Purpose This document describes how to install, deploy, and use the Cloud Disaster Recovery (Cloud DR) solution from PowerProtect Data Manager.

Audience This document is for backup administrators and operators, and cloud administrators who manage backup and recovery of VMs to the cloud and plan to deploy the Cloud DR solution using PowerProtect Data Manager UI. Experience in network administration is required for building the network infrastructure to support the Cloud DR solution. Training and certification for cloud provider services, for example, Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS), is recommended.

Overview This guide provides information about how to deploy and configure Cloud Disaster Recovery in PowerProtect Data Manager to back up and run disaster recovery (DR) of virtual machines.

Cloud Disaster Recovery is integrated into PowerProtect Data Manager. Cloud DR supports PowerProtect Data Manager as an on-premises backup source. This feature enables users to protect VMs by uploading VM image backups to the public cloud object storage, and run automated DR operations on those copies. This feature provides DR orchestration capabilities also. The requirement of an offsite data center is eliminated as the users can add the cloud as another cost-effective DR site using Cloud DR. From PowerProtect Data Manager UI, you can configure Cloud DR to move backups to the cloud, and perform disaster recovery of these backups. Cloud DR in PowerProtect Data Manager supports Amazon Web Services (AWS), AWS GovCloud and Microsoft Azure.

Cloud DR users can configure proxy settings in the PowerProtect Data Manager UI for communication between on premises sourced and public cloud. Both AWS and Azure supports proxy configuration.

Prerequisites The prerequisites for Cloud Disaster Recovery in PowerProtect Data Manager are as follows:

Register the vCenter Server, where the PowerProtect Data Manager is deployed, in Asset Sources section of Infrastructure pane.

Configure an NTP server in the Systems section of the Settings menu. Regions and supported operating systems for CDRS deployment are listed on Cloud DR Simple Support Matrix, which is

available on Dell EMC Online Support. The Cloud Disaster Recovery for PowerProtect Data Manager has the following scale limitations:

Ensure that you observe the VM specifications (including CPU and memory) for Cloud DR. The latest requirements (for AWS, AWS GovCloud and Azure) are listed in the Cloud Disaster Recovery Installation and Administration Guide.

Ensure that you understand and observe the prerequisite requirements for the cloud service that you are deploying. The latest prerequisites are listed in the Cloud Disaster Recovery Installation and Administration Guide.

Deploy Cloud Disaster Recovery The following procedure describes how to deploy Cloud Disaster Recovery in AWS and AWS GovCloud from PowerProtect Data Manager UI.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you have:

An AWS or AWS GovCloud account that is configured before connecting to the cloud account A Data Domain system that is configured at the production site Reviewed the prerequisite requirements for the cloud service that you are deploying. The latest prerequisites are listed in the

Cloud Disaster Recovery Installation and Administration Guide. Reviewed the requirements for managing access keys for IAM users as described in the AWS documentation

Steps

1. In the PowerProtect Data Manager home page, select Infrastructure > Storage The Storage page appears.

2. In the Cloud Disaster Recovery tab, click Configure. A warning message is displayed with the information about the time that is taken to complete the deployment process.

3. Click Yes to proceed with the deployment process. The Cloud DR initialization process starts.

4. The Cloud Disaster Recovery wizard opens after the Cloud DR initialization process completes.

5. In the Proxy Settings page, select the Connect to HTTP Proxy Server checkbox to configure a proxy server.

Configuring a proxy server is optional.

a. Enter the proxy host address and the port number in the respective fields. b. Select the Use user authentication (AWS) only checkbox. Enter the credentials for the proxy server in the respective

fields.

Skip this step if you do not want to enable user authentication for the proxy server.

c. Click Connect to connect to the proxy server.

Proxy server can be configured after deploying Cloud DR also.

6. Click Next. The Cloud Account page is displayed.

7. In the Cloud Account page, select AWS. The Enter AWS account credentials page appears.

8. Specify the following fields in the Enter AWS account credentials page:

Access Key ID Secret Key ID

For more information about obtaining the access and secret keys for AWS users, see Managing Access Keys for IAM Users in AWS documentation.

