IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be taken to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and/or injury to persons, including the following:

1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS.

2. Always unplug from outlet when either the appliance or display clock is not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning the appliance.

3. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles and knobs.

4. To protect against electric shock, do not place cord, plug, or base unit in water or other liquids.

5. This appliance should not be used by or near children or individuals with certain disabilities.

6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest Cuisinart Repair Center for examination, repair, and electrical or mechanical adjustment.

7. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by Cuisinart may cause injuries.

9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.

11. Always fill water reservoir first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, push the Off button, then remove plug from wall outlet.

12. Do not use appliance for anything other than its intended use.

13. Snap lid securely onto carafe before serving any beverages.

14. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycle.

15. The glass carafe is designed for use with this coffeemaker only. It must never be used on the range top.

16. Do not set a hot carafe on a wet or cold surface.

17. Do not use a cracked carafe or a carafe having a loose or weakened handle.

18. Do not clean carafe or heating plate with cleaners, steel wool pads, or other abrasive materials.

20. Do not place cloth beneath coffeemaker or otherwise restrict airflow.

21. Use only the Cuisinart Gold-Tone Commercial-Style Filter or standard basket- style paper filter with this unit. Other gold- tone permanent filters may cause the coffeemaker to overflow.

22. Do not operate your appliance in an appliance garage or under a wall cabinet. When storing in an appliance garage, always unplug the unit from the electrical outlet. Not doing so could create a risk of fire, especially if the appliance touches the walls of the garage or the door touches the unit as it closes.

The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of dangerous uninsulated voltage within the products enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of fire or electric shock to persons.

SPECIAL CORD SET INSTRUCTIONS A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.

Longer extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use.

If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the extension cord must be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance, and the longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop, where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

NOTICE This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way.

OPERATING NOTICE Clogging and backing up of water and/or coffee in the filter basket can occur under any or a combination of any of the following conditions: the use of too finely ground coffee; using two or more paper filters; using the gold-tone filter in conjunction with a paper filter; not properly cleaning coffee grounds from the gold-tone filter; or allowing coffee grounds to spill over the filter.

Caution: Never open the filter basket during the brewing cycle, even if no water is draining from the filter basket, since extremely hot water/coffee can spill out from the filter basket and cause injury. If water/coffee is not draining from the filter basket during the brewing cycle, unplug the unit and wait 10 minutes before opening and checking the filter basket.

UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS 1. Place the box on a large, sturdy, flat surface.

2. Remove the instruction book and any other literature.

3. Turn the box so that the back side of the coffeemaker is down and slide the coffeemaker from the box.

4. After the coffeemaker has been removed, place the box out of the way and lift off the packing material.

5. Grasp the carafe by its handle, remove it from the heating plate, and remove the polybag.

6. Remove the polybag covering the coffeemaker.

Save all packing materials in case you have to ship the machine in the future.

KEEP ALL PLASTIC BAGS AWAY FROM CHILDREN.

THE QUEST FOR THE PERFECT CUP OF COFFEE

ELEMENT 1: WATER Coffee is 98% water. The quality of that water is as important as the quality of your coffee. If water doesnt taste good from the tap, it wont taste good in your coffee. Cuisinart includes a charcoal water filter to remove chlorine, bad tastes and odors for the purest coffee flavor, every time you brew.

ELEMENT 2: COFFEE While coffee is 98% water, the flavor comes from the beans. To achieve the same great taste you enjoy at a coffee bar, you need to use the same quality of coffee. If you choose to grind your own beans, buy them fresh and whole. Buy only about a two-week supply at a time, because once the bean is broken, its flavor degrades quickly.

ELEMENT 3: GRIND The grind is critical for proper flavor extraction. If the grind is too fine, overextraction and bitterness will result. Too fine a grind may also clog the filter. If the grind is too coarse, the water will pass through too quickly and the maximum flavor will not be extracted. When grinding your own beans, we recommend a medium-fine grind.

ELEMENT 4: PROPORTION Coffee that is too strong or too weak is always a disappointment. Follow the recommended portions for ground coffee in the instructions under Brewing Coffee, and later adjust the amount to suit your taste.

ENJOY THE 2-IN-1 COFFEE PLUS

Your Coffee PLUS system is designed to let you use the coffeemaker and Hot Water System separately or at the same time. Its perfect for every occasion.

PROGRAMMING YOUR COFFEEMAKER SETTING THE CLOCK When the coffeemaker is plugged in, 12:00 will flash in the display for 10 seconds, indicating the unit is in Clock Set mode. If 12:00 stops flashing, simply press and hold the Hour or Minute button to return to flashing Clock Set mode.

