About the Device
Revel in fast HSPA+ / HSPA / UMTS speeds wherever you are,
whenever you need it. With the Aztech MWR638 3G Mobile Wi-Fi
convert your SIM cards HSPA+ / HSPA / UMTS data connectivity to a
highly reliable and perfectly secure wireless network that can easily
be shared to up to 10 wireless devices simultaneously - the ideal
partner of both internet savvy and outgoing individuals who
constantly love to travel with family and/or friends without losing
internet accessibility.
Using a classic yet exquisite pebble design and build, the 3G Mobile
Wi-Fi is equipped with a 1500mAH Lithium-ion battery especially
designed to accommodate up to 5 hours of usage a reliable
partner of users who are constantly active when it comes to online
activities such as web browsing, social networking, and other similar
activities.
In addition, the 3G Mobile Wi-Fi is also accompanied by an intuitively
designed Web User Interface which enables users to fully customize
both the basic and advanced settings of its wireless network, change
network settings, send/view/receive sms messages, and perform
other device oriented functions such as firmware upgrade and
backup and settings restore.

Getting Started
Setting up the device is easy. The flowchart below provides an outline of the
steps needed in order to complete the installation. Brief descriptions appear
beside each step. Detailed instructions are provided in the subsequent
pages.

Removing/Disabling Conflicts
To ensure that the 3G Mobile Wi-Fi accessibility moves on smoothly, you need
to remove or disable conflicts that may interfere with the installation.
Probable conflicts may include:
Internet sharing applications
Proxy software
Security software
TCP/IP settings
Internet properties
Temporary Internet files
Internet Sharing, Proxy, and Security
Applications
Internet sharing, proxy software, and firewall applications may interfere with
the 3G Mobile Wi-Fis accessibility. These should be removed or disabled
before starting the installation.
If you have any of the following or similar applications installed on your
computer, remove or disable them according to the manufacturers
instructions.

Configuring TCP/IP Settings
Check if your computer uses the default TCP/IP settings.
To check the TCP/IP properties:
1. Select Start > Run. The Run dialog box would appear.
2. Enter control ncpa.cpl on the input box, and then click the OK button.
This would open the Network Connections window in your computer.
3. Right-click LAN and then select Properties. The Local Area Connection
Properties dialog box would appear.
4. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then click Properties. The Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP) dialog box would appear.
5. Select Obtain an IP address automatically.
6. Click the OK button to close the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) dialog box.
7. Click the OK button to close the Local Area Connection Properties
dialog box.
Configuring Internet Properties
To set the Internet Properties:
1. Select Start > Run. This opens the Run dialog box.
2. Enter control inetcpl.cpl and then click OK to open the Internet
Properties window.
3. Click on the Connections tab.
4. On the Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings pane, select Never
dial a connection.
5. Click OK to close Internet Properties.

Removing Temporary Internet Files
Temporary Internet files are files from Web sites that are stored in your
computer. Delete these files to clean the cache and remove footprints left by
the Web pages you visited.
To remove temporary Internet files:
1. Select Start > Run to open the Run dialog box.
2. Enter control and then click the OK button to open the Control Panel.
3. Double-click Internet Options.
4. On the Internet Options window, in the Temporary Internet Files pane,
click Delete Cookies.
5. Click Delete Files.
6. Click OK to close Internet Properties.

Device Setup
Preparing your 3G Mobile Wi-Fi is simple and easy. All steps provided below
have been arranged sequentially for your ease.
SIM Card Installation NOTE : Please prepare a valid, STANDARD SIZED SIM Card.
1. Remove the bottom cover and battery
pack of your 3G Mobile Wi-Fi device.
2. Insert the standard sized SIM Card into
your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis SIM Card slot.
3. Return the battery pack and bottom
cover in place. Please observe the
correct polarity of the battery pack and
ensure that the bottom cover is locked
into place.

