Installation Instructions for your new

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS WARNING To reduce the risk of fire, electrical

shock, injury to persons, or damage when using the air conditioner, follow basic precautions, including the following: Read all of the instructions before using this appliance. Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet. Do not remove ground prong. Do not use an adapter. Do not use an extension cord. Do not operate the air conditioner if it has a damaged

cord or plug, if it is not working properly, or if it has been damaged or dropped.

The air conditioner should be serviced only by qualified service personnel. Call an authorized service company for examination, repair, or adjustment.

Disconnect power before servicing.

Disconnect power before cleaning. NOTE: Turning off power by pressing the Power button does NOT disconnect the appliance from the power supply.

Do not install or use the air conditioner in any area where the atmosphere contains combustible gases or where the atmosphere is contaminated. Avoid any chemicals coming in contact with your air conditioner.

Do not store anything directly on top of the air conditioner.

Use two or more people to move and install air conditioner.

Never operate the air conditioner without the filters in place.

Do not use the air conditioner near a bathtub, shower or wash basin or other wet area.

Do not use means to accelerate the defrosting process or to clean, other than those recommended by the manufacturer.

The appliance shall be stored in a room without continuously operating ignition sources (for example: open flames, an operating gas appliance or an operating electric heater.

Do not pierce or burn refrigerant tubing. Be aware that refrigerants may not contain an odor.

Keep ventilation openings clear of obstruction. When handling, installing, and operating the appliance,

care should be taken to avoid damage to the refrigerant tubing.

Do not drill holes in the unit. Maintenance, cleaning, and service should only be

performed by technicians properly trained and qualified in the use of flammable refrigerants.

GE Appliances does not support any servicing of the air conditioner.

Dispose of air conditioner in accordance with Federal and Local Regulations. Flammable refrigerants require special disposal procedures. Contact your local authorities for the environmentally safe disposal of your air conditioner.

WARNING Risk of Fire or Explosion. This unit contains flammable refrigerant. Additional safety precautions must be followed.

Safety

Units are recommended to operate at conditions of 104 F Outdoor and 80 F indoor and below.

Converting GE Portable Air Conditioner to Dual Hose Configuration

Installation Instructions

STEP 1: Unplug or disconnect power

WARNING

Electrical Shock Hazard Disconnect power before servicing Replace all parts and panels before operating Failure to do so can result in death or electric shock

STEP 2: Determine Location Requirements Place the air conditioner on a flat, level surface in a

location that is at least 20 (51 cm) from any wall. NOTE: A minimum clearance of 20 (51 cm) from the air conditioner to the wall must be maintained to ensure proper airflow. Keep the air conditioner free of any obstructions

such as drapes, curtains, blinds, etc. The hoses should be free of any obstructions. Do not place the air conditioner on an unstable

or raised surface because it could fall and cause damage or injury.

Do not place the air conditioner in direct sunlight or near a heat source such as baseboard heaters, stoves, etc.

The window panel can be installed in a window with a minimum 24 (61 cm) to a maximum 52 (132 cm) opening.

STEP 3: Installing the Exhaust Hose Insulating Sleeve If you previously installed your GE Portable Air Conditioner, you will need to remove the Window Kit from the window and then remove the Exhaust Hose Adapter from the Window Kit. Next, remove the hose from the back of the AC and slide the fabric insulation over the hose, starting from the end you just removed from the back of you AC. It will be easier if you fully extend the hose before sliding the insulation over the hose. You can then re-attach the hose to the back of the AC. If you have not installed your Portable AC yet, using the parts that came with your Portable Air Conditioner, please follow the instructions to assemble the 2 adapters onto the exhaust hose to make up the exhaust hose assembly (step 2 of the Installation Instructions that came with your Portable AC). Slide the fabric insulation over the hose, starting from the end with the round AC to hose adapter. It will be easier if you fully extend the hose before sliding the insulation over the hose. You can now assemble the exhaust hose assembly onto the back of the Air Conditioner

STEP 5: Assemble Intake Hose Assembly and Mount to back of Unit Using the parts that were included in the Dual Hose Conversion Kit, extend the intake hose approximately 4 from each end. Screw the adapters onto the ends of the hose, turning clockwise until they are secure. Insert the round adapter into the intake vent on the baffle you assembled onto the AC in the previous step and turn counter-clockwise to secure it.