SETTING HOURS AND MINUTES Press either button to select the desired time. Hold buttons down to scroll through the digits quickly, or press and release to advance one digit at a time. Be sure the PM indicator is on if setting a PM time.

SETTING THE BREW START TIME 1. Press and hold the Prog Button

for 2 seconds. The LED indicator and digital display will flash the default (12:00) or previously selected time. Follow directions under Setting the Clock (above) to program your brew start time. 5 seconds after finishing, the unit will automatically exit Auto On Setup mode and the indicator light will illuminate, letting you know automatic brew start is activated.

NOTE: To exit automatic brew start setup mode, you can also just press the Prog button again.

2. To activate automatic brew start using previously selected time: Press the Prog button. Previously set time will appear and indicator will light up. Display will return to clock setting. The Brew/Off/Auto Off indicator light will come on when brew cycle begins. The indicator light will turn off when the keep warm cycle ends.

3. To deactivate automatic brew start: Press illuminated Prog button; light will go off, indicating mode is turned off.

SETTING THE AUTO OFF TIME 1. Press and hold the Brew/Off/Auto Off

button for 2 seconds. The LED indicator and digital display will flash the programmed Auto Off default (2:00) or previously selected time. Follow directions under Setting the Clock to program coffeemaker to shut off from 0 to 4 hours after brew cycle is finished.

2. To exit/confirm Auto Off time setting: Do not touch any buttons. Auto Off setup mode will be exited automatically after 5 seconds.

NOTE: Once the coffeemaker enters the keep warm cycle, the Carafe Temp button will illuminate. Press Carafe Temp button to adjust warming plate temperature to Low, Medium or High to keep freshly brewed coffee at the temperature you prefer. NOTE: This can also be done before or during brewing.

BEFORE FIRST USE We recommend flushing out both the coffeemaker and Hot Water System before first use.

Coffeemaker: Fill the reservoir with cold water and follow the directions for Brewing Coffee. DO NOT ADD COFFEE!

Hot Water System: Fill the reservoir to the max fill line and follow directions under. Using the Hot Water System.

Once the system flush is complete, your Coffee PLUS system is ready to brew and heat water so you can enjoy Cuisinart at its best!

BREWING COFFEE Follow instructions in Before First Use on previous page. 1. Insert charcoal water filters

Follow directions for the preparation and insertion of the filters at left.

2. Fill the coffeemaker water reservoir Open the water reservoir cover by lifting it up. Pour in the desired amount of water using the water level indicator located at the side of the coffeemaker.

3. Add the ground coffee Lift the coffeemaker lid to access the filter basket. Remove the filter basket by grasping the handle and lifting straight up. Insert a #4 paper filter or permanent filter. Be sure that a paper filter is completely open and fully inserted in the basket. It may help to fold and flatten the seams of a paper filter beforehand. Add 1 level scoop of ground coffee per cup. Adjust the amount according to taste.

NOTE: The maximum capacity for ground coffee is 15 tablespoons for this coffeemaker. Exceeding this amount may cause overflow if the coffee is too finely ground.

Replace the filter basket in the filter basket holder and press firmly on cover to be sure it closes securely.

CHARCOAL WATER FILTERS Your coffeemaker comes with two charcoal water filters (one for the coffeemaker and one for the Hot Water System) that eliminate chlorine, bad tastes and odors from tap water.

Inserting the Water Filters

Remove the filters from the polybags and soak them, fully immersed, in cold tap water for 15 minutes.

Lift the water filter holders out of the water reservoirs from the Coffeemaker side and Hot Water System side (see diagram, page 5).

Press down on each filter compartment and pull toward you to open.

Place filters into the holders and snap closed. Be careful improper placement can tear the filter skin.

Flush filters by running cold tap water through holes in bottom of compartments for 10 seconds.

Allow the filters to drain completely.

Slide each water filter holder back into the channel of the appropriate water reservoir, pushing each down to the base of the unit.

NOTE: We recommend changing the water filters every 60 days or after 60 uses, and more often if you have hard water.

4. Position carafe and plug in unit Place carafe on heating plate and be sure the coffeemaker lid and water reservoir cover are closed. Plug coffeemaker into an electrical outlet.

5. Set preferences

a. Push the 14 Cup button if you are brewing fewer than 5 cups.

b. Turn the Carafe Temp button to Low (L), Medium (M), or High (H) and heater plate will keep coffee at the temperature you select.

6. Start Brewing Press the Brew/Off/Auto Off button to begin brewing.

7. After brewing When the brewing cycle has been completed, 5 beeps will sound. Coffee will continue to stream from the filter for several seconds.

