Modes of Operation

Air Extraction The air is drawn in and cleaned by the acrylic filters and directed outside.

The non-return flap supplied with the appliance must be fitted in the exhaust hole.

Having a non-return flap fitted in the ducting ensures that air, once ducted to the outside, cannot get back into the room again.

The flap is closed when the cooker hood is switched off.

When the cooker hood is switched on, the non-return flap opens for the cooking vapours to be ducted away.

Operation

To Select the Fan Motor Speed Your cooker hood has 3 levels of extraction. Depending on the cooking and frying vapours, you should run the cooker hood with "1" low, "2" medium or "3" high speed. To run the cooker hood, slide the motor speed selector to the desired extraction speed on the front panel.

Slide the motor speed selector to the "0" position to turn the unit off.

Carbon filters are available as an optional extra, see rear page for ordering details. Before using the cooker hood in recirculation mode, ensure that the carbon filter is in place. See

Cleaning and Maintenance.

Do not flamb under the cooker hood. CAUTION: Accessible parts may become hot when used with cooking appliances.

Ensure there is adequate ventilation in the room when the cooker hood is used at the same time as other appliances burning gas or other fuels.

Air Recirculation The air is drawn in and cleaned by a carbon filter (optional). The cleaned air is then recirculated back into the kitchen through the recirculation vents in the top of the cooker hood.

Cooker Hood Lighting Slide the lamp switch to the on position ( 1 ) to switch the lamps on.

Slide the lamp switch to the off position ( 0 ) to switch the lamps off.

All external surfaces and controls can be cleaned using a little washing-up liquid applied with a soft sponge or cloth.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Wipe dry using a soft cloth.

Before any cleaning or maintenance work is carried out, disconnect the cooker hood from the mains power supply. Ensure that it is switched off at the wall socket and the plug is withdrawn.

The surfaces and controls are susceptible to scratches and abrasions. Please observe the following cleaning instructions.

Only use a damp cloth as water could get into the unit and cause damage.

Do not use: cleaning agents containing soda, acids, chlorides or solvents, abrasive cleaning agents, e.g. powder cleaners or cream cleaners and abrasive sponges, as well as

pot scourers or sponges which have been used previously with abrasive cleaning agents as these will damage the surface material.

Acrylic Filters The acrylic filters in the appliance remove solid particles (acrylic, dust, etc.) from the kitchen vapours, preventing soiling of the cooker hood.

The acrylic filters should be replaced regularly (at least every 3 months) to avoid a build-up of acrylic.

1. Slide the two acrylic filter cover release buttons on the underside of the cooker hood inwards. The filter cover will be released downwards.

2. The thin acrylic filter is removed by releasing it from the U-shape metal hangers. Pull down the U-shaped hanger and remove the filter.

3. Replace the filter and lock the U-shaped hanger in position.

4. Fit the main filter cover by locating the rear pins in their slots. Push the cover upward and push the release buttons outward. It will click back into place.

Dirty filters are a fire hazard.

Be careful of the cover falling down. HOLD THE FILTER COVER BEFORE RELEASE. Please be careful when replacing and

handling the filter as sheet metal and sharp metal edges can cause injury if not handled with care.

Fitting and Replacing the Carbon Filter If the cooker hood is connected for recirculation, a carbon filter must be used.

5. Replace the filter cover.

Carbon filters are available as an optional extra.

1. Before fitting or replacing a carbon filter, the acrylic filters must first be taken out (see previous section for instructions on how to do this).

2. Take the carbon filter out of its packaging.

3. Install carbon filter.

First, take the filter cover down and take the U-shaped hangers out.

Filter cover

Take filter cover out

4. Put the carbon filter in position. Put the U-shaped hangers back into its position.

Replace the carbon filter when it no longer absorbs kitchen odours effectively. It should, however, be replaced at least every 3 months to prevent a risk of fire.

C60SHDW_X15_IB_RC_160304_grace.indd 13 4/3/16 2:37 pm

14

Changing the Internal Light Allow the cooker hood to cool for at least 30 minutes after use before changing the light bulb.