Charging your Device Once you have correctly inserted the battery pack and bottom cover, you
can now begin charging your device. To charge the 3G Mobile Wi-Fi, simply
connect the device to your Desktop / PC using the USB Cable included in the
package.
NOTE: You may also use a 5V 1A phone charger for your 3G Mobile Wi-Fi.

PIN Lock If your SIM has an active PIN code, the screen display would show : PIN LOCK.
You may have to log in to the web user interface of your 3G Mobile Wi-Fi
(please see Accessing the Web User Interface section) and correctly enter
your SIM Cards PIN Code first (please see PIN Unlock section).
NOTES:
For more details regarding your SIM Cards PIN/PUK code, please
contact your service provider.
Ensure correct PIN Code entry. A maximum of three (3) tries for PIN
Code entry can be made.
You may opt to disable the PIN feature later on (please see the
enable/disable the PIN Code under Status section).
Internet Connectivity
After turning ON the 3G Mobile Wi-Fi, your device will
automatically connect to the Internet.
You may refer to your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis screen display and quickly verify
Internet connectivity through the Internet Status icon and/or through the
Network Type icon used by the device.
NOTE: For best internet speeds, it is highly recommended to have 3G as the
displayed Network Type. Relocate the device for better network signal
reception to have the best Wi-Fi speeds.
Connecting Wirelessly Once you have turned ON the device, you may immediately connect your
wireless devices to your MWR638s wireless network by connecting to the
wireless network name / SSID and wireless password / WiFi Key provided on
the device label sticker.

The Web User Interface (UI)
The Web User Interface allows you to fully customize both the basic and
advanced settings of your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis wireless network, change its
mobile network settings, send/view/receive SMS messages, and perform
other device oriented functions such as firmware upgrade and other similar
features.
The layout and content positioning of your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis web user
interface is mapped below.
Accessing the Web User Interface (UI) To access your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis Web User Interface:
1. Launch any web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome).
2. On the address bar, type 192.168.2.1 and press Enter. You will be
redirected to the Home page of your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis Web User
Interface.

NOTE: If your SIM Card has an active PIN Lock, you would be redirected
to the PIN Code Entry page of the Web User Interface page.
PIN Unlock If your SIM Card has an active PIN Lock, the screen display of your 3G Mobile
Wi-Fi would show PIN Lock . Upon accessing the Web User Interface of your
device, you would immediately be redirected to the PIN Code page. Simply
enter the correct PIN Code, click OK, and you will be redirected to the Home
Page of your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis Web User Interface.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
If your SIM has an active PIN code, you may have to log in to the web
user interface of your 3G Mobile Wi-Fi and correctly enter it first. You
may opt to disable this feature later on.
A maximum of 3 PIN Code entries can be made. If all PIN Code retries
fail, PUK Code entry would follow.
Please refer to your SIM Packs manual for the maximum PUK Code
reentries possible. These may vary from one Service Provider SIM Card
to another.
SIM Card will become inaccessible if both PIN and PUK Code entry fail.
If your SIM Card has been blocked, please take note that you will still
be able to access your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis Web User Interface. However,
your SIM Card would not be able to receive any network signal and no
browsing activity can be done.

Logging In to the Web UI In order to fully modify your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis configurations, you must first
login to the web user interface.
The default password for your MWR638s web user interface is admin.
NOTE : Only one user can log in to the web user interface.

The Web User Interface (UI) Menu The Web UI menu provides constant Menu and Logout accessibility
throughout all web user interface pages.
The Web User Interfaces main menu contains the following items:

Settings
In addition, the Web UI menu also contains the Quick Info section that can
be found useful in easily identifying your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis current status such
as your devices current signal status, Internet status, SMS status, Battery
status, and even Wi-Fi status.

Indicates that the device is connected to the Internet and the
devices current data transfer activity.
Indicates that the wireless network is active.

