Delay Coil Organizer Overview

Delay Coil Organizer

Overview

2

The Delay Coil Organizer allows the storage of up to three Delay Coil combinations to achieve the required delay volume, and to easily detect and dispose of any possible leaks.

The Delay Coil Organizer comes with a Pressure Relief Valve (PRV, as part of the accessory kit) for protection of the Fraction Collector inlet line.

Installation Assemble the Delay Coil Organizer

Installation

You can install the Delay Coil Organizer either to the side of a particular module (see Install the Delay Coil Organizer to another Module on page 8), or in the 1290 Infinity II Preparative Column Compartment (see Install the Delay Coil Organizer into the 1290 Infinity II Preparative Column Compartment on page 10).

Assemble the Delay Coil Organizer

1 Remove the delay coil organizer from its housing by pulling it to the front.

2 Remove the distributor from the delay coil organizer.

3 Install the Adapter Nut FB 1/4-28-M 5/16-24-F ST (5023-3093) for the Delay Coil Kit mL/min ESD (5067-6802) and the Delay Coil Kit mL/min ESD (5067-6804).

4 Tigthen the adapter nut with a torque of 2.3 Nm (about 10 after fingertight).

5 Mount the required delay coils to the available ports of the distributor, and fix them fingertight. Do not use any wrench or fitting handle.

NOTE Use two vertical aligned ports for one coil (combination).

You can install up to three combinations.

5

Installation Assemble the Delay Coil Organizer

6 Place the distributor with the installed coil(s) back into the delay coil organizer.

7 Install the distributor by pushing it through the holes in the module frame.

8 Slide the delay coil organizer into its housing to close it.

9 Install the Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) to the top port (OUT) of the Delay Coil (combination) to be used. This will indicate which port is in use.

6

Installation Assemble and Install the Leak Tray and Leak Sensor

1 Attach the leak tray clamp to the leak tray. 2 Push the leak sensor into its holder.

3 Slide the leak tray onto the bottom of the Delay Coil Organizer.

Installation Install the Delay Coil Organizer to another Module

Install the Delay Coil Organizer to another Module

1 Assemble and install the leak tray and leak sensor to the delay coil organizer, see Assemble and Install the Leak Tray and Leak Sensor on page 7.

2 Ensure the power switch at the rear of the module is OFF and the power connector is unplugged.

3 Identify the marks for the screws on the side panel of the cabinet assy and screw the clamp guides to the side panel of the cabinet.

4 Slide the delay coil organizer into the clamp guides from front to back.

5 Attach the waste tubing to the leak plane and guide it to a proper waste container.

6 Connect the leak sensor cable to a module with ERI Remote connector (particularly G7159B, or G7161A/B), or to an ERI Remote / Leak Module (5188-8053).

7 Install the capillary from the detector to the bottom port (IN) of the Delay Coil (combination) to be used.

8

Installation Install the Delay Coil Organizer to another Module

8 Install the tubing that goes to the fraction collector to the extended top front port of the PRV. Use the Fitting Handle to apply the correct torque.

9 Fix the waste tubing (1.6 mm x 650 mm ESD) to the bottom of the PRV.

10 Twist the PRV, such that the bottom does not get in the way of the bottom Delay Coil connection, but still ends inside the Leak Tray.

NOTE All fittings used in combination with PRV, or inside the Delay Coil Organizer are -28 FB. Fittings to the bottom port of the Delay Coil Organizer are 10-32 coned.

Installation Install the Delay Coil Organizer into the 1290 Infinity II Preparative Column Compartment

Install the Delay Coil Organizer into the 1290 Infinity II Preparative Column Compartment

1 Install the Delay Coil Organizer into the top valve position of the 1290 Infinity II Preparative Column Compartment according to the Purification Capillary Kits Technical Note.

2 Install the capillary from the detector to the bottom port (IN) of the Delay Coil (combination) to be used.

3 Install the tubing that goes to the fraction collector to the extended top front port of the PRV. Use the Fitting Handle to apply the correct torque.

4 Fix the waste tubing (1.6 mm x 650 mm ESD) to the bottom of the PRV.

5 Twist the PRV, such that the bottom doesn't get in the way of the bottom Delay Coil connection, while the 650 mm waste line is guided alongside the small mounting plate inside the Column Compartment, to the Leak Plate and the tubing is fixed directly under the leak sensor assembly.

NOTE All fittings used in combination with PRV, or inside the Delay Coil Organizer are -28 FB. Fittings to the bottom port of the Delay Coil Organizer are 10-32 coned.
