbuds

Push the Versa Bay and take out the earbuds from your computer. The earbuds are paired with your computer through Versa Bay automatically.

Step 2. Answer the call (Skype for Business or Microsoft Teams Rooms)

Tap one of the earbuds twice to answer the call. Tap twice again to mute or unmute.

Note: It is better to wear both earbuds when you are answering a call.

Use the earbuds with your phone or tablet

Step 1. Pair the earbuds with your phone or tablet

1. Ensure the earbuds are not in the Versa Bay.

2. Open Lenovo Buddy and click the Disconnect and repairing button to enter paring mode. The earbuds LED will blinks in red and blue alternatively.

3. Enable Bluetooth on your device and follow the on-screen instructions to pair the earbuds. The earbuds LED will be solid blue for one second if paring is successful.

4. Take out the earbuds and they are ready for use.

Notes:

The earbuds can be paired with only one device. If you connect the earbuds to another device, it will disconnect with your computer automatically.

If pairing is unsuccessful, do one of the following to reconnect with your computer. Then, repeat above steps.

Tap one of the earbuds twice.

Open Lenovo Buddy and click the Reconnect button.

Put the earbuds back to your computer and take them out again.

When you put the earbuds back to the Versa Bay, it will reconnect with your computer automatically.

Step 2. Answer the phone call or listen to music

Tap one of the earbuds twice to answer the phone call.

Chapter 3. Charge the earbuds

The earbuds will remind you through voice assistant when the battery is low. Then, charge the battery by putting the earbuds back to your computer.*

The earbuds support quick charge: 10 minutes charge for at least 1 hour play time.**

*The earbuds can be charged by your computer all the time except for the following situation:

The remaining battery power of your computer is lower than 5%, and the computer is in hibernation mode with no power adapter connected.

The remaining battery power of your computer is lower than 5%, and the computer is turned off with no power adapter connected.

**The actual charging and battery life may vary based on usage.

Chapter 4. Troubleshooting

1. I cannot use only one of the earbuds due to one of the following reasons:

a. One of the earbuds run out of battery.

b. Another earbud is lost.

c. Two earbuds are out of Bluetooth connection range (about 10 m).

To solve the problem, do one of the following:

Put both earbuds into the Versa Bay and push them back to your computer. Take them out again.

Call Lenovo Customer Support Center for help.

2. The earbuds cannot be connected to my computer when I take them out from the Versa Bay. Lenovo Buddy shows Not connected and the battery is empty.

To solve the problem, do one of the following:

Click the Reconnect button from Lenovo Buddy.

Put both earbuds into the Versa Bay and push them back to your computer. Click the Reset button in Lenovo Buddy, and then follow the on-screen instructions to finish the reset process.

3. The earbuds are already connected to my computer and Lenovo Buddy shows connected, but I cannot hear anything through the earbuds.

To solve the problem, do one of the following:

Turn on the Default audio device switch from Lenovo Buddy.

Click the speaker icon in the Windows notification area and select Integrated Earbuds.

4. The playback device and recording device cannot switch between the earbuds and my computer automatically.

To solve the problem,

a. Turn on the Default audio device switch from Lenovo Buddy.

b. If the problem persists,

If you are in a call of Skype for Business or Teams, change the playback device and recording device in device setting from Skype for Business or Teams.

If you are in a call of other applications, such as WeChat, QQ, or Skype, end the call and dial out again.

5. Only one earbud has audio output.

To solve the problem, do one of the following:

Put both earbuds into the Versa Bay and push them back to your computer. Take them out again.

Click the Reconnect button from Lenovo Buddy.

Put both earbuds into the Versa Bay and push them back to your computer. Click the Reset button in Lenovo Buddy, and then follow the on-screen instructions to finish the reset process.

6. I exit Lenovo Buddy, and then put the earbuds back to my computer. The playback device and recording device cannot change back to my computer automatically.

To solve the problem, do one of the following:

Turn on Lenovo Buddy.

Click the speaker icon in the Windows notification area and select the speaker of your computer.

7. Lenovo Buddy cannot work when the earbuds are paired with my computer through Bluetooth.

To solve the problem, disconnect the earbuds from the computer through Bluetooth and put them back to the computer.