9. Click Show IAM Policy to view the Identity and Access Management policy that is required for Cloud DR implementation.

The Define the AWS IAM policy section of Cloud Disaster Recovery Installation and Administration Guide provides instructions for creating an AWS policy that uses this IAM policy.

10. Select Accept AWS Terms to accept the AWS marketplace terms, and click Connect. Cloud DR is connected to the AWS account.

11. Click Next. The Cloud DR Targets page is displayed.

12. In Configure Cloud DR Server Target, select the Bucket Name from the Select A Location To Deploy DR Server list.

The region of the bucket determines the location where CDRS is deployed.

13. To connect the cloud target, click Connect.

14. To reconfigure the cloud target details, click Disconnect.

15. Click Next. The Cloud Admin page is displayed.

16. In Specify Cloud Admin, specify the following fields:

a. Email Address

When Cloud DR Server is successfully deployed, AWS sends an email message to this address for verification. Follow the instructions in the email within 24 hours of deployment.

b. Password c. Confirm Password.

17. Click Next. The Configure Cloud DR Server summary page appears.

18. Review the Cloud DR server details.

a. To change the details of the Cloud DR server, click Back, and repeat the appropriate steps. b. To deploy Cloud DR in PowerProtect Data Manager, click Deploy Cloud DR Server.

The deployment of Cloud DR Server to Cloud DR target begins. Deploying Cloud DR Server can take about 20 minutes.

Results

The Cloud Disaster Recovery Setting Information appears on the Storage page, and an informational dialog box confirms that Cloud DR server is deploying.

To monitor the deployment from the Jobs page, click Go to Jobs. To monitor the deployment from the Storage page, click OK. When the deployment is complete, the public address of the Cloud DR Server hostname is displayed. If you want to open the Cloud DR Server UI in a new tab, click the Server Hostname link.

Add cloud targets You can add one or more cloud targets to the cloud account by selecting the appropriate AWS or AWS GovCloud S3 bucket. You can add (or remove) cloud targets only after the Cloud DR Server is deployed. You can also add cloud targets when you define a protection policy.

Steps

1. Select Infrastructure > Storage. The Storage window is displayed.

2. In the Cloud Diaster Recovery tab, click Add in the Cloud Targets section. The Add Cloud Target window is displayed.

3. Select the appropriate bucket from Bucket Name list. Click Save to add the cloud target.

4. For each Cloud DR target that you want to add, repeat the steps.

5. To remove an unwanted cloud target, select the cloud target, and click Remove.

NOTE: You cannot remove the cloud target that was used for the Cloud DR Server deployment.

Edit cloud account You can change the Access Key and Secret Key in the Edit Cloud Account page.

Steps

1. Select Infrastructure > Storage. The Storage window appears.

2. In the Cloud Diaster Recovery tab, click Edit in the Cloud Account section. The Edit Cloud Account page appears.

3. Enter the new Access Key and Secret Key.

4. Click Save to save the new cloud account details.

Prerequisites

Cloud Disaster Recovery Installation and Administration Guide. Reviewed the requirements for managing access keys for IAM users as described in the Azure documentation

Steps

1. In the PowerProtect Data Manager home page, select Infrastructure > Storage. The Storage page appears.

2. In the Cloud Disaster Recovery tab, click Configure. A warning message is displayed with the information about the time that is taken to complete the deployment process.

3. Click Yes to proceed with the deployment process. The Cloud DR initialization process starts.

4. The Cloud Disaster Recovery wizard opens after the Cloud DR initialization process completes.

5. In the Proxy Settings page, select the Connect to HTTP Proxy Server checkbox to configure a proxy server.

8. Click Select Subscription, and select a subscription from the list.

9. Click Connect.

Cloud DR is connected to the Azure account.

10. Click Next. The Cloud DR Targets page appears.

11. Select the appropriate storage account from the Storage Account list.

The cloud target contains the installation files and determines the region in which CDRS is deployed.