NOTE: Reservoir cover may be hot during and directly after brewing. Wait at least 10 minutes before opening.

USING THE HOT WATER SYSTEM Follow instructions in Before First Use on page 7. 1. Insert charcoal water filter

Follow directions for the preparation and insertion of the filter on page 8.

2. Fill the hot water reservoir Open the water reservoir cover by lifting it up. Fill the hot water reservoir with water, making sure not to fill above the max fill line.

3. Heating Press the Hot Water On/Off button. The Hot Water On/Off button indicator light will illuminate. The Water Ready indicator will flash while the unit is heating. Once the unit has heated, the Water Ready indicator will become solid.

4. Dispensing water To dispense water, be sure the safety switch, which is located below the dispensing lever, is in the unlocked position. Simply slide the safety switch to the left to unlock. Then place a cup on the drip tray and press the lever down the unit dispenses up to 13 ounces of hot water at a time. If desired, return the safety lock to the locked position (to the right) after dispensing water.

NOTE: You can remove the drip tray to accommodate tall mugs.

5. After dispensing The heater will immediately begin heating more water. The Water Ready indicator will again flash until water reaches serving temperature.

NOTE: The Add Water indicator will appear in the display if more water is needed.

6. Turning off Hot Water System To turn off your Hot Water System at any time, press the Hot Water On/Off button. The indicator will turn off, but the Water Ready indicator will remain lit until water has cooled below serving temperature.

BREW PAUSE FEATURE This feature interrupts the flow of coffee from the basket to let you pour that first cup mid- brew. Because the flavor profile of coffee brewed at the start of a cycle differs from that brewed toward the end, be aware that using this feature will weaken the flavor strength of the finished pot.

NOTE: Removing carafe for more than 20 seconds may cause filter basket to overflow.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE Always turn unit off and remove the plug from the electrical outlet before cleaning.

Lift up the coffeemaker reservoir cover. Remove and discard the paper filter and ground coffee. If using a permanent filter, remove and discard coffee. The filter basket and permanent filter can be washed in warm, soapy water and rinsed thoroughly, or cleaned in the upper rack of the dishwasher. Dry all parts after use.

Do not put any water in the unit once the filter basket has been removed. Wipe the area under the filter basket with a damp cloth.

Remove the carafe from the heating plate. Discard any remaining coffee. The carafe and lid can be washed in warm, soapy water and rinsed thoroughly or placed in a dishwasher. The carafe and carafe lid should be placed on the upper rack only.

Do not use any scouring agents or harsh cleaners on any part of the coffeemaker.

Never immerse base unit in water or other liquids. To clean base, simply wipe with a clean, damp cloth and dry before storing. Fingerprints and other blemishes on the housing can be washed off with soap and water or a nonabrasive cleaning solution. Wipe heater plate with a clean, damp cloth. Never use rough, abrasive materials or cleansers to clean the heater plate. Do not dry the inside of the water reservoir with a cloth, as lint may remain.

Maintenance: Any other servicing should be performed by an authorized service representative.

EMPTYING THE HOT WATER RESERVOIR If your Hot Water System has not been used for more than one week, or if you plan to store your Coffee PLUS unit, we suggest emptying the reservoir completely. Place it over the sink, and pull the water release tab from the bottom of the unit to drain the Hot Water System reservoir. Once empty, replace the release tab.

NOTE: Hot water reservoir should be emptied only when the unit is cool. To avoid injury, do not empty the reservoir when there is hot water in the unit.

DECALCIFICATION Decalcification refers to the removal of calcium deposits that form over time on the metal parts of the coffeemaker.

To Decalcify Your Coffeemaker For best performance from your coffeemaker, decalcify the unit from time to time. The frequency depends upon the hardness of your tap water and how often you use the coffeemaker. The flashing Clean light will indicate when unit should be cleaned.

If the Clean light begins to flash when the coffeemaker is turned on, it is telling you that the calcium buildup is interfering with the functioning of your coffeemaker and the flavor of your coffee. To clean, fill the water reservoir to capacity with a mixture of one-third white vinegar and two-thirds water. Press and hold the Clean button. When the Clean LED indicator flashes, the coffeemaker is in clean mode. Release the button. One cycle should be sufficient to adequately clean the coffeemaker. When the cycle is completed and the 5 beeps sound, the coffeemaker will shut off. Turn the coffeemaker on to see if the Clean light continues to flash. If it does, turn it off and then repeat the cleaning procedure with a fresh solution of vinegar and water.

If the Clean light no longer flashes, turn the coffeemaker off and then run one cycle of fresh cold water through the unit before using the unit again to brew coffee.