Quick Setup The Quick Setup menu allows you to modify your devices connection mode,
the SSID or wireless network name that it broadcasts, and even the Web User
Interfaces login password. In addition, it also allows you to change the
wireless networks password.
NOTE: After modifying this area, you would need to reconnect your wireless
devices to your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis wireless network again.
To modify the quick setup section:
1. Select the Connection Mode. You may set this to manual if you prefer
to manually connect your MWR638 to the Internet.
2. On the SSID field, enter the preferred SSID or wireless network name
that you want your device to broadcast.
3. On the New Password and Confirmed New Password field, enter the
preferred password to the web user interface
4. Click Next to proceed.
5. Enter the preferred password on the Key field.
6. Click Apply to save and apply changes.
NOTE: You may have to reconnect again to the wireless network of your
MWR638 using the new SSID and password you have set.

Status Allows you to view your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis current connection status, manually
connect it to the Internet, view usage history, manage ISP profiles, configure
network settings, enable/change/disable SIM card PIN Code, and even view
the list of connected devices.
The Status page has the following submenus:

Connection Status. Allows you to view the status of the current
connection, WAN status, and WLAN status. In addition, this page also
allows you to manually connect your MWR638 to the Internet if the
connection mode of your device is set to manual.
USSD. Allows you to view and/or even access various service provider
services through short lines of code. Do take note that USSD codes vary
from one service provider to another.

Usage History. Allows you to view various usage durations of your
device. You may clean the accumulated history through the Clean
History button, or refresh the page to update field values through the
Refresh button.
Profile Management. Allows you to create, delete, modify, and edit
profiles your 3G Mobile Wi-Fi will use. Do take note that your MWR638
automatically detects the profile settings of your SIM Card. Creating
new profiles are only necessary if your MWR638 does not detect your
SIM cards settings (these details can be provided by your ISP).

Network. Allows you to modify what network (2G/3G, 2G only, 3G only)
will be used by your 3G Mobile Wi-Fi in its internet connection, and/or
modify the means by which your MWR638 will connect to the Internet.
PIN Code Management. Allows you to enable/disable the PIN code
feature, and/or change the current PIN code used. Do take note that
you can only change the PIN Code if the PIN Code function is
enabled.

Connected Devices. Allows you to view the current wireless devices
connected to your 3G Mobile Wi-Fi including each devices IP address,
name, and current association/connection time. You may click the
Refresh button to refresh the list.

SMS The SMS menu page allows you to create and send new messages, access
and/or delete received/save messages, modify your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis SMS
Settings such as the SMS service center number and/or change the default
SMS storage of your device.
By default, your 3G Mobile Wi-Fi uses your SIM Cards memory in storing
messages.
The SMS menu has the following submenus:
Inbox
Outbox
Drafts
SMS Settings
Write SMS. Allows you to compose and/or save sms / messages.

Draft. Allows you to view saved messages.
Sent Items. Allows you to view sent messages.
SMS Settings. Allows you to configure your SIM cards SMSC or Short
Message Service Center, and/or configure the storage location of all
received messages.
NOTE: SMSCs are automatically obtained by your 3G Mobile Wi-Fi from
your SIM Card.
To configure the SMS Settings:
1. Enter the SMSC number.
2. Select the Save Mode or storage location where the messages will
be saved.
3. Click Apply to save and apply settings.

SD Card Allows you to configure the accessibility of an attached SD Card or
browse/upload/download/delete the contents of an SD Card. Do take note
that a working SD Card must first be present and attached on the SD card
slot of your 3G Mobile Wi-Fi.

File Management. Allows you to explore, and upload/download files
from/to your SD card.
To download file(s):
1. On the folder explorer field, navigate to the directory of the
file that you want to download.
2. Click the file and it will immediately start downloading.
To upload file(s):
1. On the folder explorer field, navigate to the folder where you
wish to upload your files.
2. Click Browse and locate the file that you want to upload.
3. Click Upload to begin uploading the file on the desired folder.
To delete file(s):
1. Tick the folder(s) and/or file(s) that you want to delete.
2. Click Delete to delete the selected folder(s)/file(s).

Sharing. Allows you to configure the sharing access mode of your SD
Card.
a. USB Only. Only allows SD card accessibility upon connecting
your 3G Mobile Wi-Fi to a Desktop/PC through USB cable.
b. Web Access. Allows full sharing access of your SD Cards
contents to all wirelessly connected devices via the Web User
Interface.