12. Click Connect. The Cloud Target Details page appears.

13. Click Next. The Cloud Admin page is displayed.

14. In Specify Cloud Admin page, specify the following fields:

a. Email Address

Use this email address to recover forgotten password.

b. Password c. Confirm Password

15. Click Next. The Configure Cloud DR Server summary page appears.

16. Review the Cloud DR server details.

a. To change the details of the Cloud DR server, click Back, and repeat the appropriate steps. b. To deploy Cloud DR in Azure, click Deploy Cloud DR Server.

The deployment of Cloud DR Server to Cloud DR target begins. Deploying Cloud DR Server can take about 20 minutes.

17. The Cloud Disaster Recovery Setting Information appears on the Storage page, and an informational dialog box confirms that Cloud DR server is deploying.

Steps

1. Select Infrastructure > Storage. The Storage window appears.

2. In the Cloud Diaster Recovery tab, click Add in the Cloud Targets section. The Add Cloud Target window appears.

3. Select the appropriate storage account from Storage Account list. Click Save to add the cloud target.

4. For each Cloud DR target that you want to add, repeat the steps in this procedure.

5. To delete the unwanted cloud targets, select the cloud target, and click Remove.

Edit cloud account You can change the Application ID and Client Secret in the Edit Cloud Account page.

Steps

1. Select Infrastructure > Storage. The Storage window appears.

2. In the Cloud Diaster Recovery tab, click Edit in the Cloud Account section. The Edit Cloud Account page appears.

3. Enter the new Application ID and Client Secret.

4. Click Save to save the new cloud account details.

Define recovery staging area Learn how to define a recovery staging area. Staging area is required to enable failback and direct recovery to vCenter operation.

Steps

1. In the PowerProtect Data Manager, select Infrastructure > Asset Sources.

2. Select the vCenter you want to fail back to and click Edit.

3. In the Edit vCenter dialog, click Define Recovery Staging Area, and then click Configure.

4. Select an appropriate datastore for the failed back VM in Datastores section, and then click Next.

5. Select an appropriate network for the VM in the Network section, and then click Next.

If a proxy server is configured, the recovery staging area network must be accessible by the proxy server.

6. Configure the following in IP Configuration section, and then click Next:

IP Range Subnet Mask Gateway

To enable multiple concurrent failbacks, click Add Another.

7. Review the Summary, and click Save. An informational dialog box is displayed that confirms the recovery staging area is successfully defined. Click Ok to close the dialog box.

14 Cloud DR in PowerProtect Data Manager

Protection policy This section describes how to add and edit protection polices that Cloud DR uses for protection and recovery workflows:

Protection policies

Protection policies define sets of objectives that apply to specific time periods. These objectives drive the configuration, active protection, and copy-data-management operations. You define the purpose of the policy, the assets that need to be protected, and the backup schedule.

Cloud DR supports only Virtual Machine policy type.

Define protection policy

Define a protection policy to create a schedule for the protection of the primary backup and the cloud copy.

Prerequisites

Recommendations for virtual machine protection policies in the PowerProtect Data Manager Administration and User Guide apply to protection policies for Cloud DR.

Steps

1. Log in to the PowerProtect Data Manager and select Protection > Protection Policies. The Protection Policies window appears

2. Click Add. The Add Policy wizard opens.

3. On the Type page, specify the following fields and click OK:

a. Name b. Description c. Type. Cloud DR supports only Virtual Machine policy type.

4. On the Purpose page, select Crash Consistent (the only supported option for Cloud DR).

5. On the Assets page, select the unprotected assets that you want to back up as part of this protection policy. If you do not see the virtual machines that you want to protect, click Find More Assets to add more vCenter assets. The window enables you to filter by asset name to locate the required assets.

6. Optionally, you can exclude disks from a protection policy as Cloud DR supports exclusion of disks in protection workflow.

See step 6 of Add a protection policy for virtual machine in PowerProtect Data Manager Administration and User Guide on how to exclude disks from a protection policy.

7. Click Next. The protection policy Schedule page appears. No default schedule is provided. If a backup has not been performed, no schedules are displayed.