Notes on the Clean Function To exit clean mode, just press the Clean button again.

To Decalcify Your Hot Water System We recommend you clean your Hot Water System twice a year to remove any calcium residue from the heating element.

1. Dispense and dispose of any water in the reservoir until the Add Water displays on LCD.

2. Add 32 oz. of white vinegar to the Hot Water reservoir. Turn the unit on to heat the vinegar.

3. Dispense 16 oz. of vinegar and dispose. This will fill the inner tank.

4. Let the vinegar solution sit in the unit for 20 minutes. Do not dispense during this time.

5. After 20 minutes, turn the unit off and allow the hot vinegar to cool. Then drain the internal reservoir over a sink by removing the water release tab from the bottom of unit.

6. When vinegar has completely drained, replace tab.

7. Refill reservoir with water and drain the internal reservoir again (by removing tab at the bottom of the unit) to flush thoroughly. Replace tab.

NOTE: If water has a vinegar taste or smell, continue to fill and dispense water until taste or smell is gone.

This warranty is available to U.S. consumers only. You are a consumer if you own a Coffee PLUS 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker & Hot Water System that was purchased at retail for personal, family or household use. Except as otherwise required under applicable law, this warranty is not available to retailers or other commercial purchasers or owners. We warrant that your Coffee PLUS 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker & Hot Water System will be free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal home use for 3 years from the date of original purchase.

We recommend that you visit our website, https:// cuisinart.registria.com, for a fast, efficient way to complete your product registration. However, product registration does not eliminate the need for the consumer to maintain the original proof of purchase in order to obtain the warranty benefits. In the event that you do not have proof of purchase date, the purchase date for purposes of this warranty will be the date of manufacture.

CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS ONLY

California law provides that for In-Warranty Service, California residents have the option of returning a nonconforming product (A) to the store where it was purchased or (B) to another retail store that sells Cuisinart products of the same type. The retail store shall then, according to its preference, either repair the product, refer the consumer to an independent repair facility, replace the product, or refund the purchase price less the amount directly attributable to the consumers prior usage of the product. If neither of the above two options results in the appropriate relief to the consumer, the consumer may then take the product to an independent repair facility, if service or repair can be economically accomplished. This warranty does not cover any damage caused by accident, misuse, shipment or other than ordinary household use. This warranty excludes all incidental or consequential damages. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of these damages, so these exclusions may not apply to you. You may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.

MEDIDAS DE SEGURIDAD IMPORTANTES Al usar aparatos elctricos, siempre se deben tomar precauciones bsicas de seguridad para reducir el riesgo de incendio, descarga elctrica o lesiones personales, entre ellas las siguientes:

1. LEA TODAS LAS INSTRUCCIONES.

2. Siempre desenchufe el aparato cuando este o el reloj no estn en uso, y antes de limpiarlo. Permita que se enfre antes de instalar/sacar piezas y antes de limpiarlo.

3. No toque las superficies calientes; use los mangos/asas/agarraderas y los botones/ perillas.

4. Para reducir el riesgo de descarga elctrica, no sumerja el cable, el enchufe ni la base del aparato en agua ni en ningn otro lquido.

5. Este aparato no debe ser usado por o cerca de nios o personas con ciertas discapacidades.

6. No use este aparato si el cable o el enchufe estn daados, despus de un mal funcionamiento, despus de una cada, o si est daado; devulvalo a un centro de servicio autorizado para su revisin, reparacin o ajuste (elctrico o mecnico).

18. No limpie la jarra ni la placa calentadora con limpiadores abrasivos, lana de acero u otros materiales abrasivos.

21. Use solamente el filtro dorado permanente Cuisinart o filtros de papel estndares con este aparato. Otros filtros permanentes pueden provocar un derrame.

22. No haga funcionar el aparato debajo o dentro de un armario/gabinete. Siempre desenchufe el aparato antes de guardarlo en un armario/gabinete. Dejar el aparato enchufado representa un riesgo de incendio, especialmente si este toca las paredes o la puerta del armario/gabinete cuando se cierra

ADVERTENCIA: RIESGO DE INCENDIO O DESCARGA ELCTRICA

USO DE ALARGADORES El cable provisto con este aparato es corto, para reducir el riesgo de que alguien se enganche o tropiece con un cable ms largo.

Se puede usar un cable alargador/de extensin, siempre que respete las precauciones siguientes.

La clasificacin nominal del cable alargador/de extensin debe ser por lo menos igual a la del aparato. El cable ms largo debe ser acomodado de tal manera que no cuelgue de la encimera/ mesa, donde puede ser jalado por nios o causar tropiezos.

