In gravidanza.

1. Getting to know your device 1.1 What is the EMS pad? The innovative EMS Neck Pad is a self-adhesive EMS device that has been spe- cially developed for relaxing the neck and shoulder muscles. The device can be applied with accuracy thanks to the use of EMS technology. Made from medical- quality silicone rubber, the elegantly designed EMS pad is extremely slim and flex- ible and adapts perfectly to the area to be treated. The high-tech circuit provides energy-efficient treatments of 20 minutes each (up to 20 treatments per battery).

1.2 What is EMS and what can it do? Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) is a widespread and generally recognised method and has been used in sports medicine and rehabilitation for years. In sports and fitness, EMS is used to complement conventional muscle training, to increase the performance of muscle groups and to adjust physical proportions to achieve the desired aesthetic results. There are two different types of EMS application: One is for targeted strengthening of the muscles (activating application), and the other is to achieve a relaxing, restful effect (relaxing application). The activating application involves: Muscle training to increase endurance and/or Muscle training to support the strengthening of specific muscles or muscle groups,

and to achieve the desired changes to physical proportions. The relaxing application involves: Muscle relaxation for easing muscle tension. Improving symptoms of muscular fatigue. Acceleration of muscle regeneration after high muscle performance (e.g. af-

ter a marathon).

EMS devices work by passing electrical currents over the skin. The gel film is used as a transfer medium and is subject to natural wear and tear. The gel film must be replaced if it stops providing sufficient contact, as this will prevent the EMS pad from sticking to the skin. If it is not replaced, the partially increased current den- sity could irritate the skin.

1.3 Included in the delivery 1 x EMS pad 1 x self-adhesive gel film set 1 x 3 V CR2032 battery

Replacement items 1 x self-adhesive gel film set and 1 x battery, item no.: 647.17 When necessary, please contact Customer Services at the address provided in good time.

IMPORTANT! The EMS pad must only be used on people. For the intended purpose and as specified in these instructions for use. Any im-

proper use can be dangerous. For external use. Use only with the original accessories supplied, which can be re-ordered. Failure

to do so invalidates the warranty.

2. Important notes The device is not a substitute for medical consultation and treatment. Con- sult your doctor first if you are experiencing any pain or are suffering from an illness.

Instructions for application

WARNING! To avoid damage to health, we strongly advise against using the EMS pad in the following situations: If you have implanted electrical devices (e.g. a pacemaker). If you have metal implants. If you use an insulin pump. If you have a high temperature (e.g. > 39 C). If you have a known or acute cardiac arrhythmia, or disorders of the hearts im-

pulse and conduction system. If you suffer from a seizure disorder (e.g. epilepsy). If you are pregnant. If you have cancer. After an operation, if strong muscle contractions could affect the healing process. If you suffer from metabolic arthritis. The device must never be used near to the heart. The stimula-

tion electrodes must not be placed on any part of the front ribcage (where the ribs and breastbone are located), especially not on the two large pectorals. This can increase the risk of ventricular fibril- lation and induce cardiac arrest.

On the skeletal skull structure, or around the mouth, throat or larynx. In the neck area / carotid artery area / above the neck. In the genital area.

On acutely or chronically diseased (injured or irritated) skin (e.g. inflamed skin - whether painful or not, reddened skin, rashes, e.g. allergies, burns, bruises, swellings, both open and healing wounds, and post-operative scars where the healing process could be affected).

In humid environments (e.g. in the bathroom) or when bathing or showering. Do not use after consuming alcohol. Do not use if connected to a high-frequency surgical device. This unit is not intended for use by children or persons with physical, sensory

(e.g. insensitivity to pain) or mental impairments or those who do not know how to use it due to a lack of experience or knowledge, unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or have received instructions from them on how to use the unit.

For acute or chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

Before using the device, consult your doctor if any of the following ap- plies to you: Serious illnesses, in particular if you suspect or have been diagnosed with high

blood pressure, a blood coagulation disorder, propensity to thrombo-embolic conditions or recurrent malignant growths.

Skin diseases or open wounds. Unexplained chronic pain in any part of the body. Diabetes. Any sensory impairment that reduces the feeling of pain (e.g. metabolic disorders). If you are receiving medical treatment. If you are already having stimulation treatment for existing conditions. If you suffer from persistently irritated skin due to long-term stimulation at the

same electrode site.

PRECAUTIONS: Hold the device away from sources of heat and do not use it in close proximity

(approx. 1 m) to shortwave or microwave devices (e.g. mobile phones), as doing so can result in unpleasant current peaks.

Do not expose the device to direct sunlight or high temperatures. Protect the device from dust, dirt and humidity. Never immerse the device in

water or other liquids. The device is suitable for self-treatment. For hygienic reasons, the device may only be used on one person. If the device does not work properly, or you feel unwell or experience pain, stop

using it immediately. Switch off the EMS pad before attaching or removing it. Do not adapt the EMS pad in any way (e.g. by cutting or trimming it). This will

produce a higher current density and can be dangerous. Do not use the device whilst using other devices that transmit electrical im-

pulses into your body. Do not use whilst asleep, driving a vehicle or operating machinery. Do not use whilst undertaking any activity where an unexpected reaction (e.g.

strong muscle contractions even at low intensity) could be dangerous. Ensure that no metallic objects (e.g. belt buckles or necklaces) come into con-

tact with the electrodes during stimulation. If you are wearing jewellery or have piercings in the area to be treated (e.g. a navel piercing), these must be removed before using the device. Failure to do so could result in spot burns.