8. Click + Backup to create a schedule to protect the assets. The Add Primary Backup dialog box appears.

9. Specify the following backup schedule fields:

a. Recurrence

The Recurrence option enables the user to determine how often the backups occur. Choose from Hourly, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly. If you select the Hourly option, the Recurrence depends on the Start Time and End Time fields . For example, if the Start Time is 8 pm and the End Time is 6 am, and you select Hourly, backups are performed hourly during that 10-hour window.

When you select Weekly and Monthly recurrence, you are selecting the interval at which the backup job runs within the window that you specify.

b. Create Copy determines how often a backup occurs during the backup window, depending on the Recurrence option you selected. Hourly, Weekly, and Monthly recurrences are allowed.

c. Keep For determines the retention period of the backup. d. Start Time and End Time determine the backup window.

End Time means that no new backup will be initiated in this policy after this time. It does not mean that any policy that is running is stopped. If the user is within the End Time specified, the protection process starts once the policy creation process ends.

e. Select Create Full to set the frequency for a full scale backup. f. Click OK.

The Schedule page updates with the added backup schedule. After completing a backup schedule, you can change any schedule details by selecting the check box next to the added schedule and clicking Edit.

10. (Optional) In the Schedule page, select an existing service level agreement that you want to apply to the primary backup schedule from the SLA list. Or, select Add to create a SLA within the Add Backup Service Level Agreement window.

11. Select the checkbox next to the added primary backup schedule, and click Cloud DR. The Add Cloud DR dialog box appears.

12. Specify the Retention Period for the cloud (this retention is different than the primary backup retention period). Click OK.

13. (Optional) Select an existing service level agreement that you want to apply to the cloud schedule from the SLA list. Alternatively, select Add to create an SLA within the Add Cloud DR Service Level Agreement window. Provide an SLA name and RPO value, and click Save.

Cloud Target is displayed in the Target column in a list that shows the cloud target and its location (for example, eu- west-1).

NOTE: The cloud target appears also in the Cloud DR Server UI on the System page, where the PowerProtect Data

Manager it belongs to and its vCenter are displayed.

14. If you want to add a cloud target, from the Cloud Target list, click Add. The Add Cloud Target dialog appears.

15. In the Add Cloud Target dialog, select a Bucket Name from the list. If you know the bucket name, begin typing the name to shorten the list of possible matches. After selecting the bucket name, click Save. The cloud target and its region are added to the Target column. The cloud target appears also in the Cloud Targets section of the Infrastructure > Storage > Cloud Disaster Recovery page.

NOTE: It is possible to add multiple cloud targets when editing the CDR stage in the policy. However, it is not possible

to use multiple cloud targets simultaneously.

16. Click Next.

The Summary page appears.

17. Review the protection policy group configuration details. To change protection policy details, click Edit for the category that you want to change. Click Finish. A message is displayed to confirm that PowerProtect Data Manager saved the protection policy.

18. To exit the window, click OK. To open the Jobs window and monitor the backup of the new protection policy group, click Go to Jobs .

Next steps

When the local backup is available on the Data Domain system, the backup copy files are automatically sent to the cloud based on the policy.

You can also view the protection status by logging in to the Cloud DR Server UI and clicking the Protection menu. From there, you can view the protected VMs, their upload status, and the latest backup copy that is available in the cloud. You can also

select individual VMs that you want to enable for rapid recovery operation. For more information, see the Cloud Disaster Recovery Installation and Administration Guide.

NOTE: If the protection job fails, the workflow cancels the Cloud DR job. The retry option for the Cloud DR job is not

supported. If a protection job with protection stage and Cloud DR stage fails, the Cloud DR is canceled and cannot be

restarted.

When an asset has a policy in which protection and CDR stages are outside the activity window, protection is not triggered for VMware Data Manager. The CDR job produces an empty copy.

Edit existing policy to change retention or cloud target

PowerProtect Data Manager enables you to edit an existing Cloud DR policy to change the retention period or cloud target.

Steps

1. In the PowerProtect Data Manager home page, select Protection > Protection Policies. The Protection Policy window appears.