Settings Allows you to configure your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis wireless settings, utilize its WPS
feature, enable/disable/modify MAC filter settings, backup your devices
setting, change its DHCP settings, perform soft reboot, and even view its
device information.
The Settings menu has the following submenus:

Wireless. Allows you to configure the wireless settings of your device
such as its SSID, the Wi-Fi channels used, the number of users that can
connect to your device, and other similar properties.
NOTE: After modifying this area, you would need to reconnect your
devices to your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis wireless network again.
To configure your devices wireless settings:
1. It is highly suggested to use 802.11auto for the 802.11 Mode.
2. Enter the preferred wireless network name or SSID on the SSID field.
3. It is highly suggested to use Auto for the Wi-Fi Channel.
4. If you want to limit the number of users that can connect to your
device, select the preferred number of devices on the Max Number
of Users dropdown list.
5. On the Key field, enter your preferred wireless password.
6. Click Apply to save and apply changes.

WPS. Allows you to use PBC or soft WPS, or use a WPS PIN to initiate the
WPS setup.
To select PBC (Push Button Configuration):
1. Tick the PBC (Push Button Configuration) radio button.
2. Click the button to begin the WPS pairing.
NOTE : Within two minutes, press the WPS button of the wireless
device (e.g. smartphone / laptop) that you want to connect to
ensure a successful WPS setup.
To select PIN:
1. On your wireless device (e.g. smartphone), go to its Wi-Fi Settings
then press WPS PIN Entry. An 8 digit PIN code will be generated.
2. On the Web User Interface of your MWR638, go to Settings > WPS.

3. Enter the generated WPS PIN on the WPS PIN field.
4. Click Apply to save and apply changes.
DHCP Settings. Allows you to configure your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis DHCP
Server function or how your device will assign IP addresses to each
wireless device.
NOTE: After modifying this area, you would need to reconnect your
devices to your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis wireless network again.
To configure your devices DHCP Settings:
1. Enter the preferred Default Gateway. Do take note that upon
changing the default gateway, you would have to use the new
default gateway in accessing your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis web user
interface.
2. Enter the correct Subnet Mask.
3. Assign the preferred Host Name.
4. Enable the DHCP server and assign the preferred DHCP IP Pool /
range.
5. Enter the preferred Lease Time for each DHCP assigned IP address.
6. Click Apply to save and apply changes.

Diagnostic. Displays your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis basic information such as its
software and Hardware version, its IMEI and MAC Address, its device
name and its current IP address and subnet mask. This page also allows
you to reboot / reset your device
Device Admin. Allows you to backup your devices current settings and
restore its current settings using the backup file, restore the device to its
default factory settings, or set MAC Filter settings in your wireless
network.
To backup your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis configuration:
1. Click Download. The backup configuration file will automatically be
downloaded.

To restore settings from a backup file:
1. Click Browse and locate the backup file.
2. Click Upload to restore the settings from the backup file.
To configure MAC Filters:
NOTE: After modifying the wireless MAC filter settings, you would need
to reconnect your devices to your 3G Mobile Wi-Fis wireless network
again.
1. Click MAC Filter.
2. Select the MAC Filter setting on the MAC Filter dropdown list.
a. Enable. Allows wireless network access to all provided MAC
Addresses.
b. Disable. Disables the wireless MAC Filter feature.
3. Enter the MAC Address(es) that you want to allow, deny, access.
4. Click Apply to save and apply changes.
5. Reconnect your wireless devices as needed.

3G Mobile Wi-Fi Care Tips
1. Do not use any USB cable with the 3G Mobile Wi-Fi other than the
supplied cable as it may damage the device rendering it unusable.
2. Do not allow the 3G Mobile Wi-Fi to get wet; when water gets in
contact with the device, the internal components might corrode and
break your device.
3. Prolonged usage may expose the device to overheating. This may
