Inspect the Dishwasher After unpacking the dishwasher and prior to installation, thoroughly inspect the dishwasher for possible freight or cosmetic damage. Report any damage immediately. Cosmetic defects must be reported within 30 days of installation.

After locating the proper place for your new dishwasher, you will need to create any required openings to allow for passage of the water, drain and electrical line. In order to avoid interference with the dishwasher when sliding it into the cabinet, place your openings within the dimensions shown in Figure 3 below.

Required Openings: 43/4 3/8 (120 x 60 mm) - To pass the included electrical supply junction box through to adjacent cabinet. Note: If the incoming electric supply, water supply and drain connections are all in the same cabinet, the one 43/4 3/8

hole will be large enough for all three to pass through.

Before sliding the dishwasher into the cabinet, remove the hose clip at the back of the dishwasher as shown in Figure 4. The hose clip may be used later to hold the drain hose as shown in Figure 10.

In select models, remove the rubber apron on top of the dishwasher and set aside for later use. See Figure 5. Figure 2

Enclosure Requirements

NOTE: This dishwasher is designed to be enclosed on the top and both sides by standard residential kitchen cabinetry.

Select a location as close to the sink as possible for easy access to water supply and drain lines. For proper dishwasher operation and appearance, ensure that the enclosure is square and has the dimensions shown in Figure 1 below.

NOTE: If your dishwasher opening width measures >235/8 (600mm) use the TOP or SIDE MOUNT mounting methods. If your dishwasher opening width measures 235/8 (600mm) use the ALTERNATE SIDE MOUNT mounting method.

If the dishwasher is to be installed in a corner, make sure that there is adequate clearance to open the door. See Figure 2 below.

WARNING Avoid Scalding or Electrical Shock Hazard!

Make sure the water supply and electrical supply are shut off before installation or service.

Electrical Supply The customer has the responsibility of ensuring that the dish- washer electrical installation is in compliance with all national and local electrical codes and ordinances. The dishwasher is designed for an electrical supply of 120V, 60 Hz, AC, connect- ed to a dishwasher-dedicated, properly grounded electrical cir- cuit with a fuse or breaker rated for 15 or 20 amps.

Grounding Instructions The dishwasher must be properly grounded before operat- ing. This appliance must be connected to a grounded metal permanent wiring system or an equipment grounding conductor must be run with the circuit conductors and connected to the equipment grounding terminal or lead on the dishwasher.

Do NOT use an extension cord.

Make sure that the dishwasher is connected to a suitable ground in compliance with all local codes or, in the absence of a local code, with the NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE in the United States or the CANADIAN ELECTRIC CODE C22.1- latest edition in Canada as well as any provincial/state or municipal or local codes that apply.

Note: Installations requiring hard wiring and terminal block - The accessory terminal block/junction box model, SMZPCJB1UC, designed for permanent wire connection, is not included but can be ordered through Customer Service by calling 1-800-944-2904. Follow the instructions included with the kit.

Place adhesive backed cord clip (provided in the installation kit) 2 inches from leg adjuster as shown in the figure above and route power cord through the clip. Note:The length of cord measured from the plastic back strap to the receptacle should be 47.25 (1,200 mm).

Plug the end of the supply cord into the back of the dishwasher.

The outlet for the power supply cord should be located in a cabinet or wall adjacent to the dishwasher cabinet. Do not plug dishwasher in until all the steps of installation are complete.

Note: Only use the included power cord. If cord is missing order kit SMZPC002UC through Customer Service.

Avoid Electrical Shock Hazard! Do not work on an energized circuit. Doing so could result in serious injury or death. Only qualified electricians should perform electrical work. Do not attempt any work on the dishwasher electric supply circuit until you are certain the circuit is de-energized.

To avoid possible injury or property damage, care should be exercised when the dishwasher is installed or removed to reduce the likelihood of damage to the power cord.

Avoid Fire Hazard! Make sure electrical work is properly installed and checked by qualified electricians. Make sure there are no loose electrical connections. Make sure all electrical connections are properly made.

Loose and improperly installed electrical connections can result in overheating! To avoid risk of fire, observe the following precautions:

Wall Socket Connections:

Only use the provided power cord for wall socket connections. DO NOT attach an extension cord or any type of modified cord or adapter with this appliance. DO NOT cut or splice the power cord. DO NOT alter the power cord in any way.