AVISO El cable de este aparato cuenta con un enchufe polarizado (una pata es ms ancha que la otra). Como medida de seguridad, aquel enchufe se podr enchufar de una sola manera en las tomas de corriente polarizadas. Si el enchufe no entra en la toma de corriente, invirtalo. Si aun as no entra completamente, comunquese con un electricista. No intente modificarlo.

IMPORTANTE Algunas condiciones pueden producir un atascamiento del agua o del caf en el portafiltros y provocar un derrame. Para evitar que esto ocurra, no muela el caf demasiado fino, no use ms de un filtro de papel a la vez (o un filtro permanente al mismo tiempo que un filtro de papel), limpie cuidadosamente el filtro dorado, y no sobrellene el filtro.

Precaucin: Nunca abra la tapa durante la preparacin, aunque lquido no est bajando, ya que agua o caf muy calientes pueden rebosar del portafiltros y causar quemaduras. Si el caf no se escurre debidamente durante la preparacin, desenchufe el aparato y espere 10 minutos antes de abrir la tapa y examinar el portafiltros.

INSTRUCCIONES DE DESEMBALAJE 1. Ponga la caja sobre una superficie

espaciosa, plana y segura.

2. Retire el manual de instrucciones y otros folletos de la caja.

3. Voltee la caja para que repose en su lado y retire la cafetera.

4. Aleje la caja y levante el material de embalaje.

5. Agarre la jarra por el asa, y retrela de la placa y de la bolsa protectora.

6. Quite la bolsa protectora que envuelve la cafetera.

Se recomienda conservar el material de embalaje para su uso futuro.

MANTENGA LAS BOLSAS DE PLSTICO FUERA DEL ALCANCE DE LOS NIOS.

SUGERENCIAS PARA LA PREPARACIN DE UN BUEN CAF

ELEMENTO 1: EL AGUA El caf est constituido por un 98 % de agua. Por lo tanto, la calidad del agua es tan importante como la del caf. Si el agua tiene mal sabor, el caf tendr mal sabor. Por eso Cuisinart equip su cafetera con un filtro de agua de carbn que elimina el cloro y el mal sabor y olor, para preparar caf puro, taza tras taza.

ELEMENTO 2: EL CAF Aunque un 98 % del brebaje es agua, el sabor proviene del caf. Para preparar un brebaje de calidad, debe usar ingredientes de calidad. Elija caf fresco, en granos enteros. Compre un suministro de aprox. dos semanas a la vez, no ms, porque una vez molidos los granos, su sabor se deteriora rpidamente.

ELEMENTO 3: EL GRADO DE LA MOLIENDA La molienda es primordial para preservar el sabor del caf. Caf molido muy fino producir un caf amargo. Tambin puede atascar el filtro. Caf molido muy grueso dejar pasar el agua demasiado rpidamente, lo que producir un caf aguado. Se recomienda usar un grado de molienda medio-fino.

ELEMENTO 4: LAS PROPORCIONES Para que el caf sea perfecto, ni muy dbil ni muy fuerte, se debe usar la proporcin adecuada de caf y agua. Siga las pautas en la seccin INSTRUCCIONES DE USO y ajuste las proporciones al gusto.

CONTROLES DE LA CAFETERA 1. Pantalla 1a. Indicadores de temperatura de la placa

calentadora: L (bajo), M (medio), H (alto).

1b. Indicadores PM (hora despus de las 12 del da) y ADD WATER (agregar agua).

2. Botones HR (horas) y MIN (minutos) Permiten fijar la hora, la hora de encendido automtico y el tiempo de apagado automtico.

3. Botn PROG (programacin) Permite programar la hora de encendido automtico. Tambin activa el encendido automtico.

4. Botn CARAFE TEMP (temperatura de la placa) Permite ajustar la temperatura de la placa calentadora para que su caf siempre est a la temperatura perfecta. Elija entre L (baja), M (media) o H (alta).

5. Botn 14 (funcin 1 a 4 tazas) con indicador luminoso Optimiza el sabor y la temperatura del caf cuando prepare menos de 5 tazas.

6. Botn CLEAN (descalcificar) con indicador luminoso Se enciende cuando sea necesario descalificar la cafetera para eliminar los depsitos de sarro.

7. Botn BREW OFF/AUTO OFF (encendido/apagado y apagado automtico) Permite encender y apagar la unidad, y programar el tiempo de apagado automtico. Tambin permite programar el tiempo de apagado automtico, desde 0 hasta 4 horas despus del final del ciclo de preparacin.

DISFRUTE DE SU CAFETERA 2 EN 1 COFFEE PLUS

La cafetera Coffee PLUS ha sido diseada para preparar caf y servir agua caliente, por separado o al mismo tiempo. Es perfecta para cualquier ocasin.

