Tone, Tradition and Innovationsince 1946

A. INPUT - Plug your bass in here.

B. PASSIVE/ACTIVE - Selects pickup type (sensitivity):

PASSIVE - normal (full input sensitivity)

ACTIVE - preamplified (low input sensitivity)

C. GAIN - Adjusts the preamp signal level. Use together with MASTER VOLUME {L} to set the overall amplifier loudness. Watch the PRE AMP LEDs to determine the optimal GAIN setting:

PRE AMP CLIP - Indicates preamp clipping (distortion). Occasional flashing is normal at peak playing intensities reduce GAIN if unwanted distortion is heard while this LED is on.

PRE AMP SIGNAL - Indicates the presense of sufficient signal strength. Constant illumination is normal at moderate playing intensities increase GAIN and/or your instrument volume if this LED is off or only flashing.

D. ROOM BALANCE - Rotate clockwise for treble emphasis to compensate for soft acoustic surfaces (carpet/drapes). Rotate counterclockwise for bass emphasis to compensate for hard acoustic surfaces (cement/tile).

E. ENHANCE - Boosts low and high frequencies.

OFF - Useful for fingerstyle bass playing

ON - Useful for slapstyle/deeptone bass playing

F. BASS/TREBLE - Adjusts tone in low/high frequency bands respectively.

G. SEMI-PARAMETRIC EQUALIZER - Adjusts tone in three variable frequency bands. Each FREQ knob selects the frequency range that the corresponding LEVEL knob adjusts. NOTE: The EQ has no effect when all LEVEL knobs are set to 0.

H. EQ GAIN - Adjusts the signal level of the semi-parametric equalizer circuit (when EQ ON/OFF is in). Useful for setting a balance between EQ on and off volume levels.

I. EQ ON/OFF - Switches the semi-parametric equalizer on/off as indicated by the LED.

J. COMPRESSOR - Compresses the dynamic range of the signal to smooth volume peaks and increase sustain. Rotate fully counter-clockwise to disable the compressor.

K. MUTE - Disables all amplifier outputs except for TUNER OUT. LED flashes when MUTE is active.

L. MASTER VOLUME - Adjusts overall amplifier loudness in conjunction with GAIN {C}. Watch the PWR AMP LED to determine the optimal MASTER VOLUME setting.

PWR AMP CLIP - Indicates power amp clipping (distortion). Occasional flashing is normal at peak playing intensities. Reduce MASTER VOLUME if unwanted distortion is heard while this LED is on.

M. POWER - Switches the unit on/off as indicated by the LED.

6 Fender 400 Pro / 400 Pro Head

N. IEC POWER SOCKET - Connect the supplied power cord to a grounded AC receptacle in compliance with the voltage and frequency ratings specified on the rear panel of your amplifier.

O. PARALLEL SPEAKER OUTPUTS - WARNING: In order to maintain the rated load impedance, disconnect the internal speaker (400 Pro) before connecting external speakers. See note below.

P. GROUND LIFT - Disconnects the LINE OUT {V} ground connection (pin-1) which may reduce noise levels.

GROUNDED (normal) GROUND LIFTED

Q. LINE OUT - Balanced XLR jack for output to sound reinforcement/recording equipment.

R. LINE OUT LEVEL - Adjusts the output level of the LINE OUT jack.

S. PRE/POST EQ - Supplies the LINE OUT jack with the signal either before or after it is processed by the tone/equalization circuits.

PRE (tone/EQ bypassed) POST (tone/EQ active)

T. TUNER OUT - Connect your bass tuner to enable inline instrument tuning (see MUTE {K}).

U. FOOTSWITCH - Connect the included footswitch to enable remote on/off switching of the semi-parametric equalizer. NOTE: When connected, the footswitch overrides EQ ON/OFF {I} on the front panel.

V. EFFECTS - (1) Effects Loop - Connect SEND to the input of your effects device and the output of the effects device to RETURN. (2) Multiple Pro Amps - Connect SEND on the primary unit to RETURN on the auxiliary unit. The primary unit controls all auxiliary units.

W. HORN LEVEL - (400 Pro only) Adjusts the volume level of the horn (high frequencies).

X. FUSE - (400 Pro only) Protects the horn from overload damage. If the horn stops responding, replace the fuse with the same type and rating as specified on your amplifier (2A, 250V).

NOTE: Safety Agencies in some countries have requirements that prohibit a rating of less than 4-ohms for this product. However, internal testing and consumer feedback have shown this product to function reliably with various external speaker enclosures. Fender will warranty this product under normal usage conditions with external speaker enclosures.

OFF Utile per esecuzioni fingerstyle.

I. EQ ON/OFF Attiva e disattiva lequalizzatore semi- parametrico come indicato dal LED.