Permanent Wire Connections (in addition to the warnings above):

Only use the junction box power cord, sold as Accessory kit #SMZPCJB1UC. Carefully review the terminal block installation instructions. DO NOT remove, alter or bypass the terminal block.

Water Supply Shut Off Valve Install an easily accessible shut-off valve (not supplied) in the hot water supply line, as shown in Figure 9. All solder connections must be made before the water line is connected to the dishwasher.

Hot Water Supply The hot water heater should be set to deliver approximately 120 F (49 C) water to the dishwasher. Water that is too hot can cause some detergents to lose effectiveness. Lower water temperatures will increase run times. The hot water supply pressure must be between 15 - 145 psi (1 - 10 bar).

Connecting the Hot Water Supply There are two plastic corrugated hoses that exit the back of

to the manufacturers instructions. If the dishwasher drain hose is to be connected to a

disposer dishwasher drain connection, remove the plug from the disposers dishwasher drain connection.

For a large port, use the drain hose as it is. 1. For a small port, insert the rubber drain hose adaptor

into the drain hose end. 2. Obtain the Rubber Drain Hose Adaptor (J) spring clamp

from the Dishwasher Installation Kit (do not substitute). 3. Insert the dishwasher drain hose into the end of the

drain hose (see Figure 15). Be sure to fully insert the drain hose.

4. Use the clamp provided to attach the Rubber Drain Hose Adaptor to the house plumbing as shown in Figure 16.

Before installing the supplied countertop mounting brackets, decide which method of securing the dishwasher into its enclosure will be used. Once the mounting brackets are installed on the dishwasher, removing them is difficult and will damage the

mounting brackets and the dishwasher.

Side Mount is used for countertops made of marble, granite, or other very hard materials that cannot be easily drilled. Bend the mounting brackets along the small holes and in the same direction as the two small tabs. Orient the mounting brackets as shown in Figure 17, and position the two small tabs on the mounting brackets over the two slots on the

edge down as shown.

Top Mount is used for countertops made of wood or other materials that can be easily drilled. Orient the mounting brackets as shown in Figure 17 and position the two small tabs on the mounting brackets over the two slots on the

Your dishwasher comes with either a two-piece or three- piece toe panel (model dependent) to allow height adjust- ment. 1. Ensure the time projector is visible (depending on the

model). Also when attaching the toe panel, ensure the distances are in the correct ranges. See Figure 27.

4. Drive the two black screws (B) through the holes in the toe panel to secure. Use the supplied screws to avoid damaging the dishwasher. See Figure 28.

5. For models with a three-piece toe panel, the rubber apron removed earlier may now be attached and should remain behind the outermost toe panel.

6. For models with outer toe panel (3rd piece - L) slide the brackets (K) provided, into the slots of the toe panel you just attached.

7. Once you determine the correct position for the brackets, remove the bracket and bend the metal tab. See Figure 29. This ensures that the toe panel will not slide in further than you need.

8. Re-insert the brackets. 9. Attach the outer toe panel (L) onto the brackets and drive

the screws provided (F) in place to secure the toe panel ensuring that the rubber apron is completely hidden behind the outer toe panel.

Alimentation deau chaude Le chauffe-eau doit tre rgl de faon ce que leau qui alimente le lave-vaisselle soit chauffe une temprature approximative de 120 F (49 C). Si la temprature de leau est trop leve, elle diminue lefficacit du dtergent. Si la temprature de leau est trop basse, la dure de lavage sera plus longue. La pression dalimentation deau chaude doit tre comprise entre 15 et 145 psi (1 et 10 bars).

REMARQUE : En cas dutilisation dun joint de soudure au lieu dun

raccord compression, sassurer que toutes les soudures sont faites avant de brancher le tuyau dalimentation deau sur le lave-vaisselle.

Sassurer que la conduite deau nest ni plie ni tordue afin dviter toute obstruction de lcoulement de leau.

Toujours utiliser les joints appropris pour effectuer les raccordements sanitaires.

Avant de brancher le tuyau dalimentation deau sur le lave-vaisselle, faire couler leau de la conduite darrive pendant environ 5 minutes pour liminer les corps trang- ers.

Une fois les raccordements termins, ouvrir lalimentation deau et vrifier sil y a des fuites.
