Welcome Thank you for purchasing an Amcrest Spotting Scope!
Whether your interest is in sports, bird watching, nature, wildlife, hunting, or other activities these
spotting scopes offer the finest optical quality to fit your needs.
1Overview
1.1 Spotting Scope Features
This spotting scope features the following items:
1.2. Assembly
Your Amcrest spotting scope will come equipped with the following items: A tripod, a protective carrying
case, a phone adapter for digiscoping, and a lens cleansing cloth. For best results it is recommended to
maintain your spotting scope and ensure the objective lens is free from debris or obstructions.
1.2.1. Before You Start
Remove the scope from its protective case and attach it to your tripod. To attach the scope to your
tripod, connect the threaded hole on the tripod adapter of the scope to the locking screw located on the
tripod. Turn the locking screw in a clockwise motion until the scope is secure. For best results, using the
spotting scope on a solid tripod is recommended to be able to see sharp and steady views as well as
provide more accurate target acquisition.
Note: Make sure your scope is secure to the tripod and remove the lens cap prior to acquiring a target.
4
1.3. Basic Use
When the scope has been secured to the tripod you can begin using the scope. On the tripod you will
notice an extended lever. This lever is used to lock and unlock the movement of the scope while it is
begin used on the tripod. To unlock and begin adjusting your scope, turn the lever counter-clockwise to
loosen and then fix your scope onto your target. Once your target is acquired, turn the lever clockwise
to tighten the scope and tripod into place. This will secure and lock the scope in the direction of the
target.
1.3.1. Adjusting Magnification
This scope allows you to magnify a target up to 60x.
To adjust the magnification on your scope, rotate the
zoom ring to change the magnification level of the
spotting scope. The scope ranges from 20x 60x
magnification. When proper magnification has been
reached, refocus the image as needed. As a rule of
thumb, the brightest and widest field of view will always be the view that requires the lowest
magnification.
1.3.2. Using the SunshadeIf there is too much stray light in your field of view the scope has a built-in
sunshade. The sunshade for the scope is an extendable ring located at the front of the scope by the
objective lens. To operate, move the sunshade forward to extend it.
To retract the sunshade, move the sunshade back to its original position. You can adjust the sunshade in
accordance with the amount of light that is begin produced at the time of target acquisition.
Note: Never look directly at the sun with the naked eye or with your spotting scope. Permanent eye
damage may result.
1.3.3. Adjusting the Focus
To focus your spotting scope, slowly rotate the focus knob until
the image in the eye piece is clear and sharp. Refocusing is
usually required if the magnification is changed. If you feel the
focus knob no longer moves any further in either direction,
then you have reached the end of the focus range. When the
5
focus knob has reached its limit, do not try to force it to go any further. Instead, it is recommended to
refocus the spotting scope by turning the focus knob in the opposite direction. Once an image is in
focus, turn the knob clockwise to focus on a closer object and counterclockwise for more distant
objects.
1.3.4. Instructions for Care Maintaining your scope is good practice to help ensure the effectiveness of your experience. For more
information on how to best care for your scope refer to the helpful tips below:
1. When wiping the lenses, use the lens cloth that was included with your scope. If the cloth
becomes unusable you can use a soft, lint less cloth in its place.
2. To remove any remaining dirt or smudges from the objective lens, you can add one or two drops
of isopropyl alcohol to the cloth.
3. Keep the lens cover that was provided with your scope on the objective lens when not in use.
4. The scope is quite durable however to avoid damage, make sure to use the protective carrying
case when the scope is not being used.
1.4. Porro Prisms
This scope features a built-in BK-4 Porro prism for optimal coverage. Porro prisms incorporate an optical
path that directs light in a Z or zig zag-like pattern as represented in the diagram below
In a nutshell, light is directed through the reflective Porro prism system in a Z pattern with four
reflections to bring the image upright and forward to reach your eye. This creates a stereoscopic image
where you have a 3D-like, rich depth of field.

2 Digiscoping
What is Digiscoping?
Digiscoping is the practice of shooting digital photos or videos through a spotting scope. The spotting
scope magnifies the target image for the camera, just as it magnifies the target image during visual use.
This scope allows for the use of digiscoping through the utilization of a universal phone adapter.

universal phone adapter and would like to install it on your spotting scope, please follow the instruction
set listed below.

down or left and right until the lens of your phones camera is facing the center of Holder 2.

3. Tighten Dial 3 to fix the position. Make sure not to overtighten it; prepare for later adjustment.
Use for Digiscoping
1. Insert the eyepiece of the spotting scope into Holder 2 and turn Dial 2 to fix the phone adapter
to the eyepiece. Make sure not to overtighten the adapter to the eyepiece.
2. Once the phone adapter is secure to the spotting scope, turn your phone camera on. You can
adjust your phone camera until you find the most accurate position.
3. When adjustment is complete, turn Dial 3 to the phone camera into position.
