3. The air purifier should always be placed on a flat, secure surface. 4. The cord should be kept away from any heated surfaces. 5. Never place or store the air purifier where it could fall or be pulled into a

sink or bathtub. 6. Do not reach for the air purifier if it has fallen into water. Unplug the

appliance immediately. 7. Do not place in or drop into water or liquid. 8. Do not place anything on top of unit. 9. Always keep the air purifier dry and do not operate in wet or moist

conditions like bathrooms, laundry areas or similar moist indoor places. 10. Always unplug the air purifier when not in use. 11. Check your air purifier cord and plug connections. A faulty wall outlet or

loose plug can cause the outlet or plug to overheat. Make sure the plug fits tightly in outlet.

12. Do not run power cord under carpeting, runners or similar type floor coverings.

13. Do not use this product outdoors. 14. Do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on any soft

surface, like a couch or bed, where the openings may become blocked. 15. Do not tilt or move the air purifier while the unit is powered on. Make sure

the power is off and remove the plug from the outlet before moving. 16. Use this air purifier only for its intended use as described in this manual.

Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or serious injury to a person.

17. Press the power button to turn off the air purifier prior to removing plug from outlet.

FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY NOTICE This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug isintended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.

CAUTION This appliance is for household use. Any servicing other than cleaning and user maintenance should be performed by an authorized service representative.

Do not immerse base in water.

To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not disassemble the base. Note: The base does not contain any user-serviceable parts.

Make sure the air purifier is always 6 inches away from any walls as well as at least 3 feet away from any heat source.

Repairs should be made only by authorized personnel.

Check voltage to be sure that the voltage indicated on the nameplate agrees with your voltage.

Never clean with scouring powders or hard implements.

UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS Place the gift box containing your Cuisinart Purxium Air Purifier on a sturdy, flat surface. Open the top flap and remove the instruction booklet and other printed materials from the box. Remove all packing material from unit as well as plastic coverings from any parts.

INTRODUCTION Congratulations on your Cuisinart CAP-500 Purxium Air Purifier. The CAP-500 Air Purifier comes complete with dual filtration using two H13 high-grade HEPA filters, active carbon filters and removable, reusable metal pre-filters. Our three stage filter system will capture up to 99.9% of airborne particles 0.1 Micron or larger including bacteria and various contaminants to provide fresher, cleaner air.

TO OPERATE YOUR AIR PURIFIER 1. Place the air purifier on a sturdy, flat surface.

2. Make sure the unit is plugged in.

3. Turn On: Press the Power ON button.

4. 3 Fan Speeds: Select or change fan speed (choose 1, 2 or 3). Start by pressing the fan speed button, continue pressing until you have reached your desired setting, then release the button.

5. 12-Hour Timer Function: To select the desired time, press the timer button. The timer will show settings ranging from 1 hour 12 hours and off. If there is no time selected, the timer will be off. The unit will continue to run until the power is turned off.

6. Child Safety Lock: The child safety lock can be activated by pressing and holding the lock button for 3 seconds. All buttons on the air purifier will now be in locked mode. To take the unit off locked mode, simply hold the lock button again for 3 seconds and the unit will now be unlocked.

7. Sleep Mode/Night Light: To activate the night light press once. The blue night light will illuminate along with the control panel lights.To activate Sleep Mode. Press the icon a second time, and the Moon symbol will illuminate in addition to the night light. Press the icon one more and only the moon icon will be illuminated.

8. Filter Replacement Light: The filter replacement light will illuminate in RED when it is, it is time to replace the dual action HEPA H13 and active carbon filters on the unit. The filter light will illuminate after 2,500 hours of continuous use.

Note: Utilizing an H13 High-Grade HEPA filter does not make this a medical device.

REMOVING FILTERS

Always unplug your Cuisinart Purxium Air Purifier from the electrical outlet before replacing or removing filters.

To remove the Purxium Air Purifier filters, you will first need to unplug the unit and remove the back panel. To remove both side panels, place your finger into the opening on the side of the unit and pull lightly on the panel. The metal removable, reusable pre-filters may be removed easily by taking the small tab and pulling slightly up and away from the unit. To remove the H13 HEPA/Active Carbon filter system, you simply pull on the filter and remove from the unit. Repeat step on other side.