PROGRAMACIN CMO FIJAR LA HORA Al enchufar la cafetera, 12:00 (la hora por defecto) aparecer en la pantalla, parpadeando. Si deja de parpadear, mantenga presionado el botn HR o MIN para volver al modo de fijacin de la hora.

CMO FIJAR LA HORA Y LOS MINUTOS Presione el botn HR para fijar la hora y el botn MIN para fijar los minutos. Mantenga presionado el botn para desplazarse por las horas o los minutos ms rpidamente, o presione el botn repetidamente para avanzar en incrementos de una hora o de un minuto. Compruebe que el indicador PM aparezca en la pantalla cuando fije una hora de tarde/noche.

CMO FIJAR LA HORA DE ENCENDIDO AUTOMTICO 1. Mantenga presionado el botn PROG por

2 segundos; la hora por defecto (12:00) o la hora previamente fijada aparecer en la pantalla, parpadeando.

Siga las instrucciones de la seccin CMO FIJAR LA HORA para programar la hora de encendido automtico deseada. Cinco segundos despus de terminar la programacin, la unidad saldr automticamente del modo de programacin y el indicador luminoso se iluminar para indicar que el encendido automtico ha sido activado.

NOTA: Para salir del modo de programacin en cualquier momento, simplemente presione nuevamente el botn PROG otra vez.

2. Para activar el encendido automtico usando una hora previamente fijada: Presione el botn PROG; la hora previamente fijada aparecer en la pantalla y el indicador luminoso se iluminar. Luego, la hora regular aparecer en la pantalla. El indicador del botn BREW/OFF/AUTO OFF se encender cuando empiece el ciclo de preparacin. Se apagar al final del ciclo mantener caliente.

3. Para desactivar la preparacin automtica: Presione el botn PROG iluminado; la luz se apagar, lo que indica que el modo ha sido desactivado.

CMO PROGRAMAR EL TIEMPO DE APAGADO AUTOMTICO 1. Mantenga presionado el botn BREW/

OFF/AUTO OFF por 2 segundos; el tiempo por defecto (2 horas) o el tiempo de apagado automtico previamente fijado aparecer en la pantalla, parpadeando.

Use los botones HR y MIN para programar otro tiempo de apagado automtico, desde 0 hasta 4 horas despus del final del ciclo de preparacin.

2. Para salir del modo de programacin y confirmar el tiempo de apagado automtico: No toque ningn botn; la unidad saldr del modo de programacin automticamente despus de 5 segundos.

NOTA: El indicador luminoso del botn CARAFE TEMP (temperatura de la placa) se iluminar cuando la cafetera ingrese al ciclo mantener caliente. Presione repetidamente el botn CARAFE TEMP para ajustar la temperatura de la placa a la temperatura deseada, L (baja), M (media) o H (alta), y mantener el caf fresco a la temperatura que prefiera. NOTA: Tambin puede hacer esto antes o durante la preparacin.

ANTES DEL PRIMER USO Se recomienda limpiar el sistema interno de la cafetera y del dispensador de agua caliente antes del primer uso.

Cafetera: Llene el depsito de agua con agua fra y siga las instrucciones de la seccin OPERACIN DE LA CAFETERA, PERO SIN USAR CAF!

Dispensador de agua caliente: Llene el depsito de agua hasta la lnea MAX y siga las instrucciones de la seccin INSTRUCCIONES DE USO DEL DISPENSADOR DE AGUA CALIENTE. Ahora, puede disfrutar de una sabrosa taza de caf, t o chocolate 100 % Cuisinart!

INSTRUCCIONES DE USO DE LA CAFETERA Siga las instrucciones detalladas en la seccin ANTES DEL PRIMER USO. 1. Instale los filtros de agua de carbn

Siga las instrucciones de preparacin e instalacin de los filtros a la izquierda.

2. Llene el depsito de agua de la cafetera Abra la tapa del depsito. Agregue agua hasta el nivel deseado, fijndose en las marcas en el costado de la unidad.

3. Agregue caf molido Levante la tapa de la cafetera para acceder al portafiltros. Agarre el portafiltros por el asa y levntelo. Instale un filtro de papel n. 4 o un filtro permanente Cuisinart. Compruebe que el filtro est completamente abierto y correctamente instalado. Puede resultar til doblar y aplanar las costuras del filtro de papel de antemano. Agregue 1 cucharada llena de caf molido por taza (145 ml) de caf. Ajuste la cantidad de caf molido a gusto.

