N. SD CARD SLOT YoucanuseanSDflashmemorycardtohave additionalBandtracksavailabletotheG-DEC3.YoucanuseMP3 or WAV files (stereo/mono 16 bit, 44.1k) or MIDI files (type 0 or type1).YoucanalsoimportandexportpresetstotheSDcard.

Insert an empty SD card in the G-DEC 3 and the G-DEC will automatically create the appropriate folders for you. Then you canloadMP3orWAVfilesfromyourcomputerontotheSDcard "Audio" folder to use as Band tracks. Presets, phrase and MIDI tracksgointheirrespectivefolders.

NOTE: For reliable performance use only premium quality SD cards.Logontofender.comforalistofapprovedbrands.

O. PHONES Plug in your headphones, ear buds, or power speakers to enjoy the G-DEC 3's stereo features. This jack may also be used as a stereo recording output. The amp's internal speakerwillbemuted.

P. USB You can connect the G-DEC 3 to your computer and use FenderFusesoftware(included)totransfer/editpresetsandmedia files beyond what the G-DEC 3 is capable of alone. See the Fender Fusesoftwareowner'smanualontheG-DEC3DVDfordetails.

The USB connection can also be used to stream stereo 16 bit, 44.1kaudio(playbackandrecording).TheincludedG-DEC 3DVD contains Ableton Live Lite 8 Fender Edition recording software anddrivers.

R. POWER CORD SOCKET ConnectyourG-DEC3toagrounded A/Coutletinaccordancewiththevoltageandfrequencyratings specifiedontherearpanelofyourG-DEC3.

S. FUSE Protects the G-DEC 3 from electrical faults. Replace a blown fuse only with the type and rating specified below the fuse holder. To remove the fuse: Unplug the G-DEC 3 power cord from the socket to expose the fuse holder. Use a small screwdriver to pry out the fuse holder using the notch on top. Replacethefuseandreinstallthefuseholder.

T. LINE OUT (G-DEC 3 THIRTY ONLY) These line level stereo outputs are suitable for connection to recording or sound reinforcement equipment. Use balanced (TRS) cables for the bestperformance.

U. FOOTSWITCH Connect the (optional) 4-button footswitch (p/n0994070000)hereforremotefunctions(seepage8).

V. AUX IN YoucanconnecttheheadphoneoutputonyourCD orMP3playerhereusingamini-stereocable.Thisisaquickway to play music through your G-DEC 3 for accompaniment or to learn songs. Use the volume control on your player together withBANDLEVEL{L}toadjusttheauxiliaryvolumelevel.

By now you are familiar with Play mode and you're ready togodeeperintotheG-DEC3.Thisiswhereyou'llbeusing differentmodestotweakampandeffectsettingsandifyou likewhatyou'vecreated,savingitasanewPreset.

Amp mode and FX mode are the first two modes you shouldexplore.Thisiswhereyoucanselectdifferentampli- fiersandeffectsthenconfiguretheminendlessways.

GoaheadandpresstheAMPSoftKey.Thehighlighteditem in the middle of the screen is the Amplifier type and you canchangeitbyturningtheENCODERknob.

Noticethatthesoftkeyshavechangedtheirfunctionswhen you entered Amp mode. Now the two soft keys on the endswill takeyoutosubmenuswhereyoucanmakemore choicesaboutmodifyingtheAmplifiertypeyou'veselected.

Andthat'sprettymuchhowall themodeswork.Youenter a mode, turn the ENCODER knob to make changes, and pressthesoftkeystoselectdifferentmenus.Simple.Please notethatthemenusthatyouseearedynamic,whichmeans the menu selections you make determine which submenus appearnextinorder.

PHRASE MENUS FUNCTION

COMMITdubtrack Keeps your dub phrase (together with your original phrase) so that you can record and erase additional dubs without losing your "committed" dub track.

UNDOdubtrack Erases your dub phrase (second layer) but leaves your original phrase (first layer) intact.

SAVEphrase Saves your phrase to the G-DEC 3 hard drive (HD) or to your SD card.

LOADphrase Select a phrase file using the ENCODER knob, then press either of the "Load" soft keys.

PhraseLEVEL Adjusts the playback level of the phrase sampler.

DubFEEDBACK Reduces the volume level of your previous dubs when compared to the current dub to make the latest dubs stand out.

PhraseMODE Select "Synchronous" with MIDI files to have your phrase trimmed perfectly to the nearest measure.

PhraseSOURCE Select to record just your guitar, just the band, or both. This setting only affects the original phrase and not the dub phrase, which only records your guitar.

PhraseSPEED Modifies playback speed. NOTE: The DUB function is disabled if Phrase Speed is set to anything except "100%."

PhrasePITCH Modifies playback pitch. NOTE: The DUB function is disabled if Phrase Pitch is set to anything except "No Shift."

PhrasePLAYBACK Select to playback phrase once or repeatedly.

PhraseQUALITY Select "Low Resolution" for a longer phrase recording time (2 min, 20 sec) and "High Resolution" for better quality recording but shorter (35 sec).

PhraseDELETE Select a phrase to delete using the ENCODER knob, then press either of the "Delete" soft keys.

UTILITY MENUS FUNCTION

QA1/QA2/QA3 Assign presets to the Quick Access soft keys using the ENCODER knob.

MEMORYLOCK Use to prevent accidental preset overwrites and system restores.

LINELEVEL(30 ONLY) Adjusts the output level of the LINE OUT jacks to accommodate the input sensitivity of outboard equipment.

LINEOUT(30 ONLY) Select to send only the band track or "All" (the band and your guitar) from the LINE OUT jacks.

SPEAKER(30 ONLY) Select to hear only your guitar or "All" (the band and your guitar) from the G-DEC 3 speaker.

IMPORT Select a preset to import using the ENCODER knob, then use the SAVE function once you have found the preset you want.

EXPORTONE Select one preset to export to your SD card using the ENCODER knob, then press either "Export" soft key.

EXPORTALL Exports all presets to your SD card. Make sure to have an empty SD card or presets with unique names. Presets with duplicate names will be overwritten!

RESTOREPRESETS Restores presets to factory but does not restore media files (band tracks) if they have been deleted.

USBDRIVE Connects the G-DEC directly to your computer to allow you to upload/download preset, audio, phrase and midi files.

MEMORY Displays how much free space is on the G-DEC 3 HD and on your SD card.

YoucanuseaFenderFootswitch(p/n0994070000)to:

MODE1: Select Quick Access presets (QA1, QA2, QA3).

MODE2: Select regular Presets (DOWN or UP) and Start/stop the Band track (SELECT).

MODE3: Use the Phrase Sampler (PLAY, RECORD and OVERDUB). Footswitch LEDs will represent the Phrase Sampler functions that are simultaneouslydisplayedontheG-DECscreen.

MODE4: Activate the Tuner. The footswitch display shows the nearest note. Five LEDs on the footswitch represent the tuning needle functionthatissimultaneouslydisplayedontheG-DECscreen.