2. Select the protection policy for Cloud DR, and click Edit. The Edit Policy window opens on the Summary page.

3. In the Schedule row, click Edit. The Schedule page appears.

4. Select the checkbox next to the schedule for Cloud DR, and click Edit. The Add Cloud DR dialog box appears.

5. Select a Retention Period, and click OK.

6. From the Cloud Target list, select a different cloud target, and click OK. A warning message reminds you that changing the cloud target starts a full backup of all VMs to the new cloud target. To acknowledge the message and change the cloud target, click OK.

7. Click Next. The Summary page appears.

8. Click Finish. An informational message confirms that PowerProtect Data Manager has saved the protection policy.

9. Click OK to exit the window, or click Go to Jobs to open the Jobs window.

View excluded disks You can view the disks that are excluded when you define a protection policy.

Steps

1. Select Infrastructure > Assets. The Assets page is displayed.

2. Select the applicable virtual machine.

The number of disks that are excluded and the total number of disks available in the virtual machine are displayed as a link in the Disk Excluded column of the assets table.

If the link shows 5 of 6, it means that five out of six disks were excluded from the restore operation.

3. Click the link that is displayed in the Disk Excluded column of the assets table. The Excluded Disks page is displayed.

4. Use the toggle to include or exclude the disks that are available in the selected virtual machine.

5. Click Save to save the selection.

Edit the retention period for backup copies You can edit the retention period of one or more backup copies to extend or shorten the amount of time that backups are retained.

About this task

You can edit the retention period for all asset types and backup types.

Steps

1. Select Infrastructure > Assets.

2. Select the tab for the asset type for which you want to edit the retention period in the Assets page. If a policy has been assigned, the table lists the assets that have been discovered, along with the associated protection policy.

3. Select a protected asset from the table, and then click View Copies. The Copy Locations pane identifies where the backups are stored.

4. Click the CDR icon in the left pane. The table in the right pane displays the list of backup copies.

5. Select the checkbox next to the applicable backup copies, and then click Edit Retention.

6. Select one of the following options:

a. Select Retention Date to select a calendar date as the expiration date for backups. b. Select Retention Value to define a fixed retention period in days, weeks, months, or years after the backup is

performed. For example, you can specify that backups expire after 6 months.

NOTE: When you edit the retention period for copies that are retention locked, you can only extend the retention

period.

7. Click Finish to save the changes. An informational dialog box that confirms the commencing of the retention process is displayed.

8. Do one of the following to close the dialog box.

Click Go to Jobs to monitor the retention process from the Jobs page. Click Ok to close the dialog box.

Results

The Retention column in the assets table displays the new retention date.

Delete backup copies PowerProtect Data Manager enables you to manually delete the backup copies. If you no longer require a backup copy, you can delete the backup copy ahead of their expiration date. The retention lock of the backup copy must be disabled before you proceed.

About this task

Starting with PowerProtect Data Manager version 19.6, you can perform a backup copy deletion that deletes only a specified part of a backup copy chain, without impacting the ability to restore other backup copies in the chain. When you select a specific backup copy for deletion, only that backup copy and the backup copies that depend on the selected backup copy are deleted. For example, when you select to delete a full backup copy, any other backup copies that depend on the full backup copy are also deleted.

Retry a failed backup copy deletion

If a backup copy is not deleted successfully, you can manually retry the operation.

Remove backup copies from the PowerProtect Data Manager database

This option enables you to delete the backup copy records from the PowerProtect Data Manager database, but keep the backup copies in the CDRS system.

About this task

For backup copies that could not be deleted from CDRS, you can remove the backup copies from the PowerProtect Data Manager database. Removing the backup copies from PowerProtect Data Manager does not delete the copies in CDRS.

Recovery The recovery operation in Cloud DR within PowerProtect Data Manager follows the same process as the stand-alone Cloud DR installation.

Click the Cloud DR Sessions tab in Recovery > Running Sessions to view the DR sessions in running state. The recovery operations are also done using the Cloud DR Server (CDRS) UI. See the Dell EMC Cloud Disaster Recovery Installation and Administration Guide for more information about the recovery process in the CDRS UI.