NOTA: Esta cafetera tiene una capacidad mxima de 15 cucharadas de caf molido. No exceda esta cantidad; esto podra provocar un derrame, especialmente si el caf ha sido molido muy fino.

Vuelva a colocar el portafiltros en su sitio y presione firmemente la tapa para asegurarse de que est bien cerrada.

FILTROS DE AGUA DE CARBN Su cafetera cuenta con dos filtros de carbn (una para la cafetera y otra para el dispensador de agua caliente) que eliminan el cloro y el mal olor y sabor del agua corriente.

Instalacin de los filtros de agua

Retire los filtros de sus envoltorios y remjelos en agua fra por 15 minutos.

Retire los soportes ubicados en los depsitos de agua de la cafetera y del dispensador de agua caliente (vase el diagrama en la pgina 5).

Abra los soportes.

Instale los filtros en los soportes y cierre estos. Importante: Haga esto con mucho con cuidado; si no instala el filtro de manera correcta, la membrana del filtro puede romperse.

Enjuague los filtros en agua fra por 10 segundos para limpiarlos, con las aberturas directamente bajo el flujo de agua.

Permita que los filtros se sequen por completo.

Vuelva a colocar cada soporte de filtro en el depsito adecuado, empujndolos hasta el fondo.

NOTA: Se recomienda cambiar los filtros de agua cada 60 das o 60 usos, o ms frecuentemente si el agua es dura.

4. Coloque la jarra en la placa y enchufe la unidad Coloque la jarra en la placa calentadora, cerciorndose de que la tapa de la cafetera y la tapa del depsito de agua estn cerradas. Enchufe el cable en una toma de corriente.

5. Fije sus preferencias

a. Si desea preparar menos de 5 tazas de caf, presione el botn 14.

b. Ponga el control de temperatura de la placa calentadora en el nivel deseado: L (baja), M (media) o H (alta).

6. Empiece la preparacin Presione el botn BREW/OFF/AUTO OFF para empezar la preparacin.

7. Despus de la preparacin El aparato emitir 5 pitidos al final del ciclo de preparacin. El caf seguir bajando del filtro por varios segundos.

NOTA: Puede que la tapa del depsito de agua est caliente durante e inmediatamente despus de la preparacin; permita que se enfre por un mnimo de 10 minutos antes de abrir el depsito de agua.

INSTRUCCIONES DE USO DEL DISPENSADOR DE AGUA CALIENTE Siga las instrucciones detalladas en la seccin ANTES DEL PRIMER USO. 1. Instale el filtro de agua de carbn

Siga las instrucciones de preparacin e instalacin del filtro en la pgina anterior.

2. Llene el depsito de agua del dispensador de agua Abra la tapa del depsito. Agregue agua hasta el nivel deseado, sin pasarse de la lnea MAX.

3. Caliente el agua Presione el botn HOT WATER ON/OFF; el indicador luminoso del botn HOT WATER ON/OFF se encender. El indicador WATER READY (agua lista) empezar a parpadear. Una vez caliente el agua, permanecer encendido.

4. Sirva el agua Para servir agua, compruebe que el botn de bloqueo de seguridad ubicado debajo de la palanca dispensadora est en la posicin UNLOCK. De no ser as, simplemente deslcelo hacia la izquierda. Ponga una taza debajo del pico dispensador y baje la palanca dispensadora. La unidad puede servir hasta 13 oz (385 ml) de agua caliente a la vez. Si desea volver a asegurar la palanca, deslice el botn de bloqueo hacia la derecha (posicin LOCK).

NOTA: La rejilla de la bandeja de goteo puede retirarse para colocar tazas altas.

FUNCIN DE PAUSA AL SERVIR BREW PAUSE

La funcin Brew Pause (pausa al servir) permite sacar la jarra de la placa para servirse una taza de caf antes del final del ciclo de preparacin. Nota: Tenga presente que hacer esto cambiar el sabor y la intensidad final del caf, ya que el sabor y la intensidad cambian durante el ciclo de preparacin.

NOTA: La funcin Brew Pause detiene el flujo durante solamente 20 segundos; no deje la jarra fuera de la placa por ms tiempo o esto puede causar un derrame.

5. Despus de servir agua La resistencia empezar inmediatamente a calentar ms agua. El indicador WATER READY (agua lista) empezar a parpadear y permanecer encendido cuando el agua est caliente.

NOTA: Si el indicador de nivel bajo ADD WATER (agregar agua) aparece en la pantalla, agregue ms agua en el depsito.

6. Cmo apagar el dispensador de agua Simplemente presione el botn HOT WATER ON/OFF. El indicador luminoso del botn HOT WATER ON/OFF se apagar, pero el indicador WATER READY (agua lista) permanecer encendido hasta que el agua se haya enfriado.