Keep the device away from children. Pre-treating the skin with greasy creams or lotions is not recommended.

Verschluckungsgefahr! Kleinkinder knnten Batterien verschlucken und dar-

an ersticken. Daher Batterien fr Kleinkinder unerreichbar aufbewahren!

No utilice bateras!

Do not use adhesive tapes, bandages or any aid other than the designated gel film to apply the EMS pad to your skin. Otherwise the unequal distribution of the gel film could lead to skin lesions.

The device should be used under medical supervision where possible. Stimulation on the same area for a long period of time could irritate the skin.

Please consult a dermatologist if skin irritation persists. During the initial few minutes, use the device while sitting or lying down to mini-

mise the risk of accidental injuries as a consequence of isolated cases of vagal responses (feeling of faintness). If you feel faint, switch off the device immedi- ately, lie down and support the legs in an elevated position (approx. 5 10 min).

Notes on handling batteries If your skin or eyes come into contact with battery fluid, flush out the affected

areas with water and seek medical assistance. Choking hazard! Small children may swallow and choke on batteries. Store

the batteries out of the reach of small children. Observe the plus (+) and minus (-) polarity signs. If a battery has leaked, put on protective gloves and clean the battery compart-

ment with a dry cloth. Protect the batteries from excessive heat. Risk of explosion! Never throw batteries into a fire. Do not charge or short-circuit batteries. If the device is not to be used for a long period, take the batteries out of the bat-

tery compartment. Use identical or equivalent battery types only. Do not use rechargeable batteries. Do not disassemble, split or crush the batteries. Remove the battery from the item if it is empty or you do not intend to use the

item for a prolonged period of time. This prevents damage which could occur due to leakage.

If required, clean the battery and device contacts before inserting. Risk of over- heating!

Damage If the EMS pad is damaged or you have any doubts, do not use it and contact your

retailer or Customer Services at the address provided. Switch the device off immediately if it is faulty or not working properly. Do not attempt to open and/or repair the EMS pad yourself. Repairs may only be

carried out by Customer Services or authorised suppliers. Failure to comply will result in voiding of the warranty.

The manufacturer is not liable for damage resulting from improper or careless use.

Cleaning Remove the batteries from the device before cleaning. Clean the device after use with a soft, slightly damp cloth. If it is very dirty, you

can also moisten the cloth with a mild soapy solution. Ensure that no water gets into the device. If this happens, only use the device

again once it has fully dried out. Do not use any chemical or abrasive cleaning agents.

Storage Re-apply the protective film to the gel film after use. If you do not plan to use the device for a long period of time, we recommend

that you store it in the original packing in a dry environment, ensuring it is not weighed down by additional items.

3. Initial use 3.1 Inserting the battery

1. Turn the battery compartment lid anti-clockwise using a coin. 2. Use a pointed object to loosen the lid. 3. Place the battery in the battery compartment so that the positive terminal (+)

faces upwards. 4. Close the lid by turning it clockwise.

3.2 Attaching the gel film

2

1 1. Remove one of the protective films carefully.

2. Carefully apply the gel film onto the EMS pad and then carefully peel away the protective film. Ensure that the edge of the gel film does not protrude over the EMS pad.

Gel film that has been applied slightly askew will not affect the function.

WARNING! Carefully and slowly remove the protective film, making sure that the two parts

of the adhesive gel film remains on the same side of the protective film. Ensure that the adhesive gel film does not present any damage because if it is damaged or not smooth, the skin could become irritated.

3.3 Usage Stick the EMS pad onto the part of the body to be treated (see image).

1

Long beep

1. Press and hold down the + button until you hear a long beep.

2

Short beep

2. Press the + button again to start the Level 1 stimula- tion. Keep pressing the + button until you reach the de- sired intensity.

3

Short beep

3. Press the button to reduce the intensity. To turn off the EMS pad, press and hold down the but- ton until you hear a long beep. The device switches off au- tomatically after 20 minutes. Re-apply the protective film to the gel film after use.

For optimal results we recommend a 4-week training plan. Please note the fol- lowing points: 1. 1-2 days rest. 2. Increase the intensity level on a daily basis. 3. A higher intensity level can lead to better results. However, the stimulation should never be uncomfortable. 4. Complete the full 20-minute program each time you use the device. Wait at least 30 minutes after the stimulation programme is complete before us- ing the device again.

Important! The device will only work if there is sufficient contact with the skin. Stimulation

pulses will not be transmitted if there is insufficient contact. Switch off the EMS pad before removing it. Replace the battery if it is low (insufficient stimulation, no beeping noises). For optimum stimulation we recommend that the gel film is replaced when bat-

teries are replaced. Do not use the EMS pad on the same area more than once per day. In the event of continuous beeping, shut down the device. Clean the gel film and

try to restart the program. If the continuous beeping persists, replace the gel film. If the adhesive capability of the gel film decreases, replace immediately. Do not

use the EMS pad again until the gel film has been replaced. Otherwise the un- equal distribution of the gel film could lead to skin lesions.

In the event of unpleasant current peaks, switch off the EMS pad, check the electrodes and then re-apply.