INSTALLING YOUR REPLACEMENT FILTER SYSTEM 1. Your air purifier will automatically tell you when its time to change your filter.

An icon on the control panel will illuminate after 2500 hours of purification has been reached.

2. Slide the new H13 HEPA/Active Carbon filter system into the unit until you feel resistance.

3. Place the washed and dried removable, reusable metal pre-filters into the slots. Place panels back onto the unit. Repeat step for other side.

4. Make sure your air purifier is plugged in and powered up. YOU WILL NOW NEED TO RESET THE FILTER INDICATOR.

5. Reset the filter indicator light by pressing and holding down the night light button for 3 seconds. This will reset the filter indicator light.

The CAP-500 quiet DC motor has a dual filter system that purifies air in an up to 500-sq. ft. area two times every hour or in an up to 250-sq. ft. area four times every hour.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE The H13 high-grade HEPA filters could be vacuumed once a month in order for the air purifier to perform at its best. If the air purifier contains dust or pet dander, its best to clean the removable metal pre-filters more often than once a month to maintain 2,500 hours of filter life. Always unplug your air purifier from the electrical outlet before replacing or removing any filters.

1. Unplug the power cord from the unit and from the outlet. The metal pre-filters are to be hand-washed only. If the filters are fairly clean, wash each filter with soapy, warm water. If the pre-filters are very dirty, you may need use a soft brush to gently clean them. Make sure the pre-filters are completely dry before placing back into the unit.

2. Remove the HEPA H13 and active carbon filters as described on page 4.

3. The best way to clean the HEPA H13 filters is to use a vacuum cleaner with the brush attachment. Gently run the brush attachment along the white side of the filter only. You do not need to vacuum the active carbon filter on the other side of the HEPA H13 filter.

You are a consumer if you own a Cuisinart Purxium Air Purifier that was purchased at retail for personal, family or household use. Except as otherwise required under applicable law, this warranty is not available to retailers or other commercial purchasers or owners. We warrant that your Cuisinart Purxium Air Purifier will be free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal home use for 3 years from the date of original purchase.

We recommend that you visit our website, www.cuisinart.com, for a fast, efficient way to complete your product registration. However, product registration does not eliminate the need for the consumer to maintain the original proof of purchase in order to obtain the warranty benefits. In the event that you do not have proof of purchase date, the purchase date for purposes of this warranty will be the date of manufacture.

CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS ONLY

California law provides that for In-Warranty Service, California residents have the option of returning a nonconforming product (A) to the store where it was purchased or (B) to another retail store that sells Cuisinart products of the same type. The retail store shall then, according to its preference, either repair the product, refer the consumer to an independent repair facility, replace the product, or refund the purchase price less the amount directly attributable to the consumers prior usage of the product. INSTRUCCIONES DE DESEMBALAJE Ponga la caja que contiene el purificador de aire Purxium de Cuisinart sobre una superficie plana y segura. El purificador de aire CAP-500 cuenta con un sistema de doble filtracin que usa dos filtros HEPA H13 de alto rendimiento, filtros de carbn activo y prefiltros metlicos removibles y reutilizables. Este sistema de filtracin en tres pasos captura hasta el 99.9 % de las partculas aerotransportadas de 0.1 MICRN o ms, incluso bacterias y varios contaminantes, para proporcionar aire ms fresco y ms limpio.

INSTRUCCIONES OPERACIN DE SU PURIFICADOR DE AIRE 1. Coloque la unidad sobre una superficie plana y segura.

2. Cercirese de que la unidad est enchufada.

3. Para encender: Presione el cono de encendido/apagado.

4. Tres velocidades de ventilacin: Para cambiar la velocidad de ventilacin: Mantenga presionado el cono del ventilador para elegir la velocidad de ventilacin deseada, 1, 2 o 3, luego suelte el cono del ventilador.

5. Temporizador de 12 horas: Para fijar el tiempo deseado, presione el cono del reloj. La pantalla mostrar las opciones de tiempo disponibles, desde 1 hora hasta 12 horas y OFF (temporizador apagado). Si no selecciona ningn tiempo, el temporizador estar apagado. La unidad seguir encendida hasta que la apague manualmente, presionando el cono de encendido/apagado.