LIMPIEZA Y MANTENIMIENTO Siempre apague y desenchufe el aparato antes de limpiarlo.

Abra el depsito de agua de la cafetera. Saque y tire el filtro de papel. Si ha usado el filtro dorado, retrelo y tire los posos de caf. El portafiltros puede lavarse a mano, con detergente y agua tibia, o en la bandeja superior del lavavajillas. Permita que todas las piezas se sequen.

No vierta agua en la unidad despus de haber retirado el portafiltros. Limpie el rea bajo el portafiltros con un pao hmedo.

Saque la jarra de la placa calentadora. Tire o refrigere el caf restante. Lave la jarra y la tapa de la jarra a mano, con agua tibia y detergente, o en la bandeja superior del lavavajillas.

No use productos o materiales abrasivos para limpiar el aparato.

No sumerja la base en agua ni en ningn otro lquido. Limpie la base con un pao hmedo y squela antes de guardar el aparato. Las huellas dactilares y otras manchas pueden quitarse con agua y detergente, o con una solucin limpiadora no abrasiva. Limpie la placa calentadora con un pao hmedo. Nunca use materiales speros o limpiadores abrasivos para limpiar la placa. No seque el interior del depsito de agua con un pao ya que esto puede dejar pelusas en el mismo.

Mantenimiento: Cualquier otro servicio debe ser realizado por un tcnico/representante de servicio autorizado.

CMO VACIAR EL DEPSITO DE AGUA DEL DISPENSADOR DE AGUA CALIENTE Se recomienda vaciar el depsito de agua del dispensador de agua caliente antes de guardar la unidad, o si el dispensador de agua caliente no ha sido usado por ms de una semana. Coloque el aparato por encima del fregadero y abra el tapn del depsito de agua caliente ubicado debajo de la unidad. Una vez vaco el depsito, cierre el tapn.

NOTA: Permita que el aparato se enfre antes de vaciar el depsito de agua. Para evitar las quemaduras, no vace el depsito mientras an hay agua caliente en la unidad.

DESCALCIFICACIN Con el tiempo, depsitos de calcio/sarro se acumulan en las partes metlicas de la cafetera.

Cmo descalcificar la cafetera Para lograr un rendimiento ptimo, descalcifique la unidad regularmente. La frecuencia de la descalcificacin depender de la dureza del agua y de la frecuencia de uso de la cafetera. Si el indicador luminoso del botn CLEAN empieza a parpadear, esto significa que hay que descalcificar el sistema interno de la cafetera, ya que el calcio/sarro puede afectar el desempeo de la cafetera y el sabor del caf. Para descalcificar la unidad: Llene el depsito de agua hasta la capacidad mxima con una mezcla de un tercio de vinagre y dos tercios de agua. Mantenga presionado el botn CLEAN. Cuando el indicador luminoso del botn CLEAN empiece a parpadear, la cafetera est en el modo de descalcificacin. Suelte el botn. Un ciclo debera ser suficiente para descalcificar la unidad. Al final del ciclo de descalcificacin (indicado por 5 pitidos), la cafetera se apagar. Encienda la cafetera. Si el indicador luminoso sigue parpadeando, haga un segundo ciclo de descalcificacin, usando una nueva solucin de agua con vinagre.

Si est apagado, repita estos pasos con un tanque de agua fresca para eliminar el olor a vinagre.

Cmo descalcificar el dispensador de agua caliente Se recomienda descalcificar el sistema interno del dispensador de agua caliente dos veces al ao.

1. Vace el depsito de agua del dispensado de agua o sirva agua hasta que el indicador ADD WATER (agregar agua) aparezca en la pantalla.

2. Vierta 32 oz (945 ml) de vinagre blanco en el depsito de agua del dispensador de agua. Encienda la unidad para calentar el vinagre.

3. Sirva 16 oz (475 ml) de vinagre en un vaso; esto llenar el depsito interno.

4. Deje el vinagre actuar por 20 minutos. No sirva nada durante este tiempo.

5. Despus de 20 minutos, apague el aparato y permita que el vinagre caliente se enfre. Vace el depsito, quitando el tapn ubicado debajo de la unidad.

6. Una vez vaco el depsito, cierre el tapn.

7. Llene el depsito con agua, y luego vacelo otra vez, quitando el tapn ubicado debajo de la unidad. Vuelva a cerrar el tapn.

NOTA: Si el agua tiene olor o sabor a vinagre, contine llenando el depsito con agua y sirviendo agua hasta que el olor o el sabor a vinagre hayan desaparecido.
