INTRODUCTION & USE

Thank you for purchasing this CLARKE Insect Killer.

The CLARKE range of insect killers incorporate a pair of ultraviolet tubes which are easy to replace and use little power. The units are suitable for any indoor location and are easy to clean. Installation is by hanging from the chain supplied or by two screws into a suitable wall or partition. The appliance is switched on & off using the rocker switch on the front panel.

Flying insects are attracted to the ultraviolet tube, which is covered by a high voltage electric net which kills the insects on contact.

Before attempting to use this product, please read this manual thoroughly and follow the instructions carefully. In doing so you will ensure the safety of yourself and that of others around you, and you can look forward to your purchase giving you long and satisfactory service.

When unpacking, check for damage and /or shortages etc. Any found should be reported to your CLARKE dealer where the appliance was originally purchased.

GENERAL SAFETY RULES

7. Always disconnect from the mains supply before moving or performing any maintenance.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

Before switching the product on, make sure that the voltage of your electricity supply is the same as that indicated on the rating plate. This product is designed to operate on 230VAC 50Hz. Connecting it to any other power source may cause damage.

This product may be fitted with a non-rewireable plug. If it is necessary to change the fuse in the plug, the fuse cover must be refitted. If the fuse cover becomes lost or damaged, the plug must not be used until a suitable replacement is obtained.

If the plug has to be changed because it is not suitable for your socket, or due to damage, it should be cut off and a replacement fitted, following the wiring instructions shown below. The old plug must be disposed of safely, as insertion into a mains socket could cause an electrical hazard.

If the colours of the wires in the power cable of this product do not correspond with the markings on the terminals of your plug, proceed as follows.

The wire which is coloured Blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked N or coloured Black.

The wire which is coloured Brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked L or coloured Red.

The wire which is coloured Yellow and Green must be connected to the

terminal which is marked E or or coloured Green.

We strongly recommend that this machine is connected to the mains supply via a Residual Current Device (RCD)

If in any doubt, consult a qualified electrician. DO NOT attempt any repairs yourself.

MAINTENANCE

1. Unclip the tray from the frame and lift out for cleaning whenever required with soap and water. Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Remove dust from other parts with a vacuum cleaner.

2. Check the power cable to ensure it is sound and free from cracks, bare wires etc.

REPLACING THE ULTRAVIOLET TUBES AND STARTERS 1. Release the wire guard by removing the two securing screws/retainers and

swing open.

2. Carefully turn the ultraviolet tube one quarter of a turn anti-clockwise and lift it upwards from its holder.

3. Replace by carefully engaging the legs into the holder at each end and rotating clockwise.

4. The starters are removed from their sockets in the top section by turning through 90 degrees (with suitable pliers if needed) and pulling out. Ensure the replacements are of the correct specification (see below).