STEP 6: Install Intake and Exhaust Hose Adapters to Dual Hose Window Panel 1. Hold the Dual Hose

Window Panel so that the L-shaped edges of the panel are facing you.

2. Insert the exhaust adapter into the right side opening in the window kit and slide to lock it in place.

3. From the opposite side, insert one of the flat tipped screws through the hole in the Window Panel into the adapter to lock it in place.

4. Repeat the above instructions for the intake adapter using the left side opening.

Installation Instructions

STEP 7: Complete the installation by continuing from Step 4 on page 13 of the Use & Care manual that came with your Portable Air Conditioner. For some window openings, you may need to cut the expansion panels.

STEP 4: Attach the Dual Hose Conversion Baffle to the Back of the Air Conditioner

From the back of your Air Conditioner, remove the two Philips head screws holding the Intake Grille to the AC

Remove the Air Intake Grille and filter

Replace the Grille with the matching Dual Hose Conversion Baffle, securing it with the two Philips head screws.

Use the Small Dual Hose Conversion Baffle for these models: APCD07JALW, APWD07JASG, APCD08JALW, APCD08JASW, APSD08JASG, APWD08JAWW

Use the Large Dual Hose Conversion Baffle for these models: APCD10JALW, APCD10JASG, APWD10JASG, APWD10JAWG, APXD10JAWB

INSTRUCCIONES IMPORTANTES DE SEGURIDAD ADVERTENCIA Para reducir el riesgo de

incendio, choque elctrico, lesiones a personas o daos al utilizar el acondicionador de aire, siga precauciones bsicas, incluyendo las siguientes: Lea todas las instrucciones antes de usar este

electrodomstico. Conecte a un contacto de pared de conexin a tierra de 3

terminales. No quite el terminal de conexin a tierra. No use un adaptador. No use un cable elctrico de extensin. No ponga a funcionar el acondicionador de aire si tiene

un cable o enchufe daado, si no funciona correctamente o si se ha daado o cado.

El acondicionador de aire solo debe ser reparado por personal de servicio competente. Llame a la compaa de servicio tcnico autorizada para su inspeccin, reparacin o ajuste.

Desconecte el suministro de energa antes de darle servicio tcnico.

Desconecte el suministro de energa antes de limpiarlo.. NOTA: Si apaga la unidad presionando el botn Power (Encendido), esto NO desconecta el electrodomstico del suministro de energa.

No instale ni utilice el acondicionador de aire en reas donde la atmsfera contenga gases combustibles o donde la atmsfera est contaminada. Evite que cualquier producto qumico entre en contacto con el acondicionador de aire.

No almacene nada directamente encima del acondicionador de aire.

Con la ayuda de dos o ms personas, mueva e instale el acondicionador de aire.

Nunca haga funcionar el acondicionador de aire si los filtros de aire no estn colocados en su lugar.

No utilice el acondicionado de aire cerca de una tina, ducha o lavabo ni otra zona hmeda.

A fin de acelerar el proceso de descongelacin o para limpiar, no use ningn mtodo que no sea el recomendado por el fabricante.

Este electrodomstico deber ser guardado en una sala donde no haya fuentes de encendido continuas (por ejemplo: llamas abiertas, un electrodomstico que funcione a gas o un calefactor que funcione a electricidad).

No perfore ni queme el tubo refrigerante. Tenga presente que los refrigerantes no deben tener olor.

Mantenga las aberturas de la ventilacin libres de obstrucciones.

Al mover, instalar y operar el electrodomstico, se deber tener cuidado para evitar daar la tubera del refrigerante.

No realice perforaciones en la unidad. El mantenimiento, la limpieza y el servicio tcnico slo

debern ser realizados por tcnicos adecuadamente entrenados y calificados en el uso de refrigerantes inflamables.

GE no suministra servicio tcnico para el acondicionador de aire.

Descarte el electrodomstico de acuerdo con las Regulaciones Federales y Locales. Los refrigerantes inflamables requieren procedimientos de descarte especficos. A fin de descartar su acondicionador de aire de forma ambientalmente segura, comunquese con las autoridades locales.

Instrucciones de instalacin

PASO 1: Desenchufe o desconecte la corriente.

WARNING

Riesgo de descarga elctrica Desconecte el cable de corriente antes de realizar el

servicio tcnico. Reemplace todas las piezas y paneles antes del uso. Si no se cumple con esto, se podrn producir descargas

elctricas o la muerte.