6. Bloqueo de seguridad para nios: Para activar el bloqueo de seguridad para nios, mantenga presionado el cono del candado por 3 segundos. Todos los controles de la unidad estarn bloqueados. Para desactivar el modo de bloqueo de seguridad, mantenga presionado el cono del candado por 3 segundos.

7. Modo de ahorro de energa/Luz nocturna: Para activar la luz nocturna presione una vez. La luz nocturna azul se iluminar junto con las luces del panel de control. Para activar el modo de suspensin. Presione el cono por segunda vez y el smbolo de la Luna se iluminar adems de la luz nocturna. Pulsa el icono una vez ms y solo se iluminar el icono de la luna.

8. Indicador de cambio de los filtros: Si el cono Replace Filter se enciende de color ROJO, esto significa que es hora de cambiar el filtro de doble accin HEPA H13 y los filtros de carbn activo. El indicador de cambio de los filtros se encender despus de 2500 horas de uso continuo.

Nota: Usar un filtro HEPA H13 de alto rendimiento no convierte este aparato un dispositivo mdico.

REMOCIN DE LOS FILTROS

Siempre desenchufe la unidad antes de retirar o cambiar los filtros.

Antes de retirar los filtros, deber primero apagar y desenchufar la unidad, y retirar el panel trasero. Para retirar los paneles laterales, coloque el dedo en la abertura en el costado de la unidad y jale ligeramente el panel. Los prefiltros metlicos removibles y reutilizables pueden retirarse fcilmente agarrando la pequea lengeta y jalando ligeramente hacia arriba y fuera de la unidad. Para retirar el sistema de filtracin HEPA H13 /filtro de carbn activo, simplemente jale el filtro para sacarlo de la unidad. Repita estos pasos en el otro lado.

SISTEMA DE FILTRACIN DE REPUESTO. 1. Su purificador de aire le avisar automticamente cuando llegue el momento

de cambiar el filtro. El cono Replace Filter en el panel de control se encender despus de 2500 horas de purificacin del aire.

2. Deslice el nuevo sistema de filtracin HEPA H13/filtro de carbn activo en la unidad hasta que sienta resistencia.

3. Introduzca los prefiltros metlicos removibles y reutilizables (lavados y secos), en las ranuras. Vuelva a colocar los paneles en la unidad. Repita estos pasos en el otro lado.

4. Compruebe que el purificador de aire est enchufado y encendido. AHORA TENDR QUE REINICIAR EL INDICADOR DE CAMBIO DEL FILTRO.

5. Para reiniciar el indicador de cambio del filtro, mantenga presionando el cono de la luna por 3 segundos; el cono Change Filter se apagar.

CARACTERSTICAS Y ESPECIFICACIONES Nuestros filtros HEPA H13 de alto rendimiento capturan hasta el 99.9 % de las partculas aerotransportadas de 0.1 micrn o ms, incluso bacterias y varios contaminantes, as como el polvo, el polen, los olores de cocina, el humo, la capa de mascotas y los compuestos orgnicos voltiles. LIMPIEZA Y MANTENIMIENTO Los filtros HEPA H13 de alto rendimiento deben ser aspirados una vez al mes para que el purificador de aire funcione de manera ptima. Si nota que los filtros contienen polvo o caspa de mascotas, es recomendable limpiarlos ms de una vez al mes para mantener sus 2500 horas de vida. Siempre desenchufe la unidad antes de retirar o cambiar los filtros.

1. Desconecte el cable de la unidad y de la toma de corriente. Los prefiltros metlicos deben lavarse a mano solamente. Si los prefiltros no estn muy sucios, lave cada uno en el fregadero con agua tibia. Si estn muy sucios, use un cepillo suave para limpiarlos suavemente. Cercirese de dejar secar los prefiltros por completo antes de volver a colocarlos en la unidad.

2. Retire los filtros HEPA H13 y los filtros de carbn activo segn se describi en la seccin REMOCIN DE LOS FILTROS.

3. La mejor manera de limpiar los filtros HEPA H13 es aspirarlos con una aspiradora, usando el accesorio cepillo de la aspiradora. Pase suavemente el cepillo a lo largo del lado blanco del filtro solamente. No es necesario aspirar/limpiar el otro lado (o sea, el lado con el filtro de carbn activo) del filtro HEPA H13.
