Inserting the Battery

Loosen the screw on the battery cover and remove the battery cover. Insert a new 9V battery into the battery compartment and pay attention to the polarity symbols. Replace the battery cover and retighten the screw on the battery compartment.

Operating Instruction

Hold the detector by the handle in a comfortable position. Set the control slide switch from the OFF mode to either of the other modes to turn the metal detector on. The power indictor light will be on and a momentary beep is heard.

Visual Alert

To test the detector, pass it over a known area with metal objects and check for the visual and/or audio alarms. It should be tested at regular intervals to ensure correct operation.

Adjusting the Sensitivity

To adjust the sensitivity, locate the sensitivity adjuster and use a small flat bladed screwdriver to rotate the potentiometer located in the hole, rotate screwdriver:

- Clockwise to increase sensitivity

- Counter-clock to decrease sensitivity

Increase sensitivity until both audio and visual alarms are continuously on, and then slightly decrease the sensitivity. Preset sensitivity is at 1.96 inches / 5 cm for a US .25 coin. (Note: Do not adjust the sensitivity higher than necessary as this may cause false alarms)

Low Battery Warning

Replace the battery when either of these situations occur with the metal detector

- If the metal detector is not detecting metal objects over a know area with metal objects

- If audio tone alarms continuously Trouble Shooting

Move to a different search area if

- Alarms when in motion, but is stable in open air, there could be too much metal in the area.

- Alarms when motionless or motion, it could be the result of interference from electronic equipment (as broadcast antennas, power lines etc).

If neither of the above is successful, the sensitivity may be too high and requires adjustment.

Care and Maintenance

- Keep your detector clean and dry.

- Clean detector with damp cloth to maintain its appearance.

In the event of a defect within 30 days, the consumer must return the defective unit to the WINBEST by BARSKA dealer (the place of purchase) at his/her own expense.

Beyond 30 days, WINBEST by BARSKA products should be sent to the following address for warranty repairs. Products must be packed carefully and sturdily to prevent damage in transit, and returned freight prepaid to:
