Data Protection Search supports both metadata indexing and full content indexing of Avamar and NetWorker File System backups for all operating systems.

Note

Data Protection Search only supports metadata indexing and full content indexing of file system backups and NDMP backups, restricted to VNX and Isilon storage platforms. Data Protection Search does not support indexing of other backup types. For example, block-based backups, databases, Microsoft Exchange, NetApp, and virtual machine.

Deploy the Data Protection Search virtual application in any of the following:

l VMware vCenter 6.5

l VMware vCenter 6.0

l VMware vCenter 5.x

l VMware vCloud 5.1 and later

Note

VMware vSphere Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) is required for Data Protection Search vApps and must be enabled. If you do not enable DRS, the Data Protection Search vApp fails to deploy.

The following are the virtual network adapters (NICs) supported for both vCenter and vCloud:

l VMXNET3 (Default in Data Protection Search 1.1 and 1.1 SP1)

l VMXNET2 (Enhanced)

l e1000