1. Slide the acrylic filter cover release buttons off the underside of the cooker hood inwards. The filter cover will be released downwards.

2. Remove the old bulb by unscrewing it in an anti-clockwise direction.

3. Replace with a new bulb (E14 230V/40W) by screwing it in a clockwise direction. Make sure it is securely inserted in the bulb holder. Kindly note that your cooker hood is fitted with 2 x 40W (max.) bulbs.

4. Replace the filter cover.

Be careful of the cover falling down. HOLD THE FILTER COVER BEFORE RELEASE THE BUTTONS. Please be careful as sheet metal and sharp metal edges can cause injury if not handled with care.

Safety Distance Between Hob and Cooker hood

Min.700 mm

When planning the installation height of your cooker hood, the minimum safe distance between the top of a cooker or hob and the bottom of the cooker hood is 700mm.

Account should also be taken of the height of the person who will be using the hood most often. The person should have sufficient space to work comfortably at the hob, and also be able to reach the hood controls with ease.

Please be aware that if positioned too high, extraction will be inefficient.

C60SHDW_X15_IB_RC_160304_grace.indd 18 4/3/16 2:37 pm

19

Connection for Air Extraction

Only use smooth pipes or flexible hoses made from non-flammable materials for the extraction ducting. To achieve the greatest possible air extraction with the lowest noise level, please note the following:

To ensure efficient air extraction, the diameter of the exhaust ducting should not be less than 120mm.

If flat ducting is being used, the cross-sectional area must not be smaller than the cross sectional area of the exhaust connection.

All ducting, pipework and fittings must be made of non-flammable materials.

The exhaust ducting should be as short and straight as possible.

Only use wide radius bends.

The exhaust ducting should not be kinked or compressed.

Ensure that all connections are strong and airtight.

Where ducting is horizontal, it must be laid to slope away at least 1cm per metre. This is to ensure that condensate cannot drain back into the cooker hood.

If the exhaust ducting is to run through rooms, ceiling space etc. where there may be great variations in temperature between the different areas, the problem of condensation will need to be addressed. The exhaust ducting will need to be suitably insulated.

To avoid the danger of toxic fumes, please observe the safety warnings. This is especially crucial when using the cooker hood at the same time as another heating appliance

which relies on air from the same room. The cooker hood should be installed according to the local and national building regulations. Seek

approval from the building inspector where necessary.

Screw the keyhole positioned screws into your wall or kitchen cupboard so that the top surface of the screw head is approximately 4mm from the surface you are screwing to.

2. Make a 130mm hole on the top of your cabinet. You will have to use a jigsaw to cut a 130mm diameter hole in the kitchen cupboard. It is recommended that a qualified person, experienced in fitting cooker hoods, is consulted before installation.

3. Use the card template supplied to mark the position of the fixing screws.

4. If you are going to rear-mount the cooker hood, the screws and wall plugs supplied should only be used in a (plastered) brick, breeze block or blockwork wall. They are not suitable for lath and plaster walls or stud and plasterboard walls. Consult a qualified builder for advice on fixing to these types of walls. If you are top fixing the cooker hood to a kitchen cupboard, use the screws provided.

5. The keyhole slots are designed so the cooker hood locates over the larger area of the hole and is then pushed back, or dropped down onto the smaller area of the hole.

Two extra security screws are used to ensure the unit is secure and isnt accidentally pushed off the keyhole slots.

6. If you are rear mounting the unit, drill all four holes and fit the wall plugs, but dont fit the two security screws until the unit is in place.

If you are top mounting the unit; drill a 130mm diametre and four 5mm diametre holes as per the picture or the card template. Using the 4 35mm screws; washers and M4 nuts to fix the cooker hood to a kitchen cupboard.

7. Check that your fixings are correctly located, by temporarily fitting the cooker hood. If correct, remove the protective film (if available).

8. Fit the air outlet adaptor in the hole in the cooker hood. Some of the black plastic tabs of the adaptor should be pushed through the hole, while others remain above. This locks the adaptor in place.