PASO 2: Determine los Requisitos de Ubicacin Coloque el acondicionador de aire sobre una supercie

plana y nivelada en una ubicacin que est al menos a 20 (51 cm) de la pared.

NOTA: La distancia recomendada de la ventana para un rendimiento ptimo es de 20 (51 cm). Mantenga el acondicionador de aire libre de

obstrucciones como cortinas con pliegues, cortinas, persianas, etc.

Las mangueras debern estar libres de cualquier obstruccin.

No coloque el acondicionador de aire en una supercie inestable o elevada, ya que podra caerse y provocar daos o lesiones.

No exponga el acondicionador de aire a la luz directa del sol o cerca una fuente de calor como zcalos radiantes, estufas, etc.

El panel de la ventana puede instalarse en una ventana con una abertura mnima de 24 (61 cm) hasta un mximo de 52 (132 cm).

Conversin del Acondicionador de Aire Porttil de GE Appliances a una Configuracin con Manguera Doble

PASO 3: Instalacin de la Manga Aislante de la Manguera de Salida Si de forma previa instal su Acondicionador de Aire Porttil de GE Appliances, ser necesario retirar el Kit de Ventana de esta ltima y luego retirar el Adaptador de la Manguera de Salida del Kit de Ventana. Luego, retire la manguera de la parte trasera del acondicionador de aire y deslice el aislante de tela sobre la manguera, comenzando desde el extremo que acaba de retirar de la parte trasera del acondicionador de aire. Ser ms fcil si extiende la manguera completamente antes de deslizar el aislante sobre la manguera. Luego podr volver a adherir la manguera a la parte trasera del acondicionador de aire. Si an no instal el acondicionador de aire porttil utilizando las piezas incluidas con su acondicionador de aire porttil, por favor siga estas instrucciones para ensamblar los 2 adaptadores a la manguera de salida, a fin de realizar el ensamble de la manguera de salida (paso 2 de las instrucciones de instalacin). Deslice el aislante de tela sobre la manguera, comenzando desde el extremo redondo del acondicionador de aire hasta el adaptador de la manguera. Ser ms fcil si extiende la manguera completamente antes de deslizar el aislante sobre la manguera. Ahora puede instalar el ensamble de la manguera de salida sobre la parte trasera del acondicionador de aire.

PASO 5: Instale el Ensamble de la manguera de entrada y monte el mismo sobre la parte trasera de la unidad Usando las piezas incluidas con el kit de conversin de la manguera doble, extienda la manguera de entrada aproximadamente 4 desde cada extremo. Atornille los adaptadores sobre los extremos de la manguera, girando en sentido horario hasta que queden asegurados. Inserte el adaptador circular en la ventilacin de la entrada del deflector que ensambl sobre el acondicionador de aire en el paso previo y gire en direccin antihoraria para asegurarlo.

PASO 4: Adhiera el Deflector de Conversin de la Manguera Doble sobre la Parte Trasera del Acondicionador de Aire

Desde la parte trasera del acondicionador de aire, retire los dos tornillos con cabeza Phillips que sostienen la rejilla de entrada al acondicionador de aire.

Retire la rejilla de entrada de aire y el filtro. Reemplace la rejilla por el deflector de conversin de

la manguera doble que coincida, asegurando el mismo con dos tornillos de cabeza Phillips.

Use el Deflector de Conversin de la Manguera Doble Pequeo para estos modelos: APCD07JALW, APWD07JASG, APCD08JALW, APCD08JASW, APSD08JASG, APWD08JAWW

Use el Deflector de Conversin de la Manguera Doble Grande para estos modelos: APCD10JALW, APCD10JASG, APWD10JASG, APWD10JAWG, APXD10JAWB

PASO 6: Instale los adaptadores de la manguera de entrada y salida al panel de la ventana de la manguera doble 1. Mantenga el panel

de la ventana de la manguera doble de modo que los extremos con forma de L del panel miren hacia usted.

2. Inserte el adaptador de salida sobre la abertura del lado derecho del kit de ventana y deslice el mismo hasta que quede bloqueado en su posicin.

3. Desde el lado opuesto, inserte uno de los tornillos con punta plana a travs del agujero del panel de la ventana hasta dentro del adaptador para bloquearlo e