Recover assets in Cloud DR

You can use PowerProtect Data Manager to run disaster recovery for cloud-protected virtual machines.

Steps

1. Log in to PowerProtect Data Manager, and select Recovery > Assets. The Recovery window is displayed. The Recovery window displays all the assets with copies.

2. In the Virtual Machines tab, select the checkbox next to the virtual machine that you want to restore (that is, recover), and click View Copies.

If the selected virtual machine has copies in the cloud, the CDR icon is displayed.

3. Click the CDR icon. The CDR details pane shows a list of the cloud copies.

4. Select the checkbox next to the VM copy that you want to recover, and click Test or Failover. The Test or Failover dialog box is displayed.

5. Select the applicable virtual network in the Network section on the cloud account, and click Next.

6. In the Security Groups section, select a security group to attach to the recovered instance, and click Next. The Summary page is displayed.

7. Click Start Test or Start Failover.

Results

The test or failover process begins. You can monitor the progress on the Jobs window. You can also follow the recovery process that is described in the Dell EMC Cloud Disaster Recovery Installation and Administration Guide.

Failback to on-premises vCenter

Failing back a failed-over instance enables you to send the instance and its changes to an on-premises vCenter. The failback operation occurs in the Cloud Disaster Recovery Server (CDRS) UI.

Prerequisites

Configure the recovery staging area for the target vCenter through the PowerProtect Data Manager.

Steps

1. In the PowerProtect Data Manager, select Infrastructure > Storage > Cloud Disaster Recovery.

2. In the Cloud Disaster Recovery Server pane, the public address of the Cloud DR Server hostname is displayed. To open the CDRS UI in a new tab, click the Server Hostname link.

3. From the CDRS UI, select Recovery > DR Activities, select a running failover, and click Failback.

You can select the default target (the original, on-premises VM and vCenter) or a different target.

The excluded disks in the VM are displayed in the DR test screen. When you click the disk exclusion link, the disks that are excluded from the backup are displayed.

In Linux operating system, if the recovered VM contains excluded disks, the recovery of the copy fails and a warning is displayed. Check the log files for more information.

Results

Failback operation begins. When the failback operation completes, you can vMotion the failed back VM on the vCenter to the production area and change its IP address. For more information about the failback operation, see the Cloud Disaster Recovery Installation and Administration Guide.

Recover virtual machines from cloud copy directly to vCenter

Use PowerProtect Data Manager UI to restore virtual machines from copies stored in the cloud account directly vCenter. Restore operations is done one virtual machine at a time. Users must manually select the target vCenter.

Prerequisites

The recovery to vCenter option is available for all the vCenters with staging area configured, registered to PPDM. Users can restore the virtual machines that are protected by the same PPDM account. If there are no vCenters registered with staging area configured, the Restore function is not available. See PowerProtect Data Manager Administration and User Guide for information about adding a vCenter asset source. Use CDRS UI to recover the vCenters that are not registered to current PPDM.

Steps

1. Select Recovery > Assets. The Recovery window is displayed.

2. In the Virtual Machines tab, select the checkbox next to the virtual machines that you want to restore and then click View Copies.

If the selected virtual machine has copies in the cloud, the CDR icon is displayed.

The asset map for the selected virtual machine and the Copy Locations pane are displayed. The Copy Locations pane displays the location where you store the backups.

3. Click the CDR icon. The list of backup copies is displayed on the right pane.

4. Select the checkbox next to the backup copy that must be restored, and then click Restore button on the top.

The status of the backup copy must be Available for the restore operation.

The Create and Restore to New VM wizard is displayed.

5. In the Restore VM page, select the target vCenter from the drop-down list, and then click Restore.

If the source virtual machine vCenter is available with staging area configured, the Cloud DR selects this vCenter as the default target vCenter for restore.

6. In the Create and Restore to New VM dialog box, select the target vCenter from the dropdown list.

7. Optionally, turn on the Keep source VM MAC address and UID switch to retain the source VM MAC address and UID.

This option is disabled by default. CAUTION: Do not enable this toggle if source VM is still available on the target vCenter as this causes

restore operation failure.

8. Click Restore. An informational dialog box is displayed confirming that the restore operation has started successfully.

9. Click OK to close the dialog box or do one of the following to view the status of the restore operation:

a. Click Go to Jobs to monitor the status from the Jobs page. b. Click Go to Running Sessions to monitor the status from the Cloud DR tab in the Running Sessions page.

Delete DR session You can delete a running DR session, and the VM copies associated with the session from PPDM UI.

Steps

1. In the PowerProtect Data Manager, select Recovery > Running Sessions. The Running Sessions window is displayed.

2. In the Cloud DR Sessions tab, select the appropriate asset that must be deleted, and click the Delete button.

Results

The recovery flow ends the test or the failover process and deletes the recovered instances. Deleting a test or failover instance deletes the recovered cloud instance. Deleting a restore session retains the recovered VM.

Delete a restore to vCenter session Delete a restore to vCenter session for an applicable virtual machine from the Running Sessions page. Deleting a test or a failover session removes the recovered cloud instance. Deleting a restore session does not remove the restored virtual machine.

Steps

1. Select Recovery > Running Sessions. The Running Sessions page is displayed.

2. Click Cloud DR tab. The list of assets running the DR activities is displayed.

3. Select the asset of which the restore operation must be deleted, and then click Delete. A warning dialog box is displayed.

4. Click End Restore to delete the restore operation. A banner is displayed in the browser with the confirmation message for successful deletion of the restore session.

Monitor Cloud Disaster Recovery jobs The Jobs window in the PowerProtect Data Manager enables you to monitor the status of Cloud Disaster Recovery and view details. To perform analysis or troubleshooting, you can view a detailed log of a failed job.

To view more details about job progress, click the link for the job in the Completed Tasks column. In the job window that

appears, click the details icon in the Details column. Job steps with action descriptions and durations are shown.

When the job is successful, the success status appears on the Jobs page.

To view the running DR activities, from the Jobs page, select the Completed tab, select the job from the list, and select Recovery > Running Sessions > Cloud DR Sessions.

Service Level Agreement The SLA Compliance window in the PowerProtect Data Manager UI enables you to add a service level agreement (SLA) that identifies your Service Level Objectives (SLOs). You use the SLOs to verify that your protected assets are meeting the Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

The SLAs that are configured in the CDR stage appear on the CDRS dashboard. If a policy that is enabled for Cloud DR has a configured SLA, and the latest cloud backup copy is older than the configured SLA value, the CDRS dashboard indicates that the policy is not SLA-compliant. Cloud DR in PowerProtect Data Manager supports two types of Service Level Agreement.

Policy type SLA Cloud DR SLA

The Policy type SLA does not appear in the CDRS dashboard.

Add a Policy type Service Level Agreement

The SLA Compliance window in the PowerProtect Data Manager UI enables you to add a service level agreement (SLA). The Service Level Agreement identifies your Service Level Objectives (SLOs). You can use the SLOs to verify that your protected assets are meeting the Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Steps

1. Select Protection > SLA Compliance.

The SLA Compliance window appears.

2. Click Add button. The Add Service Level Agreement wizard opens.

3. Select Cloud DR in the Type section, and then click Next.

4. In the Objectives section, specify the following fields:

a. The SLA name. b. Select Minimum Copies, and specify the number of Cloud DR backups. c. Select Maximum Copies, and specify the number of Cloud DR backups.

5. Click Finish. The SLA is displayed on the SLA Compliance page.

Add a Cloud DR type Service Level Agreement

The Policy type SLA sets the SLA for the entire policy.

Upgrade Cloud Disaster Recovery The on-premises component of Cloud DR is upgraded when you upgrade PowerProtect Data Manager. PowerProtect Data Manager then triggers an upgrade of the Cloud DR Server (CDRS), the cloud-based component. Active recovery operations can block this part of the upgrade and may require a manual upgrade of the CDRS.

The Cloud DR restore ova package is available in the virtual machine during the upgrade process. This restore package can be used for VM failover to vCenter scenario.
